Efficient if you have good background coding team

  • May 04, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
All information at fingertips. Merging of files and effortless navigation for the most part.
What do you dislike about the product?
Could take a while to get exactly what you're looking for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Problems, certain "Tabs" are down, benefits are simultaneous reports run at the same time I'd then have to find on various platforms at work.

Lots of upside and ability to do complex analysis but hard to get used to

  • May 03, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that there are lots of options and I feel like I can do complex analyses using the software. The ability to extract or have a live feed of data is also a big plus for me.
What do you dislike about the product?
Since the software is expensive and not so easy to use I can't create cards or dashboards for execs in the company that they can then take and modify. For that reason, and because I'm not able to share with other people so easily I prefer Domo.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use tableau to make many graphs quickly. When I'm looking at many segments, it's easy to switch between different views and filters.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Lots of people look to hire people with Tableau so from that perspective it's worth learning, otherwise I would say there are other products that are better.

Great flexibility

  • May 02, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of putting together a dashboard. Flexibility to do things quickly
What do you dislike about the product?
Schedule fails, performance . Need to tune SQL. Also blending slows things down so we don't really use it. More training videos on hidden knowledge on initial sql and banding
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Almost live monitoring of fraud. Skipped a lot of manual steps in between
Recommendations to others considering the product:
SQL tuning is important along with tableau

The standard for business intelligence

  • April 29, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tableau allows for anyone to quickly connect to and explore all types of data. The interface is smooth with drag and drop features which are smooth and intuitive. Tableau has layers too. You can use it on a basic level, but dig deep and you'll quickly find advanced tools that will take your data to the next level.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tableau is reliant on outside tools for certain predictive analytics and statistical methods.
Not able to trigger e-mailing of reports by metric thresholds.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sharing data, analysis, and reporting across an organization.
Deploying dashboards for visual management which update automatically as new data is added to the supporting databases.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're interested, just ask for a trial to see how it works for you.

Haven't learned enough to use the data for averages
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monitoring trends

Very user friendly views of performance

Helpful Software for Creating and Publishing Dashboards

  • April 27, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really like the ease of combining multiple excel files and linking them to be able to create data visualization for my work. Once you use Tableau for awhile, creating certain charts and data points becomes easier and easier. Although I still consider myself a novice, using Tableau has been really helpful in my work. In addition, the Tableau community has been fantastic! Anytime you need help, you can easily go to the community boards and search for how others have solved their Tableau hiccups.
What do you dislike about the product?
For a novice like myself, it took me awhile to get used to using the software. If I know exactly what I want to do and am not sure how to do it, I can usually find the answers on the Tableau Community. However, sometimes it feels as though you cannot force Tableau to do what you want it to do, but rather you need to adapt to how Tableau works and be okay with "losing control" over how you want a chart to specifically look like. Once I've done that, I've noticed a lot of my frustrations I can feel at times go away.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our organization has needed to create a dashboard in which we can publish online in which other departments can look through their specific utilization date (i.e. how many students have used their services/characteristics of their student populations in the aggregate). This has been very helpful and are looking forward to publishing our dashboards on the server, soon.

Out of the box visualization platform

  • April 27, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The software is easy to use and and has robust data import features. In 2015 I used together with R and Python to build visualization for The Human Development Index, Trends & Components of UNDP and get to the global final of the dataviz competition. http://lukianets.com/projects/undp-2015/
What do you dislike about the product?
The data has to be UTF-8 default encoded
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Building complex data visualizations

A great dynamic data platform with ease of use

  • April 26, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that the data is dynamic and that it is easy to use
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the separation of server, desktop, and reader
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
EDLP, supplier scorecards, assortment planning
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Any consumer market based company could benefit from the integration, dynamic reporting, and great visual design that Tableau provides

Incredible data visualization tool that makes a big impact

  • April 26, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I thoroughly appreciate the output of the results. Once you get all of the spreadsheets and aggregators set up, it's really nice to be able to pick and select data from a myriad of sources to create your dashboard. Additionally, the Tableau community makes it easy to get inspired to new dashboard ideas.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's certainly time consuming to learn the tool and to get up to speed on how to maximize the tool. However, once you're trained, it becomes smooth after that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We wanted one place that housed all of the data that impacted the entire organization. From sales to marketing, it helped everyone read off the same page.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
When learning the tool, take advantage of all of the available resources and classes that Tableau offers us on their website. It really helps to make the learning process easier.
