Love it
What do you like best about the product?
I really like its seamless integration with modeling, database, and statistical application. Visualizations can be stunning.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's not much I don't dislike about Tableau.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Use heat maps to identify high concentration of substance abuse activity. Visualize revenue and bookings outcomes and comparisons.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Most computations and transformations should be completed in another application and linked to Tableau.
Dashboards tend to be slow due to server being slow

Ease of getting set up. Easy to manage - easy to share dashboards with others in the organization
What do you dislike about the product?
Slow performance - even light weight dashboards where there is no live data query, it takes too long to refresh charts
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sharing insights in a compelling way with great visuals. Using visual to find new insights

Ease to get set up and running. Easy to visualize your data quickly
Sophisticated business intelligence tool that is fast developing into the go-to standard
What do you like best about the product?
Excellent import flexibility and fairly sophisticated field mapping compatibility.
What do you dislike about the product?
Publishing to workbooks could be easier, and exported files can quickly get pretty bloated. External support for libraries of visualizations would be very helpful to the community, so we don't need to reinvent the wheel. Mobile support would be useful, especially for use on tablets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Building custom dashboards is a lot easier now and I am now shaving a couple hours per week vs. our internal solution.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Friendlier alternative to SpotFire. Server platform is more flexible than Tibco's model.

Displaying charts showing marketing trends in dashboards for wider company use and to share with clients. Relatively simple and functional upload of data feeds on csv. from data vendors.

the complexity of Tableau requires training and frequent use
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy access to visualisations of data trends which provided an alternative to the Hitwise platform for clients like ANZ Bank and iSelect who didn't like / have time for the Hitwise platform
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If importing 3rd party data it is important to have APIs and dashboards set up by an IT professional - do not attempt this as an intermediate user

I like the fact that Tableau provides the visuals of KPIs and they are easy for anyone to understand

Sometimes it can be a little tough juggling all of the Excel files that are needed in the first step

Providing great visuals of key metrics and they look great

Many different types of data displays and visualizations. Easy to use design once dashboard are developed. Fast processing engine when running input data and easy to connect to SAS for data upload. Easy to share with users.

Hard to learn for a beginner. For a nontechnical analyst this will require training to create dashboard. .

Display trends, heat map to identify sales trend for our products and drivers of changes.

Easy to get started quickly - intuitive and straight forward data analysis out of the box. Able to scale easily into more complex analysis.
What do you dislike about the product?
Wish there was more control of formatting and ability to align/move items on the dashboard easily.

We are using Tableau instead of Excelfor sales reporting and forecasting. Able to pull data from our many different systems and integrate into one view of the data.

The online training and forum are invaluable in learning the product.
Tableau - the best platform for dynamic dashboards and extensive reporting
What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Tableau is its amazing visuals and how flexible it is for reporting. It is user friendly and someone can easily slice and dice data.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tableau might not be very straightforward when it comes to data blending. It is slightly challenging and queries often need to be fine tuned for performance of reports to be good.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tableau is a good solution to a company facing problems with integrated and dynamic reporting. The dashboards built are flexible and a user can do ad-hoc analysis. Some planning tools do not produce good visual outputs and tableau is the go to tool for that reason.

coming from the old school of Microsoft SSRS, Crystal Reports, Business Objects, tableau is so easy to use. You can design a sharp dashboard quickly.

The community is the best. Each time i run into a roadblock, google leads me to community and users who have taken the time to share their solutions. Tableau users are so enthusiastic to share their visualizations, solutions, and workarounds.

Some functionality seems like it should be out of the box. In my experience being good at tableau entails being creative at workarounds. I love and get frustrated by this.
