Using Meltwater for Media Monitoring

  • June 15, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that Meltwater curates media coverage from across the country into one easy-to-find location, and that it includes audience numbers for those clips. They also have a fantastic customer service team.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that the analytics can't be run off of a specific tag, since tags are what we use to designate the coverage we claim from all the coverage the system curates. I also dislike how many blogs and local publications are still not being tracked by the system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This significantly shortens the amount of time I spend monitoring so I can move on to bigger projects faster in the mornings.

Personal review of Meltwaters Social posting platform

  • June 15, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I only use the scheduler tool on Meltwater for all our social and find it easy to use, easy to edit after you've set a schedule. Overall it's a much more robust and simplistic tool than the tool I was using previously.
What do you dislike about the product?
When there is an error with a post there are no details as to why it happened, would like to know why an error occurred, i.e. = post duplicate, system down etc...
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Scheduling posts ahead of time allow us to have a well planned out social strategy and schedule posts for any single timeframe vs depending on one person to post daily. I lay out the strategy for our team, write the posts, collect posts from others and edit as I set them up in the scheduler.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I can only speak on the social posting platform as others in my organization run the analytics and the PR monitoring. I would say the social posting platform is by far the best I've used. It's very easy to schedule posts and edit as well as do one offs from anywhere anytime.

    Education Management

So far, our experience with Meltwater has been enlightening and positive.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that we are able to combine our social monitoring with our other PR monitoring and influencer database all in one place, giving us a well-rounded experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there were more niche bloggers in your influencer database.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We want to make sure that we are gathering as much coverage for our partner as possible. We feel that the tool has been able to gather this coverage for us accurately and makes sharing metrics back to the client easy.

Good support; hard to export results in the right way.

  • June 15, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Support is really good. Meghan has been super helpful to our team on setting up and using the system.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like how it's difficult to export tagged posts. I want an easy way to share about ~20 posts per month that have been tagged so I can send these to my team. Right now, I have to send this as a newsletter then PDF the email I get to my Gmail. Often times, several of the profile pictures are missing too. I'd like a word doc export that I could manipulate for my monthly reporting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monitoring mentions of our work beyond just our specific name and handle. The advanced queries are really helping do this!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
allow for Twitter likes and RTs

Reliable but could use some improvement

  • June 15, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how the daily reports tell you the amount of hits right in the title, also that they come at the same time every morning and separate by key word. I don't use the analytics very often but it seems that they work alright for what we need.
What do you dislike about the product?
Many mentions are missed and there are so many that it would be great if it was sorted by tier of outlet. It it sometimes really overwhelming to look at the giant list when it isn't segmented by outlet but just by keyword.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to see our reach and use these reports to show leadership how many

Awesome

  • June 15, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
the ability to reach reporters and the ability to monitor what our competitors are doing. Benchmarking is important.
What do you dislike about the product?
Regarding reporters, the database is not always accurate. Also it is not easy to identify the editors for a particular area.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Media outreach. Boosting social media performance. We get great ideas from our benchmarking as to stories to push out.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Highly recommend Meltwater if you are seeking great media exposure or for benchmarking purposes.

Comprehensive and easy to use

  • June 15, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to track our competitor coverage and filter out press releases which is nearly impossible to do with other PR monitoring tools. With Meltwater we were able to build our customized top tier list and filter all coverage by those publications which saved my team countless hours looking through irrelevant articles.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be difficult to understand value in some of the chart/graphs offered through analytics. This is mostly because we have a specific way of measuring success internally.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to quickly and easily monitor for coverage of our company and our competitors and report back to our leadership.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Meltwater has great customer service and takes pride in their product. They are constantly improving, adding new features, and listening to customer feedback.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater has been a great way for us to consolidate media coverage, and uncover lots of social media posts we normally wouldn't see.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's actually nothing I can think of that I don't like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy access to media coverage, and the newsletter feature has gone over very well with the leadership at our institution.
