I love their news and reporter search function. It really makes it easy to create up to date lists of reporters for press releases

What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater cuts your work time in half. It simplifies so many tasks you would otherwise have to do manually. It performs smart searching within your industry to provide better results than Google and you can utilize your social media directly through the platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not the most user-friendly thing in the world. You'll definitely need some help guiding you through how to use it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
You can perform social listening, use your social media, perform targeted searches, and it makes it easy to make connections with authors and members of the press.

Their influencer platform is amazing - you can find just about anyone! Its great for finding new media for our clients.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no print coverage - not a bad thing but I had been told there was. Not the company's fault.

What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to use dashboard for media monitoring and social media mentions. Great for quick reporting and reviewing different campaigns.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't much I can describe as a "dislike," so I'll just share my personal challenges. Those challenges are likely more a result of my not giving the amount of time needed to really learn the platform as well as i should have, but I run into challenges creating my different media monitoring reports to get the exact results i need, however the staff is AMAZING about helping me to achieve the reporting necessary to do my internal reporting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Less time pulling media hits for reporting, more information about our social media engagement and reach. Also added engage tool which has really allowed us to report our social media impact, has been particularly useful during covid-19 and the increased use of social media for programming. Scheduling of all our social posts in one place has been very important to our team with more than one person posting to accounts, we can time things out more effectively. also adding the AI component, Meltwater has really helped us to save time writing and developing press releases
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you really understand how to use the.product thoroughly. It is not necessarily that intuitive, even with a tech savvy brain.
Weak trade media support and poor customer service
What do you like best about the product?
The excitement prior to actually using the product. The attractive user interface. The demo. This is an alluring product and we were quite excited to be moving towards it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Weak contact database. Many editors and writers at major industry pubs, some in their roles for over 10 years, were missing - making us wonder how trustworthy the rest of the data could be. Feature stories in major industry pubs, including cover stories (which we worked on) were completely absent. Makes us wonder what else was missing.
When their retention people called, they did little listening and lots o talking. Their main message was "well, we have many happy users..." Great answer.
ALSO: They also offered to add the missing contacts if I provided them - which misses the point by a mile.
We did not renew. High on salesmanship. Weak on execution - at least for trade media.

Since no refund was available, we abandoned the product and wrote it off as a total loss.

This space is becoming much more competitive and also full of indirect competitors. Shop and TEST IT FIRST against your own use cases - not DEMO data.
Meltwater is the Winner in Social Media Monitoring.
What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater is extremely useful in being able to monitor what is being said about our company on a global scale - specifically on social media. I get an email every morning that shows me exactly who is saying what and on which platform. From here I can take action and ensure that I'm staying ahead of any negative - and positive! - remarks. We also have the media monitoring set-up, but we don't use this as much.
What do you dislike about the product?
Meltwater's platform can be a bit tricky to learn. It's not a very simple platform - though it's relatively drag-and-drop, but you have to be uber-aware of how to put together the lists you need so everything will be monitored correctly. That's where the Account Managers come into play. So, on the whole, if you don't have a lot of time to learn the platform - it's virtually impossible.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We primarily use Meltwater as a social media monitoring tool. We're a global organization, so it can be difficult to have a full picture of how our business is being referenced across the world. But Meltwater solves that problem!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think Meltwater would be best suited for those who use every aspect of the platform - PR, Media, and Social Media Monitoring. Definitely try it out if you're only using for one or the other, but it's something that benefits an organization that will go "all-in".
Simple platform to use for online news coverage tracking.
What do you like best about the product?
I like that you can easily set up searches for online and social media news coverage within the platform. It is easy to collect information on coverage -- such as number of placements and total potential coverage data. It is easy to tag placements and create charts to represent the data.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish Meltwater had the function to search "last month's" news coverage. This is a feature that needs to be added, rather than just having the current month, quarter, 14-days or week. I also dislike the way social media coverage is displayed. I wish there was a simpler way to review that type of coverage. There should also be the capability to directly download/export reports from Meltwater, rather than having the reports emailed to you for download. This can be very inconvenient and cost my team time when trying to keep these reports moving.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater has helped my team accurately search online news coverage for the B2B industry, within a very niche market. The customer service and support is excellent and they are always very responsive.

This online platform is easy to use if you need to track online news and social media coverage.
