My brief experience with Meltwater has been very positive, both with the product and the support.
What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater has been very helpful with researching media contacts and for pitching stories to members of the media.
What do you dislike about the product?
Most of my dislikes were taken care of when I went through the training session with a member of Meltwater.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The benefits are easy. Meltwater provides quick access to local, state, regional and national media with quick searches and allows us to pitch stories on whatever the topic pertains to.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Would highly recommend to anyone who engages with media or works in the public relations industry. But, make sure you do the training. It's a big help.
Great PR Tracking Tool
What do you like best about the product?
Although Meltwater has an excellent web-based platform, what I like best are the e-mail notifications that come into my inbox twice a day. It gives me a quick glance view at publicity that we are getting and also shows me activity on our competitors.
What do you dislike about the product?
As with any tracking software, Meltwater sometimes aggregates notifications that don't pertain to us. Our account manager is responsive to our requests to correct those issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Meltwater's Media Monitoring Service as our primary source of press release pick-ups and news stories. Meltwater reports are frequently our first notification that publicity has appeared. We also benefit from the reporting tool and incorporate the coverage in our monthly reports to senior leadership.
Meltwater has allowed my company to comprehensively manage press mentions.
What do you like best about the product?
I like the clean simple interface. Additionally, like the level of support from our account rep.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish you could create a search for negative sentiment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solving more comprehensive press monitoring. This allows our marketing team to prepare reports for internal stakeholders.

To give it a try.
Meltwater has been a huge help in tracking and analyzing client coverage.
What do you like best about the product?
I like the support team. Cody Wise has been a huge help no matter our request or need.
What do you dislike about the product?
There have been more than a few times that the Influencer database has been out of date and/or provided inaccurate contact info.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking client coverage in a timely and thoughtful way. Quickly and efficiently identifying influencers and creating targeted media lists.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I'd just be clear in your expectations in terms geographic reach (we had to pay additional for Canada); also inquire HOW and HOW OFTEN the list of influencers is updated. Otherwise the coverage tracking and analytics is fantastic and the support team is wonderful.

The ability to search PR performance for the archives and compare to current events

The toughest part is building out search terms for our events in a way that captures maximum data.

We are able to share & measure the PR value of our events. We can share the value of our events with our Marketing Partners.

What do you like best about the product?
We use Meltwater to track our news, send out our press releases, research journalists, and build media lists.
Its been a great tool and the staff is always a phone call or email away.

Searching for a reporter on a press list is not easy as the tool is now.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We work to help older adults and people with disabilities access affordable health care and through our advocacy efforts, we work to protect and strengthen Medicare.
Automatically summarizing our electronic presence in a way I could never duplicate manuarlly.

The ability to structure searches to increase the signal-to-noise ratio.

Periodic reports are not as useful as they might be.

Need to be able to measure our PR efforts to help justify efforts spent. Largely realized.

Great product for media monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
What I really like about Meltwater is revised interface and easy to use functions. Our account manager is very easy to work with and finds us solutions to our needs when problems arise. Without her, our experience probably wouldn't be as robust.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not really a dislike but I'd prefer more scheduled training for our users as well as periodic check ins with technical support (other than our account manager).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're able to track earned media in our key target markets as well as get more in depth analysis than ever before.
Meltwater software
What do you like best about the product?
Being able to set instant notifications for specific outlets and clients, in depth media coverage, reps are very responsive and quick to get in touch with.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not being able to track The New York Times or The Wall Street Journal is a bit of a headache as we need to rely on Google Alerts and manual searches. It's also a bit of a headache not being able to adjust the format for the coverage reports you can download off Meltwater.

Tracking media coverage for our clients and being able to send over top hits right when they go live.
