Meltwater
What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater is great! Customer service is the best part. I can call the team and they help me so much, super knowledgable and effective training calls.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish it was more customizable, I wish you could download dashboard data as a PDF, rather than password protected link.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
So many! PR Analytics is great, we did some press releases too
Customer Service is Unmatched
What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater's customer service is second to none. I have an account manager that is very hands on and I know I can call on at any time. Anytime I need something the turnaround time is almost instant, and they offload a lot of the tactical things that I don't like managing.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface can be a little tricky to navigate in the beginning, but nothing insurmountable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sending out press releases, finding media contacts, optimizing news announcements for specific markets and wires.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure to do the onboarding so you can understand al of the capabilities of the platform.

What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater has helped our organization to hone in on our outreach strategy and marketing efforts in a very organized manner. I love how responsive Meltwater's team has been in helping every department in our organization to utilize Meltwater to its highest capability.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the UX is a little incomprehensive and you have to spend some time getting used to it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're learning how to effectively outreach to our community and local media sources in order to better maintain a cohesive marketing strategy throughout the year; as our annual strategy often fluctuates depending on what particular program is in need of the most outreach.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Meltwater is a necessary tool for any size company to properly build, track and maintain strategy in marketing, PR and development.
Great product with flexibility, kept from a perfect 10 by account restrictions
What do you like best about the product?
The product itself is excellent and it scrapes everything out there like a pro. Looking for your brand to mentioned anywhere? You're in good shape.
What do you dislike about the product?
Regional account restrictions really put a damper on our ability to use it org-wide. As a global company, being able to SEE international stuff but not grant access to our employees outside of the US without paying a CONSIDERABLE additional sum was a big disappointment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being proactive about industry outreach and mentions, as well as creating summaries of marketing activity.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great for a team of any size, but seats are expensive!

What do you like best about the product?
Collection place for all of the press and social mentions of our company.
Amazing customer service; my rep is always there whenever I need help solving something.
Compact reports that can be easily modified and sent out from the platform.

What do you dislike about the product?
A steep learning curve when getting started on the platform with how to use all of the tools and charts. I suppose the steepest part of the curve is when you are trying to make things more custom than the out-of-the-box version of the charts.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sentiment analysis, press coverage tracking. We've seen that Meltwater have been able to help us with both of these problems.

You can set up influencers as contacts and post from your dashboard.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish Meltwater cost a little less money.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One problem being solved is the ability to do social monitoring. A major benefit is being able to filter. Sentiment analysis is very helpful.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Contact lists are a great way to contact media members. It works well on desktop and mobile. The dashboards can provide user-friendly reports. Running sentiment reports on individual posts/releases is a nice feature. Overall it's very good for sending press releases and keeping track of coverage in the media. We also receive email notifications when certain words or our brand are mentioned.
Good Product
What do you like best about the product?
This was the first media monitoring platform that I have used, and it made jumping in to using it very simple. It sends a daily notification of the top mentions, which has been very useful in allowing me to identify news stories concerning my organization that I otherwise might not have known about.
What do you dislike about the product?
Logging in to review further than the email provides has been difficult, but that could be because of the way that my login was set up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Knowing about what is going on has allowed me to be more proactive and provided opportunities for further promoting positive stories. It has proved to be a very useful tool.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This product is worth trying it out. It's great having a second set of eyes on what is going on with your organization in the media, as it is impossible to always catch everything on your own.

Ability to search in an influencer data base is a much needed tool in PR. The Meltwater staff was always quick to help.
What do you dislike about the product?
The information is largely outdated and there are very few contacts in comparison to other databases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using Meltwater to search outreach contacts
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is ok, but if you are using it to find contacts, you will spend hours online searching..old school style.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that Meltwater is always improving and adding new features. They schedule helpful meetings with their clients to go over new things they've added to make sure we are getting the most of our subscription.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's a bit confusing at first. It is a lot more complex then the easier platform Hootesuite. Once you know how to work Meltwater though it is an extremely helpful platform to have for your business.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater allows us to customize what we receive in our newsfeeds pertaining to us. We are a park district and often mistaken with the police department when people add "PD." With Meltwater we can filter the posts pertaining to the police station out of our newsfeed. It allows us to have a more concise analysis.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would definitely recommend! A bit expensive, but really worth purchasing if you are going to be analyzing your marketing efforts.

What do you like best about the product?
When I used it, it had a large database, tracking, media value, and insights for specific clients/keywords and campaigns.
What do you dislike about the product?
The database was for more large scale clients with a national name or large media pick up. At the time a lot of hyperlocal or independent and industry focused media companies were not included.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For large campaigns or larger clients, it had a more organized system for tracking location, readership, and media value.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you have very specific clients/companies/keywords or short-term campaign projects, then this probably would not be beneficial in terms of cost. If you have large scale companies with ongoing, long-term projects, then this would be very good. You also need to specify and filter your keywords several times to get the correct groupings or accurate types of media.
