Running a company on QuickBase
What do you like best about the product?
This is a high-code program that someone like myself, with no coding background, can easily create apps that create performance boosts in any aspect of the business flow. After gaining experience in the system, I self-taught how to make it more efficient and with the our amazing account manager and sales engineer fine tuned even more.
What do you dislike about the product?
When building multiple reports, the single drag feature can become quite cumbersome. To have a multi drag feature or even Ctrl click to select multiple at once throughout the list would be great.
Also, the search feature can be a little annoying. It is an auto search and if one letter or number is incorrect you have to wait for the page to load and then erase and re-type. I like how the mobile version allows you to toy type then click search.

Its a great tool, and can Grow Endlessly

It makes it straight forward for users to be able to add new items and keeps things clean. You can also have really nice custom API connections to make it even better.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the restrictions on the form layout can make things look odd.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Everything, We are getting away from email even by using the notifications and alerts to drive work flow.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Have a plan before you start. Decide on your business process, then make the system support that.
Super easy way to build customized cloud-based applications
What do you like best about the product?
It is incredibly easy to build a highly customized application. We are a marketing team that serves as a "shared service center," so we needed a tool that provides both a front-end to capture "tickets" and a back-end to manage our projects. We couldn't find any existing tools that would work with this, so we turned to Quickbase to build our own. It has worked exceptionally well for us.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there were some more automated abilities that push Quickbase past being solely a database platform. For example, it would be great if we could build in workflows so that when someone submits a new ticket, it would automatically assign multiple tasks in a sub-table based on a workflow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quickbase serves jointly as a helpdesk and project management solution for us. It has been enormously helpful.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be prepared to put some work into setting the system up up front. However, it is actually relatively easy to do, and the customizability is excellent. The only downside is that it's really just a powerful database - concepts like macros or similar do not exist in Quickbase.
Quickbase: Web Based Database with great programming capabilities..
What do you like best about the product?
I love that you are able to make API calls easily and that there is such a great community.
What do you dislike about the product?
Mobile needs more attention. I don't like the way it only shows 2 fields.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tasks that took hours now take minutes. It is a great benefit to be able to inject data from one table to another upon form generation.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just get it , you won't regret it.
Excellent Tool for Easily Developing Custom Applications
What do you like best about the product?
Quickbase allows you to develop apps for just about anything you can think of or more importantly anything you need. The ability to quickly and easily manipulate data in a meaningful way is incredible. The speed of the website is extremely responsive for how much data your working with. Sometimes you forget your working within a database that isn't in the same LAN you're on. Their Security is some of the best in the business.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a few things that they could work on:
Report Customization - While you most certainly can get the data you need, the ability to format that data in a more visually appealing way is very limited
Dedicated Mobile App - I know this is in the works and what is available currently does work

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We work in the Security Industry, Access Control, Video Surveillance & Intrusion. Its exceptionally difficult (Near impossible) to find any Of the Shelf software that can handle all of the nuances that exist in this business. The ability to Create a custom process based on the way we need to work for our clients is unmatched when using Quickbase.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try everything else you can find and try quickbase last. I went through a LOT of other softwares trying to shoe horn our business into their models but there is nothing as comprehensive or as easy to customize as quickbase.
An amazing platform to build your business
What do you like best about the product?
Quickbase is one of those products that you start working on, fall in love with, and then can't imagine your life without it.
It is a simple and intuitive platform that allows a regular, non-developer to build complex applications that meet business process and workflow, without as much as one line of code.
Having tried to use other systems to attempt the same, I could easily see the difference in usability, and getting to a final result. The other would've taken months to just learn them, and more months to being building the application.
Quickbase is a versatile product, for simple things like storing flat tables, but its power comes in when you start working with relational databases, and reporting. It sounds more complicated than it really is.
If you're in the market for such a product, or are currently dabbling with software like Filemaker, do yourself a favor and check out Quickbase first ... you'll be thankful you did.

What do you dislike about the product?
The one main issue I have with Quickbase is the very minimal ability to format and brand your reports.
The report features are very rich, and the data is amazing, however, sending that to a client directly from Quickbase is almost impossible, which requires the use of 3rd party software, almost always.
For internal use, it's perfect though.

I run a hosting business, with a unique set of parameters that need to be tracked, so an out of the box product simply wouldn't have accommodated those needs.
With Quickbase, I was able to create both a CRM, a link to all resources, and a ton of other pieces that made the workflow seamless. There is still work that needs to be done, but the ability to go to the Quickbase application, and change the schema to match a new business process is invaluable, and I've never had to hire a developer to do any of those things. (I'm not a developer, myself, I just know how to use Excel :) )

Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're looking at a product that falls within the competition...
1- Realize that it's not really a competitor. (I say that so confidently, because Quickbase's feature-set makes it quite unique)
2- Also be aware that you'd need to be working on multiple aspects of that product. (i.e: database design, then front-end, at a minimum)
3- You will almost certainly require at least one if not more than one developer / database architect to do the same thing you can do yourself with Quickbase.
