Love using this for media monitoring and sending out newsletters.
What do you like best about the product?
This product is perfect for monitoring the engagement of social posts or editorials regarding stories on your company or university. It is such an incredible way to figure out what news is breaking about your "place or thing" of interest.
What do you dislike about the product?
I only really dislike how you need training to figure it out. It's a bit tough to do on your own. Once you learn, it's better but it's a bit confusing, especially if you aren't familiar with the terms.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
No business problems. Some benefits include easily making media lists from contact information of journalists in the area. Also, allowing us to compile all good news about our university and send out in a form of a newsletter to retirees.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely utilize if you're looking to brand your company through new and social postings. Good for taking control of the narrative. Also, good to see analytics and traffic. We love using it for pushing our positive stories to local media.
More modern approach to press tracking
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to monitor placements in conjunction with google analytics/web traffic.
The additional software for influencers.
The additional software for influencers.
What do you dislike about the product?
That they don't offer print tracking, so they were not an all in one solution for our comms team
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Attributing PR to sales
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Meltwater software is adaptable and moving forward in the right direction, it has progressed positively from a customer standpoint in the last four years
Great for listening, but not as great for media outreach
What do you like best about the product?
The social listening updates and reports
What do you dislike about the product?
The lack of 'smart' lists for media contact updates - you manually have to redo Boolean searches.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Media outreach lists and management, social and digital listening.
Meltwater allows for tracking data easily
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use and the ability to see what pr strategies are working effectively by monitoring their reach and interaction. I think that by using it and tracking data, we can see what works and what doesn't on a much more consistent basis. Before using Meltwater, we could sometimes misplace our time working on projects that didn't penetrate our market the way we wanted to. Now, we can see what our audience reacts to and what they don't, and more importantly, how we achieve prime acquisition rates that turn views and interaction into profits on a consistent, reliable basis.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the interface isn't as streamlined as I would hope it to be, but in general, it's not an issue. IT can be difficult to do deep-dives into data and work your way around the nitty-gritty portions of acquisition information, but I've found that's the same for most softwares.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater has allowed me to see where I am getting the most traction on my campaigns and allows me and coworkers to put our effort towards projects that have a higher rate of success.
Very Outdated
What do you like best about the product?
you can target certain beats, journalists and publications
What do you dislike about the product?
the majority of contacts say "updated more than 3 months ago" so its hard to determine the month or year the contact was last updated.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
finding appropriate contacts
Good database but major distribution flaw
What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater has a large database of contacts, and it is easy to create and organize selected contacts into media lists that are integrated with the distribution system.
What do you dislike about the product?
My main problem with Meltwater is I started noticing that after I sent out a press release or other distribution, several contacts were not being sent the email. It did not seem to be due to bounces or a bad email address, but rather I discovered by talking with my account representative that the contacts must have unsubscribed from receiving emails through Meltwater. There is no indication on the contacts' profile page that they have unsubscribed from Meltwater, so you have no way of knowing if they will receive the distribution until you send - and even then, Meltwater doesn't point out for you the contacts that didn't receive the email. I simply started noticing that a media list that said it had 40 contacts on it only delivered to 28, for example, and I needed to export both the media list and the actual list of recipients to sort out who was missing. This was a major nuisance, obviously. Even if Meltwater doesn't want to remove the contacts entirely from the database, there should be very clear indication on each of their contact pages that if you try to contact them through Meltwater, they will not receive the communication and you should instead email them directly from your email account.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Media outreach for new research and other developments, by building lists of relevant media contacts.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use Meltwater for access to the database but don't rely on it to send distributions.
Does the job, but has errors
What do you like best about the product?
I like the feature to build your own dashboard and put in the terms/people you want for that segment. I think all the features are ideal and useful.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have encountered many problems with wrong numbers and Meltwater not picking up things it should be. We have to call over and over again to ask questions and clarify, most of the time they have to get back to use or say its the social media platform's problem...
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It does help to put numbers to social media and organic efforts for a business, and they do have customer service reps that are easy to get ahold of.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Its hard to know what is a Meltwater problem and what is a social media platform problem, so beware.
Confusing without Training
What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater does allow a large overview of your media hits, company mentions, or interviews from those within your organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike how hard it is to summarize data over time. For example, when trying to see how many media hits one paper or post had over the course of a few months and by whom it is hard to pull the data and condense it into just what you need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This allows you to see a big picture of who and how many people you are reaching, whether what you are hearing about your organization is positive or negative, and where your pieces were picked up. This is to the benefit of strategizing internally, allowing businesses to see what works best for them in outreach.
Great PR and Social media tracking
What do you like best about the product?
I like that this allows us to track multiple things in one place and the aesthetics of the site. It is pretty easy to navigate and I like that you are able to easily customize the specific dashboards based on specific needs. The account support that I have experienced has been great and our rep checks in to make sure that everything is going well in the program.
What do you dislike about the product?
It isn't the most intuitive program to use and so it does take some training and adjusting to use it. I also noticed that when we had a press release sent out, they were not monitoring that specific service so it skewed our results a bit and had I not been working with a rep to set up our monitoring, I'm not sure I would have been able to figure it out myself.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater allows us to create multiple dashboards to review not only our media and PR presence, but also those of our competitors. This has helped us to get a more in depth look at the social reach of other similar companies in our industry. We are able to adjust our strategy based on this.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a helpful software if you have a lot of media buzz surrounding your business, as a startup I'm not sure that it is providing value to us quite yet as we aren't doing much PR at the moment.
Meltwater Review
What do you like best about the product?
I like how involved the software is. There are levels, and it'll track just about anything you want to track.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be difficult to use especially if you're unfamiliar with the software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've used Meltwater to track inputted keywords from all aspects of social media and the news. This helps the marketing department, and the company, figure out how we're being portrayed in the news and how we can better brand ourselves for the betterment of our customers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a great product when you have a budget. It can get pricy, but it's an amazing media monitoring tool, especially for large companies with many customers/followers.
