What do you like best about the product?
Project cost is my main usage secondary is financial reporting. I like using BI for reporting but I need to get access to the data fields for further reporting
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not easy to navigate I get that complexity of this system requires it but for new users it can be challenging. The most difficult hurdle is using BUDGET AND PLANNING module - I can but in budgets but getting a report the shows hours or dollars for the full period of performance by month is not available

Deltek Costpoint - The ERP for your business
What do you like best about the product?
Costpoint provides various management solutions for any company at any stage in business. The system is flexible, ensures internal control, guided management solutions for payroll, timesheets, general ledger, AR, AP, Budgeting and Procurement.
What do you dislike about the product?
From a reporting perspective, there could be some more flexibility or more formal training options for the Business Intelligence. BI is a great tool but requires a general background in data management. It would be very beneficial if Deltek provided such general knowledge to its users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Costpoint provides an almost one-stop solution for my complete ERP needs. Costpoint allows the company to manage its core processes like accounts payable, billing, accounts receivable, payroll, timekeeping, budgeting and general ledger in one place.

What do you like best about the product?
If setup properly, then Government Compliance is easy to follow. The system helps avoid mistakes if it is used in its intended methods. The system is very transparent which helps support analysis and audit needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Available bill formats is limited, and this is something Deltek should address because all customers want something just a bit different and its difficult to make presentations fit the differing circumstances without using a report writer tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps with keeping lessor trained, lessor accounting knowledge personnel from making mistakes and reduces the amount of reconciling.
A lot of things, but none of them particularly well
What do you like best about the product?
Costpoint is designed, first and foremost, to be an accounting system for government contractors. As such, it handles cost pool allocations natively for revenue recognition, billing, and project-based reporting. The cost pool functionality is not at all intuitive or "easy to use" for new adopters of Costpoint, but it is flexible enough to handle a vast majority of allocation scenarios of various complexities.
What do you dislike about the product?
Costpoint is stuck in a 1990's mindset when it comes to design, both on the front-end and under the hood. There are unreasonable limits on the length of fields, with most text-based fields being limited to 25 characters or less. Processes are often convoluted and require long experience (or substantial training) for a user to be competent with a feature. Development decisions have been made with limited flexibility in mind, and the priorities of those developments are questionable (voice-activated timesheet entry?? Really???).
And the rollout of version 8.1 of the software has been an unmitigated disaster... we are well into the second year of general release, and there is still an abysmal number of defects (some pretty major) that Deltek is struggling to solve. Support is among the worst in the business: if your issue isn't already in their script, you will have weeks to months of back-and-forth before you get anything resembling constructive help.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's an accounting system for government contractors, and we do government contract work. As mentioned previously, the cost pool allocation feature is well-developed, if often challenging to setup.
