What do you like best about the product?
Multiple tabs for simultaneous analyses.

Color scheme options are limited to boring schemes.

Watch the given tutorial video(s) although they are lengthy. There is a lot you can do with tableau.
Self Service tool...when done correctly
What do you like best about the product?
Beautiful visuals, once you get the hang of it the tool is easy to use, great for scaling reporting and dashboards in an enterprise org

Not a smooth knowledge transition from Excel (where most customers come from) to Tableau, pretty expensive
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helping the business get ahold of data which them help them make informed business decisions
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Learn a little bit of SQL and your life will be easier. Calculations in tableau are like a combination of excel formulas and SQL.
Great Data Vizualization Tool
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use of the product and how it can do so much with a small set of data. It allows you to make custom visualizations and really tell a story with your data and there are a lot of online tools for help if needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think there is too much clicking needed to change aspects of the dashboards you’re building and it would be great if there were more help options for creating calculated fields.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Building custom dashboards for KPIs, mapping and automated reporting for different business areas.
Great if you keep in mind limitations
What do you like best about the product?
Intuitive to use. Nice looking charts. Everything is super clean.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tableau is intuitive to use, but my main problem with tableau is that it doesn’t handle joins nearly as well as qlikview and the lack of customization is disappointing. We basically had to rethink our entire database structure to conform to these giant denormalized tables to get live connections with our own row level security to work. (While tableau has built in security functions, they aren’t robust enough to fit our needs). also you can’t customize exporting data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use this to enable it sales teams. They like the interface, but we’re still testing out the feasibility of it as a general solution.

Really evaluate your usecases. If you need to showcase very granular data this isn’t for you.
Great way to visualize data

The user interface is amazing and the way we visualize data there is very convenient and easy.

Very limited amount of statistical features provided

I like the extensive range of reports that can be built within Tableau

I don't like that I don't always feel I can trust the data that is being reported in Tableau, because it doesn't always align with the data source
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Tableau to report and measure on sales and marketing activity. It has provided more extensive data insights than we are able to get through Salesforce alone
Robust system with a minimalistic interface
What do you like best about the product?
It allows us to access our data using a variety of parameters to get at the specific data points that we need. It is the most robust system that we use. Plus, the "Dictionary" function is particularly helpful when looking for an obscure report or onboarding new team members.
What do you dislike about the product?
The quick time-out on the product (both from within each report - as the report will default back to original settings - and from an account automatic log-out) is counter-productive when trying to multi-task. The interface isn't particularly attractive, and it can sometimes be confusing to navigate. A less Tableau-responsible issue is that our data isn't updated in real time (there is a +1 day delay on all of our data between our internal database and Tableau).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Internal reporting, this is how we access our internal order data from our subscription service.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a good system if your business fits within one industry category (example, ecommerce only). If you have multiple sectors of your business, then you might need this in addition to another reporting feature depending on how you can tie your order system into Tableau.
Intuitive and easy to learn.

Easy to learn and would update easily when you opened up the program.

Cost - charge per person, couldn't afford a multi-license..

Analytics, developing reports that can update quickly. Ability to link to main database.

Go through the training - I didn't do this but others at work did and benefitted from it.

tableau made us realize we need software to help organize data.

It works well if you need a basic data collection software program.
Easy Platform for Sharing Tableau Dashboards
What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to publish dashboards from Tableau desktop to Tableau Server in order to share them with users throughout my company. Tableau Server allows user access to be customized so people can view exactly what is relevant to them. Users can also download reports and dashboards for offline use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tableau Server can be slow at times depending on the internet connection. It is also somewhat glitchy at times.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tableau Server allows us to share dashboards and reports to users throughout the organization. It is easy to access via an internet connection and can be accessed using a computer or mobile device.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you have a lot of people that will be viewing Tableau dashboards this is a cost effective and easy way to do it. It is a much better option than emailing large Tableau files to each user.
