Meltwater: the simple and efficient media tracker
What do you like best about the product?
That MW can track all media hits and mentions in a simple to read format
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface could be cleaner and the program "smarter"

Keeping a pulse on the media reaction to my organization

What do you like best about the product?
Morning Report emails are extremely helpful, very easy-to-access and knowledgeable project management team.
What do you dislike about the product?
The newsletter option is not as robust as we would like, which is why we've not pursued that direction.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Building our PR efforts, sharing more relevant articles for our industry, exploring other Meltwater options like social media integration to help our business.
Does the trick
What do you like best about the product?
Analytics culling has gotten much faster over the past year.
What do you dislike about the product?
Customer service is lackluster. I feel we're not using the tool to its full capacity because of this.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need the analytics--we could be using for media database searching as well, but we like Cision better.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Really do your due diligence in comparing Cision, Metlwater and Critical Mention when deciding on what will work best for your needs. Prices are all very different, but sometimes the better support is worth it. Critical Mention seems to have the best support, Cision has the best overall capabilities and is tied with PR Newswire. We are just sort of in limbo with Meltwater as we've had them for a while.

The ability to easily track where we are being mentioned across all media (Social, News...)

It is pretty difficult to narrow down key influencers

Controlling the negative publicity and how we respond to these messages

We used to have a staffer collect clips and now we can eliminate that role. Because Texas is such a big state, we couldn't possibly find all of our coverage and this allows us to not miss any of our earned media.
Listening and Engaging with Meltwater
What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater offers our organization the opportunity to gather information that's being reported about us and our industry. It's an excellent tool for researching and connecting with journalists while listening to audience engagement via social media.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes difficult to streamline and build specific media contact lists.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Strategic way to push out information, but also a great opportunity to listen and evaluate industry news and comments. Meltwater enables us stay on top of breaking information and relevant industry trends.

What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy the platform is to monitor customers and prospective customers we may have otherwise missed. UGC and engagement are top priorities for our team and now we are able to interact with anyone who is trying to reach us.
What do you dislike about the product?
The sentiment monitoring isn't as smart as I would hope for. Most of the time everything is marked as neutral or even negative when it's not true.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've realized how far our reach really is and have been able to form relationships with many more customers than we could have before.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want to make sure you are reaching all of your customers and have a handle on any press or social mentions that are going on about your company, Meltwater is the best solution for you.
Meltwater is helpful and still growing
What do you like best about the product?
I like the dashboard which shows ad value and reach numbers... helps to quantify and validate media coverage. I also like being able to download contacts from their database. Their customer service is also great.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some media contacts are listed in their influencer database, but do not have a unique email or phone...it's the generic email for the outlet. If they are listed, they should have their unique contact info. Also would love to have filters to sort a search result for outlets by reach. Lastly, there are still hits that are missed, especially in the print service.

Meltwater helps to quantify the value of earned media coverage.
Great program with few flaws
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of sending targeted emails to a contact list
What do you dislike about the product?
The database of clients is still lacking a little and requires more manual input from us
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can create and maintain contact lists for my clients for pitching and PR campaigns. I can know how many people have opened my emails and have gained several coverage opportunities from these emails through Meltwater.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure to pull any current contact lists you have and save them for uploading to Meltwater. Also take full advantage of the Meltwater tracking emails - like Google alerts but better.

What do you like best about the product?
The wide variety of features has allowed us to eliminate some tools and move our team members onto the same tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is a complex system and so it is taking time to learn it for our team. Also, certain features are new to Meltwater so we are going through some of the learning pains as they learn the new tools as well.

We are using it to track our PR and social media efforts.
