What do you like best about the product?
I love Deltek Costpoint's job costing and indirect rates features. The tool provides a great level of detail, which allows me to get a P&L for every project seamlessly. Even though I'm a bit biased because I've used it throughout my career, I find that it gives us all the information we need and works perfectly for our accounting needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel like Deltek Costpoint is somewhat complex, though it seems manageable once you know the system. However, there's something about the integration with other tools; currently, we mostly do data dumps since we don't have an API running yet. I plan to integrate it with our payroll and CRM tools, but that's a goal for the future as we work on more automation. So, there's that gap at the moment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Deltek Costpoint for accounting, job costing, indirect rates, and timekeeping. It provides detailed project life cycle management and helps me access seamless P&L information for each project.

Efficient ERP but Setup Challenges

What do you like best about the product?
I like that Deltek Costpoint makes it easier to complete our ICR at the end of the year. It also simplifies separating unallowable, shared, G&A, and overhead costs compared to competitors.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no notification for journal entries, cash receipts, and vouchers that need to be approved. This is an issue because we have segregation of duties in place and need to be SOX compliant, which causes more back and forth when a notification could easily be sent to reviewers. Additionally, the alignment with US GAAP is more difficult than it could be. The initial setup was also challenging as we had to load life-to-date data instead of just point-in-time data and project history.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Deltek Costpoint helps us stay CAS compliant by integrating timekeeping with accounting. It simplifies completing the ICR and separating costs like G&A and overhead. However, it lacks notification features for approvals and has alignment challenges with US GAAP.

Accessing Costpoint from a mobile device. Previously, I primarily accessed the system using a desktop computer.

The amount of staff I manage makes it difficult on a mobile device.

I have used this software in the past. I like that you can add items to your favorites to work around those you don’t need or use often.
What do you dislike about the product?
Deleting line items on the timesheet does not leave them deleted.
