Provides assessments after courses and links to additional resources for areas where improvement is needed

  • June 03, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is most valuable?

The tool's most valuable feature is its cloud computing content. While Udemy Business offers training and knowledge across various areas, I use it for cloud computing technologies. Many videos and tutorials are available on this topic, which benefits me.

It provides assessments after courses and links to additional resources for areas where improvement is needed. I appreciate that once you purchase a course, it remains available forever, allowing you to revisit it whenever you have free time.

The GUI is nice, with videos and content on the right side and comments at the bottom. I haven't encountered any challenges with the user interface. The course quality is also good, and the platform is easy to navigate.

The benefit of using Udemy Business is that you can learn about new technologies. Sometimes, vendor-specific documentation can be lengthy and challenging to understand. Udemy Business courses condense this information into two- to three-hour sessions focusing on the most important topics and key points. This approach helps you remember and enhance your knowledge.

What needs improvement?

While most videos have good audio quality, some could be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the product for more than six years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I haven't encountered any scalability challenges with the platform. I haven't experienced any video playback or loading issues, so performance seems scalable.

How are customer service and support?

I've contacted technical support once and found it good overall. They were knowledgeable about the platform and how it works.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I've used multiple learning portals before. What I appreciate about Udemy Business is that there are no monthly charges. You can even try a trial class before deciding to purchase the full course.

How was the initial setup?

The solution's setup is straightforward. It's all online, accessed through a web page. No setup is required; log in to the portal and use it.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

You can purchase individual courses and complete them at your own pace. If you want to explore more topics, you can purchase additional courses. It's a one-time purchase for each course, not a monthly subscription.

What other advice do I have?

It's a great learning tool with many videos covering the latest technologies. They often offer good discounts, making it affordable for students. However, the content sometimes remains basic and may not reach expert levels. Still, considering the price point, it's suitable for starting to learn a new technology.

It's a great platform for anyone starting to explore the latest technology. You can choose courses and receive feedback. Plus, discounts are often available, sometimes up to 90 percent off, making it affordable for youngsters.

I rate the overall product a nine out of ten.

Offers self-paced learning and easy administration

  • May 30, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is most valuable?

The tool's most valuable feature is the self-paced approach. It also has practice questions, which help with some of my work. The participation features are very useful as well.

Udemy Business' UI features are fine. Its administration is easy. You can add and remove groups. It helps to monitor usage.

What needs improvement?

It would be helpful if Udemy Business used more video recordings in the training and incorporated virtual training sessions to connect trainees.

The only thing is that if the courses have labs, they should include the software you can use to practice. That can be challenging.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the tool for four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the tool's stability a nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The tool is scalable. I used to buy bulk licenses, but you can downsize them when you don't need them anymore. Flexibility in scalability is important. For example, if you buy bulk training and don't want to use all of it, I'm not sure they allow downsizing. My company has ten users.

How are customer service and support?

I haven't contacted the tool's support.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Udemy Business' pricing is moderate.

What other advice do I have?

I rate the tool an eight out of ten. It's a good tool for introducing yourself to a particular technology.

Simple application for whatever you want to learn

  • May 30, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Udemy is a simple application for whatever you want to learn, like data courses, etc.

What is most valuable?

The advantage is you can choose only what you need to learn.

What needs improvement?

The cost-quality balance seems subjective and flexible. Sometimes, courses are comprehensive, ranging from four to eight hours. However, not all courses require such extensive time commitments. Many could be condensed into just a couple of hours. Instead of elongating courses to cover every possible detail, a more efficient approach would be prioritizing the essential content within a shorter one-hour period.

The remaining hours could be optional supplementary material for those interested in a deeper dive. With the pace of technological advancements, continuous learning is essential, but lengthy courses spanning four to six hours may become outdated. To remain competitive, Udemy Business should consider shortening courses to less than an hour, focusing on critical points. People nowadays prefer concise, easily digestible information, as evidenced by the popularity of platforms like Instagram and YouTube. Long-form content, such as lengthy books or reviews, loses appeal due to time constraints. Similarly, in the tech sector, where time is scarce, learners seek quick, informative resources. By condensing courses, Udemy can cater to the modern learner's preference for efficiency and brevity.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Udemy Business for three to four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the solution's stability as eight out of ten.

How was the initial setup?

There is no setup required.

What was our ROI?

I rate ROI as six out of ten.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I rate the solution's pricing an eight out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Udemy Business because it's a perfect platform. However, it does have some shortcomings. Addressing those issues would improve the platform. Overall, it's a solid choice.

Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

An easy-to-use e-learning platform for upskilling

  • May 30, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We use a business account, and several developers are learning there. This helps us upskill with the necessary skills to keep up with the market.

What is most valuable?

What attracted us most to Udemy Business was the content. The amount of content on the platform covers all our requirements. Secondly, I would mention the structure of the e-learning platform. Those are the most important things to me. It is also easy to use.

I am happy with the tool's current features. The quality of the courses you choose depends on them, but in my experience, the courses we've selected have been excellent. I'd rate them nine out of ten in terms of quality.

The courses have made a difference. We are acquiring the skills and techniques that we need.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the product for a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have never had any stability issues with Udemy Business.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The product is scalable. My company has 50 users.

How are customer service and support?

I haven't contacted support yet.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used Coursera and A Cloud Guru. A Cloud Guru had courses we did not need, and pricing was better for Udemy Business.

How was the initial setup?

The solution's deployment is easy. For onboarding, you need to put in your email.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The tool's pricing is good and reasonable.

What other advice do I have?

I rate the overall product a nine out of ten. For anyone considering using Udemy Business, I'd advise paying attention to the price point, as it's very competitive. In my opinion, it is one of the best platforms available in the market.

Helps to learn from anywhere and offers region-based learning

  • May 30, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

The tool's main purpose is to enhance learning and responsiveness across the organization. We focus on making technology learning more convenient for employees. It provides resources for learning platforms like Oracle, AWS, and Microsoft Azure. Our goal is to promote learning from anywhere.

What is most valuable?

The main advantage of Udemy Business is its region-based learning. For example, if a learner from India wants to learn technology, they can find instructors from India who understand their learning style and thought process. This makes learning easier and more relatable. Additionally, Udemy Business is a global platform, so learners can access courses from instructors worldwide. A person from the USA or someone with a higher skill set can create videos. Another advantage is the range of available courses, with no limitations on what you can learn. You can get the right content for the specific technology.

What needs improvement?

One area for improvement is ensuring that courses are updated regularly. Often, courses are not updated according to the schedule mentioned by the instructors. It would be beneficial if Udemy Business had a process to evaluate and ensure timely course updates.

Udemy Business' remote support needs to be more reliable. Also, some courses are not well-rated or commented on, but they are still good. Currently, courses need more than a 4.5 rating and a certain number of comments to be included, which excludes some good courses. It should define rules to include these courses on request without ignoring rating settings. However, this is challenging because it could be misused by instructors or course providers.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the product for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The system is generally stable, with minimal downtime experienced. Occasionally, there may be issues with the API, but these are promptly addressed by the organization's response team. Overall, stability is not a major concern, but the organization's internal team needs to be adequately skilled in maintaining the learning portal.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Udemy Business is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

The tool's support can be both proactive and slow. It depends on the person dealing with the support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The tool's deployment is easy. It can integrated into our platform using APIs. Learning access took just a few minutes, and the implementation was completed within hours. However, the key factor is not the deployment time but how the learning portal is integrated with the organization's existing infrastructure. Integrating with Udemy Business' API is not particularly challenging; the focus lies on maintaining the organizational learning portal.

The number of people needed for deployment and maintenance depends on the project's scale and goals. Typically, a team of engineers is required to handle the deployment and ongoing maintenance of the learning portal.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The system provides good value for its cost, as evidenced by its widespread adoption across organizations of various sizes. Whether it's mid-level or high-level organizations, many are implementing it. Pricing is based on subscriptions and the number of users.

What other advice do I have?

I rate the overall product a nine out of ten. The first step is to define your organizational goals for using the learning platform.  Instead of simply providing hyperlinks, integrating courses into the organization's portal interface enhances convenience. Integration should be without multiple tabs opening or complex navigation.

Offers affordable beginner courses but can improve by providing courses on the latest tech launches

  • May 30, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I primarily use the solution for IT training across numerous categories. For instance, if I am working on certain projects where additional knowledge or skills are needed, I will use Udemy Business to join a suitable course to gain basic knowledge.

I am only able to gain in-depth knowledge through hands-on experience because, just like courses on Udemy Business, I haven't come across tutorials even on other platforms that are capable of providing in-depth and practical knowledge on certain topics or skills. For instance, if a DevOps project arrives on which I will work, I use Udemy Business to brush up on my knowledge.

What is most valuable?

Udemy Business is a great platform to start the learning curve for certain categories or topics. By offering short-duration courses, Udemy Business doesn't demand any long-term commitments. The courses are highly affordable, and I have never paid more than twenty dollars, so I don't face any big losses even if a course fails to deliver value.

What needs improvement?

