A good software for integrating data and visualizing it yet not very intuitive to use
What do you like best about the product?
Variety of visualizations. You can get creative .
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not very intuitive. You can't think like you're charting in excel. The new perspective takes time to get used to.

What do you like best about the product?
Tableau is extraordinarily flexible. You can import data from virtually any source and integrate it with data from virtually any OTHER source and manipulate it into maps, charts, graphs, bubbles, lines, etc...whatever type of tool that makes trends and outliers pop out of the crowd.
What do you dislike about the product?
Like most complex software packages, Tableau isn't very intuitive. But, if you are familiar with Excel Pivot charts, you can kludge your way through. Tableau is expensive! And if you want to share your workbook, you either have to have a Tableau Server ($$$) put it on the public tableau cloud server (privacy concerns) or the person you are sharing with has to have Tableau or a free Tableau reader app. Not a deal breaker, by any means, but not ideal.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tableau is allowing us to move off of obsolete analytics packages and (hopefully) will open up new ways to look at our data. We're able to do all of our analysis via Tableau vs. having to piece things together separately from a few different software packages (e.g. Datamart/Hyperion, Excel, DB2.) We can do it all in one place.

I enjoy the multi-functionality that Tableau offers me.

I dislike how challenging it can be to do simple things, this could be fixed with simple upgrades.

I use tableau for data analytics and to work as an extra powerful Excel/
Great idea, slow to action
What do you like best about the product?
I love having access to my entire company's data lake, it supports myself as a sourcing team member to be able to leverage best practices without having to log in and out of multiple entity ERP's, and without having to be signed in via VPN.
What do you dislike about the product?
The datalake does take a long time to refresh, and can very frustratingly time out when you are trying to pull the reports. Overall, it worse the time taken to wait.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to leverage the entire business's spend with specific suppliers, including Parent company details. As a smaller business with low volume and high mix, it is critical to leverage all spend when possible.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you have no other ways to access all data lakes, this is great for dashboards and quick looks at the business's spend. The reports are only as good as the data put in, which can also spit out many false negatives that take a while to be cleansed. It is worth the effort to put good data in.
NIce visualization
What do you like best about the product?
Beautiful graphics, easy to create graphs, able to drag-drop data, there are many type of graphs for you to choose. It is flexible enough to allow you to adjust size of graphs and fonts, change the colors.
What do you dislike about the product?
Need to clean data before use to create graphs. Can need some learning curves if you are a new user, especially, the user needs to know what type of chart they want to display the data because some graphs are not suitable for the dataset that they have.

Tableau has clean formats, is easy to use, and the possibilities are endless.

Lots of workarounds are required to produce more advanced charts.

I use Tableau to track my company's Google Analytics. It's quick and easy to track over time!

What do you like best about the product?
The tableau server is a great way to share insight across the company and gain a view of how employees are interacting with the data. The service has extremely customizable user controls to manage who can see and edit what data and reports, making it an effective tool to use across the company.
What do you dislike about the product?
We've had issues multiple times with server release bugs bringing down key functions for the day when they are released. As a core technology for our business, stable releases are key to successful use of the product, which everyone from execs to interns use to track daily metrics and do their day to day jobs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to extract datasets directly to the server allows back end data management and updates during the workday without halting any day-to-day functions for our users. Also, as the data hub for the business, we use the administrators data access to analyze how our business users are digesting data, to better create tools for them to do their jobs. The server also allows us to schedule periodic emails to any of our business users more attached to email, and integrate the tableau app for other users who want to track real time data on mobile.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you do not foresee a need for some of the admin control and user data analysis, considering using Tableau Online for an off site, cloud based solution. The transition from Tableau Server to Tableau Online is a huge manual process if you have a decently sized environment, so make this call before setting up the environment on an on prem server.

What do you like best about the product?
The simplicity of the functions, really straight forward, easy to use to create diagrams for presentations etc.

Can't think of anything I dislike about it

I use it for creating charts, diagrams, for visualization on the results of my analyzes.
Best tool on the market!
What do you like best about the product?
I started using tableau as an intern at work and picked it up very quickly. It's extremely user friendly and has features for practically everything you can imagine
What do you dislike about the product?
Can be buggy at times but nothing that can't be quickly solved. Some of the bugs include the software freezing and crashing
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's a very intuitive tool and I mainly use it for data analysis. It can connect to multiple data sources, which is one of the best parts. You are able to work with live data.

It allows me to constantly monitor the performance of any customer-facing tests I have going which empowers me to make decisions much more quickly
What do you dislike about the product?
particularly in the afternoon (GMT) it can be quite slow to render a dashboard, this can make things feel sluggish and can be quite frustrating

I oversee dozens of customer facing tests at a time, Tableau allows me to monitor those daily and determine which ones are helping or harming our customers.
