Veeam Suite Makes VMWare easy

  • March 14, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The granular status views into all levels of the hypervisor in VeeamOne Monitor. You can drill down from the datacenter, cluster or host to get all the performance and alert data that you need in historical graphs that are much better than vCenter
What do you dislike about the product?
The license key model lagged behind the integration of the two products, so every support renewal it was a major hassle to convert and apply the license keys to the VeeamOne and Veeam B&R products. I think that has been streamlined now.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reliable and improved RPO and RTO for business critical servers with backups integrated with Exagrid dedup appliances and Replication to DR site using Veeam. With replication, I can have a cold standby for all critical servers at the DR site that can be spun up within minutes of a failure.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use Exagrid backup appliance with the Exagrid integrated repository type.

What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing to dislike so far. It has come a long way.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
data protection and the types of hypervisor that is supported.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a try. I think there's a lot of improvements made so far that will surprise users.

Most versatile backup product on the market today

  • January 27, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I guess if I had to pick one thing it would be the ease of use. Veeam's software product has come a long way in a short time. Every version they release gets easier and easier to use which makes administration tasks simple.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't know if there's anything specifically that I dislike. When it comes to IT products, they often can't predict every environment. I guess maybe they can work on reading minds.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
VM backup of hosts, clusters, and s2d clusters, along with vSphere. Seems to do everything really well.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Set up a test environment and go through their trial. Ask LOTS of questions and make sure to utilize their support. Everything from start to finish is top notch in my opinion. Their KB is good, but their support is MUCH better. They're responsive, consistent, and helpful all the way around!

VEEAM Software in ESX Environment

  • January 25, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Fast, efficient. Easy to use interface. Works very well in our ESX 6.x environment. Single pane of glass management of all our hosts and VM's. It was setup by a virtualization integrator so we are simply managing what was already setup.
What do you dislike about the product?
When we were looking at getting more experience and training, the systems engineer assigned to us was covering such a large territory that we had significant difficulty getting post-sales support. We had to rely on the main telephone number for any help. I would like to see tighter integration with ESX management console.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Snap shot recovery for failback, rollups. We'd like to take more advantage of the software to do remote disaster recovery and business continuity cases. We've been able to recover from bad software updates and OS corruptions so it's saved us a lot of time rebuilding VM's or critical server roles.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Lot's of choices out there. Many bundled with the storage vendor. Leverage that.

Great backup solution for Virtualized Environments

  • January 19, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Setup and management is easy. Had backups running in a few hours, Fewer issues with native VSS writers than with other products.
What do you dislike about the product?
Better support for non virtualized infrastructure. There is a free physical infrastructure agent, but its not supported the same as the regular products.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Simple, agentless (host based) backup of virtualized infrastructure.

Great for Data Center Backups

  • January 10, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
-Easy to install and configure
-Clear overview of backups
-Economical storage usage
What do you dislike about the product?
Retention configuration is limited for direct backup jobs; to handle good retention a backup copy is required (which first needs a direct backup), thus requiring almost duplicate jobs in some cases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data Center DRP

Best Backup Software for VMs

  • January 05, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The setup for the software is pretty straighforward, and once it is set up it pretty much just works. We've had very little difficulty getting anything to back up, and restores are a breeze as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
The retention settings for backups are not completely intuitive, which makes long term recovery requirements a bit difficult to nail down and maintain
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are backing up our entire virtual architecture with this software and have found that recoveries and even the backups themselves are easier to maintain and execute.

Integration with VMWare works very well

  • January 04, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I was able to hook it up with VMware and most of all there is a free version that allows you to use cmdlets for automation purposes.
What do you dislike about the product?
Licensing can be expensive but its totally worth it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
using the free version for back up and recovery of my virtual infrastructure.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
start using the free version and if it meets ur needs, proceed with full ver.

Great Backup System

  • December 21, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing of Veeam is that it can manage all Virtual infrastructure specially VMware.
What do you dislike about the product?
Only thing is that it will use more encryption tools to encrypt the data before backing it up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Enterprise backups