Udemy Business can improve by providing courses on the latest tech launches that might have been released in the last six months. The solution can witness a steep jump in subscribers once it includes more basic courses on the latest technologies or trends; it takes at least a year in most cases for professionals to get started learning with any new or latest tech solutions.

If Udemy Business can offer courses before the marketing understanding of the latest product flourishes or the demand for specific product skills increases, then the platform host can capture a major market.

Most of the market is moving towards SaaS or cloud platforms, and many users don't have access to the cloud for the cost, so Udemy Business can offer shared platform services where users can avail of practice sessions on specific products or tools. Along with the tutorial, if Udemy Business is able to partner with solution providers to provide the users with a hands-on experience, then it will be a complete package.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Udemy Business for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have used Udemy Business in Singapore and India, and at both these locations, I haven't faced any challenges with the stability. The platform depends on network connectivity for the smooth running of the tutorial videos.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I use Udemy Business on my smartphone or laptop, and I haven't faced any challenges accessing the courses or tutorial videos. The quality of the videos on the platform is satisfying, and there are options to switch to higher resolutions as well.

How are customer service and support?

In my long-term usage, the need to contact customer support never arose.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

In another competitor, a Microsoft partner platform called Pluralsight, I had a terrible experience with a yearly subscription of $300 to $400. The major tech courses were outdated, except for a few relevant tutorials. Udemy Business offers greater transparency than Pluralsight.

For instance, if you are looking for a course on Azure Apps, Udemy Business will provide details about the course learnings prior to purchase, but on Pluralsight, they would just overpromise and wouldn't be able to deliver any latest tech tutorials.

How was the initial setup?

The web version of Udemy Business can be easily setup on smartphones. The mobile app from Udemy Business is quite straightforward and can be installed within five or ten minutes. Almost anyone can install the solution on their own, and not much maintenance is required; just some updates need to be installed from time to time.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The platform offers decent pricing. Udemy Business often hosts discounts and offers. For the frequent discounts, I can almost every time purchase a course at a discount. I would rate the pricing a three out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

I believe Udemy Business is already utilizing the basic AI capabilities by analyzing user search queries and user behavior on the platform and suggesting similar course options. I would overall rate the product a seven out of ten.

I am still expecting courses on the latest or cutting-edge technologies like AI automation from the platform. I would advise the users of Udemy Business to be consistent with the platform and spend at least half an hour or a couple of hours on the availed courses. I would also advise others to check for discounts before purchasing on Udemy Business.

The platform provides a wide range of courses for personal development. However, the clarity and depth of some courses need improvement, especially for complex topics.

Udemy should offer more courses on network troubleshooting and provide easy lectures for everyone to understand, starting from the basics.

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution for personal development and skills upgradation.

What is most valuable?

The solution allows us to look at training at any time at our convenience. It has a mobile app, which we can easily access to take notes.

We have 24 hours of learning.

What needs improvement?

The solution could have a more user-friendly interface. You don't need to recommend the top-rated courses at the beginning of the minutes. We need to have a better customer experience in terms of navigation.

I have been using Udemy Business for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the solution's stability a nine out of ten.

How was the initial setup?

There is no setup needed.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

What other advice do I have?

The number of topics and courses being covered is good. The training materials are flexible, and they are regularly updated based on changes in that specific topic.

our course is good enough to complete the to take our own certification examined.

Everything fits the same. Udemy has a better list of the wide topics that are being covered.

We can upskill ourselves to keep in line with the industry's trends.

I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

User-friendly and provides a list of courses for users to learn

  • May 22, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Users can learn anything they want from the Udemy Business platform.

What is most valuable?

The Udemy Business platform has a list of courses and a dashboard. You can follow the courses you started and try to finish them. Udemy Business is very user-friendly and has a mobile app for the same platform.

What needs improvement?

The solution's customer support could be improved and made faster.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Udemy Business for seven to eight years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the solution’s stability a nine or ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Udemy Business is a scalable solution.

How are customer service and support?

I tried contacting the solution's support team because some Rosetta Stone courses I needed were unavailable on Udemy Business. The support was not very quick, and I did not have a positive outcome in the end.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I previously used Lynda.com.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I suppose there is a license for the tool at the company level, but not for individuals.

What other advice do I have?

You have a list of courses on Udemy Business, watch videos, and try to implement something on your machine. There's an integration between Udemy Business and another site, Degreed.com. We log in to that site and then into NaspersUdemy.com, the business platform.

I would recommend the solution to other users depending on the price. I wouldn't recommend it if it's on a personal plan, which costs a few dollars per month. I would recommend Udemy Business if the company offers it. The solution helps with whatever issue we are trying to solve for programming languages or personal development.

Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.
