Visualization Monster
What do you like best about the product?
Many software are used for visualization. Tableau Desktop is very handy and illustrates high performance with wide range of properties and tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
Basically, updates come very late. Problems are solved occasionally. Guidelines for new users are poor.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In order to visualize billing-related activities for high manager, I used to benefit from Tableau

If your company budget is high, don't hesitate to purchase it.
Great visualizations, good for storytelling
What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to make dashboards and frequently use the visualization template of the United States map to show users in different regions. The UX is great and makes it easy to train others on my team.
What do you dislike about the product?
There can be too many layers and clicks between steps when building dashboards. Changing the interface and customizing it can be confusing at times - my personalized configurations have not been able to be saved in the past.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm using Tableau to visualize stories for clients and my team. We need to build reports that show a range of KPI's by U.S. region and Tableau makes this possible for my group in an engaging way.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I'd recommend Tableau - it's the best way to get your data stories across visually.

Different visualizations, different connectors, easy to learn and use, extracts, subscriptions,performance for small data, predictive analytics, mobile platform, UI

Needs more work on analytical capabilities, data science, Performance for larger data sets, documentation with more examples needed

Creating dashboards which drive the business for all departments, subscribing and training everyone to utilize data to make decisions

What do you like best about the product?
Being able to condense our large pricing files and prescription claims data files into a centralized space. We can filter out unneeded information as well as filter out reports for our varying departments.
What do you dislike about the product?
The duplication issue, when joining data sources and creating unions between data sources. Sometimes Tableau will duplicate or create multiple lines of data based on the connection because it cannot handle the join.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am able to load text files that I would'nt be able to open in Excel and build reporting and dashboards based on that data. The benefits are being able to bring together large sets of data into a consolidated view.

What do you like best about the product?
Tableau is a great tool for data visualization and automated reports. I really like its features to combine almost all of the other analytics tools. Also, you can export data from excel or google sheets so this is an awesome capability.
What do you dislike about the product?
Actually, there is nothing that I dislike about the Tableau desktop, sometimes it may get slow but this is not a very big problem because it enables us to do lots of things for our daily jobs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are creating automated dashboards for the other departments of the company and with this way then can check their performances regularly without asking any question to other people.

Tableau keeps everything in place with filters, and it's easy to track data.

Sometimes there is a lag in pulling the data, and it shows a blank screen until you reload.

My organization and I are rigorously analyzing the operational and user metrics. Tableau takes the burden off our shoulders to write new queries every time.
Tableau helps to make data-driven decisions quickly & can be used easily by a non-technical person.

Tableau Desktop is helpful in communicating the vast data into easy to understand and interactive visuals. One can access the data and analysis done on it from anywhere & using any device.

Tableau being a visualization tool the data preprocessing is not possible here. So, we need preprocessed (Clean) data to analyze it. Tableau is lacking more sophisticated statistical tools.

Tableau helped to create complex data visualizations to extract meaningful business insights. It also helps us to create interactive dashboards with a sequence of visual graphics called stories.

Sometimes it is very annoying to wait for the updates (delay)

Managing large numbers of data, really detailed
It's an extremely valuable tool overall, but it can be problematic to use at times
What do you like best about the product?
In general, it is excellent software for hosting dashboards and data sources. Setting up users, groups and permissions is painless. The server can support a very large amount of dashboards with many multiple, differing refresh schedules.
What do you dislike about the product?
Firstly, we've had continuous challenges with Tableau Server refreshes. One delayed refresh can cause a lot of problems, especially when there are many dashboards dependent on it. Secondly, it can take a little bit of time to understand the scope of permissions as they can be applied on a view level, workbook level or project level. Thirdly, there can be some login and authentication issues via SAML. Sometimes you need to clear your cache for things to fix themselves.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It provides a centralized place in the business for people to access, view and interact with dashboards. Stakeholders can also download extracts of the data directly from the dashboards on Tableau Server which saves a lot of time.
Tableau gets you the information you need in sales!
What do you like best about the product?
Tableau makes it easily viewable so you can see how you are performing with your sales goals. It does a great job of showing you how you are projecting to meet your goal or not. The daily emails are great as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes there are overnight failures with the product where you can not access data the next morning. This makes it hard to figure out each day if it's accurate or not, but does usually get fixed quickly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This solves many reporting issues for internal stakeholders. We are able to share data between teams and see how close we are to making goals. There are many reports you can view through this tool as well.
