Best in Class Data Analysis Tool
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to get started quickly - intuitive and straight forward data analysis out of the box. Able to scale easily into more complex analysis.
What do you dislike about the product?
Wish there was more control of formatting and ability to align/move items on the dashboard easily.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Tableau instead of Excelfor sales reporting and forecasting. Able to pull data from our many different systems and integrate into one view of the data.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The online training and forum are invaluable in learning the product.
Tableau - the best platform for dynamic dashboards and extensive reporting
What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Tableau is its amazing visuals and how flexible it is for reporting. It is user friendly and someone can easily slice and dice data.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tableau might not be very straightforward when it comes to data blending. It is slightly challenging and queries often need to be fine tuned for performance of reports to be good.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tableau is a good solution to a company facing problems with integrated and dynamic reporting. The dashboards built are flexible and a user can do ad-hoc analysis. Some planning tools do not produce good visual outputs and tableau is the go to tool for that reason.

What do you like best about the product?
coming from the old school of Microsoft SSRS, Crystal Reports, Business Objects, tableau is so easy to use. You can design a sharp dashboard quickly.
Features are great, once you understand the console and green and blue pills
The community is the best. Each time i run into a roadblock, google leads me to community and users who have taken the time to share their solutions. Tableau users are so enthusiastic to share their visualizations, solutions, and workarounds.
The company also responds well to user requests. They did so by launching new features in 10.5 (read my blog to learn my favorite enhancements in Tableau 10.5! https://www.captechconsulting.com/blogs/my-five-favorite-enhancements-in-tableau)

Some functionality seems like it should be out of the box. In my experience being good at tableau entails being creative at workarounds. I love and get frustrated by this.
clear all filters, navigation buttons (aside from story points), reference line tooltip customization are a few. i'm not saying these are simple to code for.

Data driven insights. various operational reporting. on the fly data analysis
Best data pivoting and visualization solution on the market (IMHO)
What do you like best about the product?
Super simple to connect to existing data sets or SQL queries to build them. You can then build custom groupings, sets, and derived metrics in the platform (taking the weight off your shoulders of conducting in-query arithmetic). Build tables, maps, charts, histograms, etc. Easily share images, csvs, or complete workbooks with colleagues.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish it was more stable with certain monitor types. It zooms in like crazy on my secondary monitor, and there are no options for correcting it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A way to build stories, and images seamlessly. Makes it easy to create workbooks for those who aren't data savvy on your team as well.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just do it. It's powerful. It can be complex if you need it to be, and it can be simple if you need it to be.
Server is slow

You can build basic and helpful reports that helps you get metrics that you need

I'm not sure if its my company or the program, but whenever I use it, it is so slow.

Merchandising - seeing customer's shopping funnel metric from start to finish

Tableau desktop is great but uses your local desktop resources

Easy to use features, Great map options.
What do you dislike about the product?
tableau desktop uses desktop resources, if the desktop is short of resources then it will be slow. So having online version for development which uses the server resource would be great.

Potential for powerful insight into your data
What do you like best about the product?
Our data lives in multiple places, so Tableau helps us to combine that data in one place to gain better insight through all kinds of charts and views.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tableau is a powerful tool, but can be confusing for beginners because, although there are so many features that can be leveraged, they can't all be learned until spending a lot of time within the product becoming a power user or reading through Tableau support resources.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tableau helps us to compile multiple data sources and use them to see a more holistic view of our data.
