What do you like best about the product?
Allows you to monitor the services of our QA cluster
Intuitive interface
Microservices oriented
Medium level implementation
What do you dislike about the product?
Does not allow monitoring of E2E operations
Not oriented to mobile technologies
Limited transaction traceability
Pricing
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it to monitor our cluster, in order to centralize its current status within our monitoring project in a friendly dashboard.
The observability of our cluster improved and we can now have centralized and deep monitoring.

Excellent and efficient management tool

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
- UI display is simple
- Overall view of erroneous call to endpoints and latency is very useful to find performance issues of the monitored software
- Ease of adding new applications to monitor
- Customization of the pages is easy even for beginners.
What do you dislike about the product?
- Finding specific endpoint usages based on request content (e.g. body) can be difficult, and the UI could make it far more obvious
- Direct integrations with third-party providers such as Grafana would be very appreciate
- The way kubernetes resources are represented is now always clear and could be improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This platform helps us determine and find the root cause of the problem, which causes performance to degrade. Monitor in real time and provide instant alerts on issues.

A useful tool to monitor the whole environment

  • February 17, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use Instana mostly to understand which APIs are returning errors or to understand which are too expensive in term of time consuming. I like the way Instana groups the results in several graph to undestand better in fewer time. And I like the way things are linked together: starting from the API I can go lower to the data/repository layer and see if a query is taking too much to complete.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sincerely I haven't found something wrong, or missing, basing on the use I made of the product. Maybe, in my opinion, Instana seems a "read only" tool, I mean I use Instana to find issues, than I have to go to that system and act manually. I know that there are so many tools and systems to control and to handle, but maybe it could be useful to give the user some "restart that thing that is not working" features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a cloud environment based on AWS servers and Kubernetes orchestrator. Instana is useful to have a snapshot of the entire environment, monitoring low-level machines, pods/containers, services, DBs, etc. We have alerts enabled, it's useful to have a notification when something is wrong, even when you are not alway logged in or you have a tab of Instana in your browser.

Instana gives you the best dashboards and insights

  • February 17, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to filter data according to the requirement to get the exact insights is a big help. Visualising this kinds of data always helps businesses gain confidence about their decisions.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the filters could be a bit confusing while selecting the timelines and while selecting the exact resource for which you want to pull the data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We get regular reports for the memory and CPU utilisation on our infrastructure. We can tune the parameters in a way where we can accomodate the requirements, usage and in turn can take better business decisions.

One of the best APM tools in the market

  • February 17, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Instana provides an APM tool that fosters teams' capability to observe and analyze distributed applications.
Its capabilities provide deep analysis of metrics and traces in apps, with easy integration with different languages.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some desired capabilities, such as synthetic monitoring, are not fully integrated right now. IBM is pushing to provide these capabilities soon into instana, this will boost its monitoring capabilities.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Instana provides centralized analysis of metrics, application performance monitoring and traceability in a microservices distributed landscape. This enables teams with enhanced debugging capabilities.

The top application management tracker - Instana.

  • February 17, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
On a single screen, Instana presents the status of the complete architecture. The days of logging into the server box to monitor the Java process, heap space, garbage collection numbers, or other information are long gone. We must keep in mind that all of these call for extra adjustments. But, Instana now bears full accountability for us in our organisation. I neglected to explain that there is also API monitoring. Using this tool allows us to troubleshoot real-time client issues and maintain system stability, among many other benefits. used to keep an eye on our web service integration layer for more than ten years. Always simple to use and modify. When it comes to the features I look for in an APM, Instana provides simplicity and precision.
What do you dislike about the product?
really little to hate. Nevertheless, instana frequently consumes a significant amount of CPU power, making it challenging to debug and certify the project. The INSTANA team's delayed reaction, which can take weeks, is the major issue. It's not a major issue, so I wouldn't say I dislike it, but I don't like that Instana doesn't support installing in Windows because it makes it difficult to obtain the documentation you need. I worry that the tracer integration will force us to use the platform (a variant of Open Tracing). Moreover, there aren't many SDKs available for lesser-known languages.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Servers, transactions, the overall infrastructure, and the environment's health are all being monitored. Even some of our mainframe work is being watched by it (integrations mostly). Instana, which comes from tools like Zabbix, enables us to monitor more than just the usual things like CPU, RAM, and storage in order to more thoroughly identify issues. Also, it enables us to spot issues before they arise. I enjoy the notice since it helps me rapidly monitor my surroundings. I enjoy early warning capabilities that let me know when any services, servers, or applications are down and make it simple for me to learn about it while also providing me with an amazing detailed report about it.

Excellent tool to monitor systems

  • February 16, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing is that everything is done automatically with the artificial intelligence it has.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing that I have found that gives a problem is that alarms that are not valid cannot be excluded.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Detection of errors instantly and thus we can act more quickly.

Easy installation and instrumentation of metrics

  • February 16, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Well-distributed board, very good level of logs and performance. Additionally, instrumentation in less complex or legacy projects is very easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Setting up legacy projects for custom metrics is quite complicated, as we find little information or examples for this.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
we have custom metric panels, where we can monitor the health of our applications, as well as alerts in case of incidents, and we also use them to track changes when we make deployments.

Performance Engineer

  • February 16, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
How it shows the status of the infra components and drills it down to get to the error message.
What do you dislike about the product?
Often we've come across the issues such as upgrading Instana screws up our performance tests, thus our releases are delayed and we end up reverting to the older version of Instana.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking the application's performance in an efficient way.

Full stack observability solution

  • February 16, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
As part of the engineering team, we rely on Instana for comprehensive visibility into our application. It integrates metrics and traces, which are invaluable to us as we seek to scale our product and broaden our user base.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am concerned that the tracing integration locks us into the platform (a variant of Open Tracing). Also, there is a lack of SDKs for other, less mainstream languages.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It gives us an all-in-one platform to collect and analyze application metrics and traces. It is an invaluable help when debugging and troubleshooting performance issues in our services.
