Best product in the market
What do you like best about the product?
Reporting with CP is a breeze. With their canned reports and the ability to create your own reports is very beneficial. I also love the fact that CP is user friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Reports when converted to excel are bit wonky.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management made easier

Cognos. It's gotten a lot better over the years. Also pulling reports from CP directly has become more fluid.

Some reporting tools straight out of Costpoint could have better compatibility with other BI and reporting software

Costpoint a Solid Choice for Government Cost Accounting
What do you like best about the product?
Costpoint meets US Government requirements for Federal contractors. It has the required structures and processes to faciliate successful data inputs and ultimately client invoicing. The level of access control is robust.
What do you dislike about the product?
For finance and accountanting personel the interface is acceptible, for other employees the timesheet and (especially) the expense report interfaces are not intuitive. We constantly receive complaints from employees reagarding these two modules.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am aware that Deltek is committed to solving the timesheet and expense report interface issues. I have been part of several customer users groups where feedback is soliciated and where Deltek has presented demos of future interface updates.
Post 8.1 upgrade experience has not been good.
What do you like best about the product?
The system functionality (for the most part) works. The Accounting and Project areas are very familiar to me and work well.
What do you dislike about the product?
The user experience is not always the best especially since bringing T&E into Costpoint.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Delivering an ERP and timekeeping system.
Great for accounting purposes but not very user friendly for the every day user.

I love that when there are problems, Deltek Support is there 80% of the time with the answer in a timely manner. Super helpful
What do you dislike about the product?
Costpoint can be very finicky with buttons that are pressed, major issues happening because one item is not checked, the interface is not very user friendly, many fields that populate themselves appear to be something an employee needs to fill out and most are unsure. Button functionality and what it's used for- not always clear. Not being able to see multiple screens at once when working with the same information can be really difficult. I find myself taking pictures on my phone so I can refer back to the information I'm working with.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Putting billable items in their respective buckets has been tremendous. Great for account purposes but seemingly difficult for time keeping purposes and the average user.

What do you like best about the product?
Costpoint is super detailed, to the point of being painfully detailed. From an accounting point of view, it's an amazing piece of software and allows a great deal of customization.
What do you dislike about the product?
The incredible detail on screens used by average employees, such as time and expenses, lead to considerable frustrations by those people. This is due to a lack of streamlined functionality and systems for screens that are focused around a user who is not an expert with costpoint.
Additional issues are the interconnectedness of costpoint screens is nigh impossible to know without using external sources. This means knowing what screens data flows to another, or is used by another, is incredibly hard to find out.

I personally do not have any direct issues which Costpoint has solved.
It is a great solution for Govt project accounting and payroll

Customer Success Manager. Costpoint is a perfect solution for project accounting and payroll

It takes a while for support to contact us and get a resolution. Time and expense don't allow the users to use employee self-service on the mobile devices

Cost point is easy to use and allows you to quickly see your data.

It requires lots of integration to be useful (this could be my company's usage of it.

Getting project financial data and integrating it with schedule and financial data.
It is the most comprehensive system for government contracts

I like that there was a lot of thought for different areas within the system that is required by government contracts
What do you dislike about the product?
It is so difficult to use and the interface is not good, you should not need to click through to find where to enter info, and things almost feel hidden. It would be nice if we could update some areas that are not used to hide them and format the system. There needs to be a way to enter clauses on the opportunity side, and there also needs to be a way for a company to identify if there is an action to that clause when that info can be written, and then those can be pulled into the contract. The projects side does not take into account the proper way to enter a subcontractor onto a CLIN line so there are multiple lines to enter to make it work correctly so you can have it correct on the project side and then on the subk. There needs to a be a better comprehensive guide that is start to finish. There needs to be a custom report to pull data quickly without having to query and then move to excel to update. in the project you should add an area to identify on the mod a description where you can add more detail that shows. The document u pload needs a full overhaul, it is so terribly hard to add docs
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
trying to have fewer separate files for tracking, but it is so hard to find some of the information and training is not good online to show new users

hire a consultant or you will struggle

Very efficient to use once you know what you are doing. Good filtering and support for bulk operations
What do you dislike about the product?
Not always the easiest to understand what is going on, but once you get it, it is powerful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it for general accounting and timesheets. It is definitely an improvement over GCS, our previous system, despite being more complex. We are able to get better data out of the system.
