Automation of Incident Management

  • July 21, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I manage a 24x7x365 engineering team, charted with monitoring, responding and initiation of Incident Management processes. Consistency is key to our success. FireHydrant has brought my team to a higher level of execution, consistency and excellence. The workflow and integration scope of FireHydrant was a force multiplier for Avalara.
What do you dislike about the product?
Until recently, we didn't have the capability to manage access to runbooks. in addition, tracking of runbook changes created challenges around tracking changes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to implement consistent execution of Incident Management propcesses. It solves the challnge of follow the sun support across three regions and timezones.

Great product that helps easing in incident handling processes

  • July 19, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
FireHydrant integrates with major applications, allowing us to keep communicating in Slack and Zoom, and helps us facilitate better processes when handling incidents
What do you dislike about the product?
I'd like more integrations with ticketing systems. We use Linear app and there is still no integration to the product.
JIRA is supported though
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We lack a standard process that handles incidents. It is not clear where an incident is at the moment, what is the status, the severity and how to communicate its status to higher management.
FireHydrant allows us to facilitate the entire incident and adds a status page as well

It is more than just incident management

  • July 05, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Flexible and powerful, with integrations that matter, made for people who care about incident management
What do you dislike about the product?
Terraform integration is still pending some resource types; documentation and validation can be improved
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Teams can let FireHydrant support them as they do what matters the most: investigate and solve incidents. It provides clear and relevant information about services deployed, including deployment dates, versions, releases, and any external event that is relevant. More than just managing incidents, it permits quickly and conveniently communicating with internal and external customers about anything that is happening during an incident.

Incident Management Made Easy

  • June 27, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tons of integrations (we use PagerDuty, Jira, Slack, Meet and More) and easy-to-configure runbooks made onboarding teams to FireHydrant a breeze.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing major to speak to here, the staff have been wonderful to work with and our users are glad to have the tooling to support our internal expectations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
FireHydrant is reducing the burden on our on-call engineering teams. We struggled to get teams to facilitate incident reviews (post-mortems) and by reducing friction in the process FireHydrant helps our teams capture valuable learnings.

Devs like it! Ops use it!

  • June 27, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's helping us to re-imagine incident communication and bring compassion to failure. Documentation is good. API is intuitive. Integrations are painless, and best of all, it's not prescriptive!
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that I haven't had the time to explore all of its features. Jokes aside, I haven't found much fault yet with Firehydrant. Perhaps the one minor challenge for us to overcome is more of an internal thing - bringing multiple stakeholders from different worksapces into the same FH communication channel in slack.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used to have a bunch of different slack threads for incident communication, and FH is helping to mitigate this problem (it's a problem because it leads to repetition and wasted effort). FH is also helping us to bring observability into incidents, which again helps to elminate repetition.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're trying to tidy up your enterprise, try it!

FireHydrant- Amazing Incident Management Tool

  • June 24, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
FireHydrant has great automation when it comes to incident management. I never used a tool that meet all my expectations. It is a perfect example of what all Incident Managers should use at their company. In addition, the customer success managers go above and beyond to help a user when in need of assistance and provide good documentation for the latest updates. The UI is very friendly. FireHydrant has come a long way, and I am sure they will meet all the user expectations.
What do you dislike about the product?
Service-Catalog and Task List are not that useful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Best approach to Incident ManagemenT, and making our lives easier when it comes to IMOC.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make use of the automation.

Robust & flexible Incident Response tool

  • June 22, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
FireHydrant is a flexible platform that allows you to tailor the tool to your company's processes and incident response expectations. It also enables incident responders to use the tool how they like to work. Working fully out of Slack or some other chat/collaboration tool, FireHydrant integrates and lets you open/update/resolve incidents without having to leave where the incident response action is happening. But if you would rather work from a UI, FireHydrant has a full-featured graphical interface that enables all the same cool features to be done from a web page.

Another key feature is the ablility to integrate FireHydrant with all of our tools that are needed to effectively manage an incident - Statuspage.io, Jira, Zoom, Slack, etc. the list is comprehensive.

Lastly, the use of AI summarization is a significant admin toil reducer. Teams can focus on mitigation while AI captures key information during an incident.

Outside of the tool itself, the Customer Support and engagement from front line support, Product Management, and Engineering teams is phenomenal. All the teams are customer focused and strive to provide great user experiences.
What do you dislike about the product?
Post Incident Reviews - FireHydrant has made strides in creating a collaborative and flexible tool that guides people through PIRs, and with their acquisition of Blameless there have been improvements. But that area is one that has room for growth.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
FireHydrant is solving the problem of having multiple incident response tools and processes across the wider organization. Replacing several tools with a single tool that is flexible enough to meet everyone's incident response needs is crucial. A huge benefit to us is the ability to help guide responders through the incident response process - through runbook reminders and triggers. We have a wide range of incident responders, some who are in incidents every week and some that join an incident once a quarter. FireHydrant runbooks and automation help us have a consistent incident response and take away the stress and worry of common incident response and allow folks to focus on mitigating the issue, while not having to remember/focus on the process steps.

FireHydrant, a tool that facilitates incident response

  • June 21, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
FireHydrant's runbooks make incident response simple, the ability to automate the creation of slack channels, zoom bridges and reminders makes it easy to orchestrate for all roles.
Task Lists is another feature that helps make the job easier when you are in a stressful situation, as you can follow it and ensure you are not missing any important task during the incident.
What do you dislike about the product?
Before saying that there is something I don't like, perhaps I should say that it could be improved in the management of the alerts (paging) and in the configuration of the retrospective.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
FireHydrant is used to perform Incident Response, in an orchestrated way.

One Stop Shop for Incident Management

  • June 17, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The integrations are a game changer. The tool pretty much can talk to every other tool out there. The FH team has created a one-stop shop for incident management.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI can be a bit better. At the moment everything seems to be available and is kind of scattered all over the place. Sequencing and organizing with time will do wonders.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Incident Management. We are able to bring together all teams and act quickly and responsively to incidents in real-time with minimal distractions. We are able to save time spent on process and use it to resolve incidents faster.

Fairly positive, some bumps along the way

  • July 22, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The Slack integration is excellent, especially now that it's shortened to `/fh`. It's much more conducive to use.

The automated reports on the retro are also excellent.
What do you dislike about the product?
Once the retro for an issue is published, you can't un-publish it to correct any errors or add items.

Adding the ability to un-publish or amend a retro would make it so you can solicit feedback async, as well as allow better collaboration with distributed teams.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Problems & benefits:
- Alerting for issues was not standard, FH has streamlined this
- Reporting on issues was easily lost or not done, also solved now that it's automated.
- Cadence for updating the status was inconsistent, also solved by automated slack reminders.
