A powerfull and complex tool
What do you like best about the product?
The visuals are excellent. Very crisp, clean, and modern. Once the report is built, I like that it can be imbedded to your website.
What do you dislike about the product?
Building the report is often very time consuming and frustrating. When connecting to a data warehouse the dates can't be edited using a filter like when connecting to other data sources. Also, there are ways of creating custom color templates, but this requires some HTML coding. Instead of just saving a color palette.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating reports that are scalable for many different users that come from many different technical backgrounds. We have been able to create custom reports that have modern visuals that are user friendly and easy to perceive action along with creating reports that the objects adjust easily.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make it easier for first time users to connect to data and build their 1st report. It is far above other software out there, but for the price I think the learning curve may scare a lot of people. It would be nice to have a quick report feature that allows you to build common reports similar to those in excel without having to know in-depth know of Tableau. I believe that is what gets people hooked and wanting to know more. Also, the performance on rather large data sets can often take a while to load hindering people from using it the way it is intended.

I love how easy it is to link data sources. So helpful!
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not immediately user friendly but given how complex everything is, that's completely understandable. Just takes some time!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's been difficult as I work for a small company and they chose to first apply it to a small client so there was very little to be done initially. I anticipate I'll be able to much more easily visualize our client's utilization in the near future.

Try out the trial thoroughly! It's great fun!

What do you like best about the product?
Easy access to all live accounts, in order to quickly assess their performance.
What do you dislike about the product?
Almost always inaccurate, when it comes to better understanding compensation data each quarter.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Trying to give sales reps easy access to data - their event organizer's data (how many tickets have sold?) and their compensation data (how much GTF per month?)

Consider the effect that VPN access requirements have on remote employees

What do you like best about the product?
Quick and efficient deployment. We were/are able to quickly deploy analytics to our mobile users and have actionable intelligence.
What do you dislike about the product?
Extra processes/add-ons to explore JSON code and modify data sets. A bit detailed/technical to modify JSON and/or update data sets once created.

Tableau I s an excellent BI tool that has varying levels of complexity, cost, and capability. It is very flexible for any company's needs.

When using the public version (free) there is not dat privacy

Great Accessf for Nonprofits
What do you like best about the product?
Tech Soup offered Tableau for a VERY reasonable price thus making it accessible to a nonprofit with a low budget. Very excited to "show" our work in different ways.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be overwhelming with where to start, it is similar to an Adobe program, if you dream it, you can do it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We can better show our impact as a small United Way, it is easy to convert from Excel into Tableau.

It is an easy place to store data between multiple team. Allows me to have easy access to sheets that someone else has put together

A little difficult to navigate at times. But simple enough after using it over time.

We provide data to our members through Tableau and the platform is much more dynamic than what we used to offer our members.
