Fantastic tool for PR professionals
What do you like best about the product?
The tools available with Meltwater are definitely powerful. We primarily use it for media tracking and social media tracking. But their customer service is amazing! I've never had an issue with reaching out to them for small things.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are so many extra - and very intriguing - features that are a little out of budget for the startup I work for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater helps us keep track of our media it allows me to organize my work to create a better experience for my clients.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would say that I highly recommend Meltwater to companies with lots of different projects going on at the same time.
Review of Meltwater for Media Monitoring and PR Analytics
What do you like best about the product?
I like that Meltwater helps our team track press hits for our clients in one place. The daily emails were extremely helpful, as I got a snapshot of the clips that posted the previous day without having to log into the platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
Meltwater a lot of the times mess press clips, so we have to do supplemental tracking to create a comprehensive report for our clients.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest problem it solves is tracking press clips for our clients. We used to use Google to search for press clips which can be time-consuming.

What do you like best about the product?
I love the robustness of the Meltwater platform. I can create all different types of queries to track different types of media mentions.
I also love that it sends me daily emails with a list of all our media mentions that I can customize myself.

Due to the robustness of the platform, there’s a slight learning curve for employees who have to learn how to use it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater is helping us organize and track all of our media mentions. Before we would rely on Google to track everything, and there were definitely pieces that slipped through the cracks. A benefit of Meltwater is that it’s helped us build partnerships with other businesses by seeing who is talking about our company already.

We’ve been happy with it since using it for 2 years. We have a great account manager who is very attentive to our needs and keeps us up to date with all the newest updates with Meltwater.

The dashboard and monitoring is great and saves me tons of time in the morning. It picks up a lot of the stories we need to cover.

The influencer database could use some updates.

Ask them to come in, they are great at helping you with understanding the software
A useful starting point, but important to understand the tool's limitations.
What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater's media monitoring function allows to you to easily create and save boolean searches for a large number of clients/campaigns. By playing with keywords, you are able to filter out a lot of irrelevant content. But the tool does sometimes miss coverage.
What do you dislike about the product?
The influencer data base is a good starting point for identifying target journalists and building a media list. But the tool is often out of date or has general outlet email addresses for specific contacts. Oftentimes, extra internet sleuthing is required to have an accurate, up to date list.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Meltwater primarily for media monitoring and building media lists for MR campaigns. It cuts down on monitoring time and gives a starting point for building media lists.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Understand the benefit it can provide, but also be aware of its limitations. Play with keywords for media monitoring, this is easy to do and will help make your media monitoring fast and easy. Don't rely too heavily on the media database for accuracy, always double check media lists.

What do you like best about the product?
Receiving daily emails in my inbox that report any press or social mentions. This helps us to keep executives up to date and be able to more easily interface with the media.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a learning curve for usability, but it can be easily overcome with some training. I have been using it for over a year and feel that I have not yet learned or used all of its capabilities. The time it takes to fully explore it is significant, but it is probably worth it in the end.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We now have the most up to date mentions and press always at our fingertips, allowing us to stay in the know faster and more efficiently.

Take the training before you dig in!

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to generate reports and daily news emails.
What do you dislike about the product?
I WANT to like this service. There are a lot of ways it can be useful to me. But honestly, the incessant constant follow-ups and disguised "support" calls that are really just sales calls make dealing with them basically unbearable. The majority of your target market is PR professionals, Meltwater. And frankly, most of us see straight through your aggressive sales tactics and they drive us insane. If I have already paid for your service and are using it, please, please leave me alone and let me use it. Don't call me 5-6 times a week trying to sell me on the "next" thing. And if I tell you I'll get back to you, don't throw a meeting on my calendar for the next day uninvited. There are more effective ways to get upsells and attention. Also, your media contact database (arguably the most important tool for PR professionals) is definitely subpar to other networks out there.
