What do you like best about the product?
The thing I like best about Meltwater is the platform's usability. As a public relations professional, every day is spent researching and finding contact information for the latest press send, and Meltwater allows you to intuitively build reporter lists that are finely tuned to your subject matter. If there's one thing I've learned about reporters, it's that they don't like to receive irrelevant press releases, so to be confident in who we're targeting with our sends is invaluable.
What do you dislike about the product?
Despite the platform being easy to navigate, it still has a few kinks that force you to be creative when using it. One of those is the "beat" filtered search tool. When trying to eliminate reporters that aren't relevant to the topic of your press send and separating by beat, it generates a list of reporters that all list that beat. Unfortunately, Meltwater does not have a way to pick beats you want to exclude. It would help if there was a feature to keep the reporters narrowly focused on the beat of interest and adjacent beats, but remove reporters whose beat breadth is much broader and not of interest for your reporter list.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My everyday day-to-day work is almost entirely accomplished on Meltwater. It is vital to have an all-in-one platform where you can compose press sends, build reporter lists to send to, and then collect reports on coverage of your work. I'm not sure what we would do if we didn't have Meltwater, as it would require us to be on multiple platforms and constantly transferring information between them. Instead, we have a one-stop shop that make each day more seamless and efficient.
Clean, Clear and Flexible for our Needs
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate that Meltwater has a clean and clear interface, and that the platform is comprehensive of many different aspects of digital marketing (social listening, news analysis, publishing, etc.) It's easy to access all the information we need in one place, which is quite helpful for a small and nimble business.
What do you dislike about the product?
As of now, I haven't found many downsides of the tool. I would like if Meltwater could include their audience analysis in the original subscription plan; that would be useful for our company but I'm not sure we can add it to our existing subscription. Otherwise, this is a great platform. Our representative is always available and willing to help.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are monitoring our news coverage, monitoring our audience, publishing via social and tracking progress on our social platforms. We are a new company, so monitoring coverage (and topic mentions within our industry) is crucial for us to get off the ground. Additionally, we have a small and nimble team, and having all our tools and insights in one platform is immensely useful. It allows us to be quick and efficient.

The best is the ease of search function.
What do you dislike about the product?
The lack of an AI to help develop better searches for me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We can see where the conversations are about our brand and addressing developing issues. Most valuable is the ability to communicate better internally on what truly is an issue, vs. an anecdote.

Meltwater is easy to use and convenient. There is prompt support through the Account Managers and the online chat. Their global team can help refine searches for different languages.
What do you dislike about the product?
Their social program only tags if published on Meltwater. I hope they update that. Also, it would be great if you could add notes to stories in Explore, especially because of foreign languages.

It has helped us with social metrics and understanding press coverage of our brand. I can not stress how much it has helped with these.

Social listening with the help of boolean operators. Very good platform to track the owned mentions/conversations.

The platform is simple and intuitive, allowing the user to come up with relevant data in minutes. Meltwater allows the users to effectively meassure the real reach of a news and to monitor in real time the impact of any media engagement.

The reach on some social media outlets is somehow limited. When monitoring social media outlets such as instagram, sometimes the metrics don't seem comprehensive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater helps me measure and report the impact of our media engagement, as well as to monitor all relevant issues to the matter of interest of our clients.
This has also allow us to save resources on traditional monitoring tools, that have rendered too expensive and not agile enough.

Meltwater is a great tool for the public affairs or public relations professional. Try to allow yourself to play with the platform for a couple of days, in order to allow you to understand the truly potential of this great tool.

The ability to track and measure media coverage, create beautiful and comprehensive reports, analyze competitors' news and our own.
What do you dislike about the product?
Would like the database to improve, and some of the report-making features to be a bit easier / more intuitive.

Better ways to internally report, with metrics, to show reach and engagement, key metrics like CTRs are always great. Being able to understand share of voice and how that's growing over time has been more helpful.
Social media monitoring is great because we're able to pull in different teams' objectives or projects to track against those too.
