Great for analysis
What do you like best about the product?
I love how user friendly it is and how there are multiple ways to complete one task

There is so many capabilities it occasionally feels overwhelming

Tabelau is incredibly easy to use, for all skill levels. It’s a very productive tool and hosts many functions for all needs

Nothing in particular stands out. More use with the software may provide some insight on this though

Tableau is incredibly efficient for modeling data and picking up trends

I appreciate the ability to use data to tell the story - Tableau makes this easy and fun.

Making lines dotted, editing labels and other visual aspects can be frustratingly hard at times.

Tableau is helping us to aggregate data in a way that is helpful for all employees that have access to it.

Watch plenty of tableau's videos from previous conferences.
Great high powered Data Viz system
What do you like best about the product?
Tableau is an industry leading software package, and for multi-user use, the Tableau Server is the backbone that makes it all work. On a daily basis I login to our Tableau Server and use reports we have built to show our base line metrics. Being able to have automatically refreshed data at my finger tips is a real blessing compared to the old OLAP pivot table days.
What do you dislike about the product?
As a non-profit the Licensing fee for the Tableau server can price out some of the most helpful uses. We have had multiple occasions where we have been unable to justify the cost for a server license for someone, which is never what users want to hear.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sharing reporting and Data via the Tableau server has cut out time that was previously wasted to create and then maintain reporting that was not always visually consistent. It gives everyone the exact same data to look at, instead of people using other tools to pull the data separately, which is and always will be a huge issue.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Connect with the Tableau beta testing process, that way you can see what is on the horizon. Then you can plan ahead and upgrade your Tableau Server as needed when the updates become available.
It's the best in class data visualizer, but has a big learning curve
What do you like best about the product?
Tableau is really great at handling large data sets. I've dropped in files that have tens of millions of rows of data, in addition to multiple connections and data attributes, and as long as I extract a .twb file local version on my computer it's very quick.
The other thing I like is the customizable data after you've imported. For example - if I had a data property that wasn't being calculated correctly, I can convert data, write custom formulas to better analyze and more. Their visualization tool is also the best I've used.

What do you dislike about the product?
It has a BIG learning curve, and it sometimes not user-friendly. I understand that it's a complex product, but it's the same amount of effort as learning excel as a true beginner IMO. I spent enough time messing things up in Tableau that I *eventually* learned it, but it took me a while. It can also be slow to load large data sets initially.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Tableau to visualize all of our data and make it digestible to understand trends/areas of improvement. One of the things we love to do is see trends that may not be noticeable from just looking at the raw data.

Make sure to find online resources.

I like that I can change the way that people think about data by showing them instead of telling them.

There is a small learning curve, but it is well worth it.

I can now run reports and see realtime what is happening to my business.

I would do a free trial and just learn from it.

What do you like best about the product?
It makes life so easy for end users without much of Technical knowledge

Cannot do data preparation and the back-end work, need to rely on technical team or other data prepping tools like alteryx

Preparation of storyboards and dashboards for sales and marketing data to analyze the revenue yearly, monthly and quarterly along with the sales and revenue in particular regions and sectors

Tableau is gearing up with hyper and Maestro so hang on to Tableau . It will get better soon

What do you like best about the product?
I loved having all of my reporting in one portal. In the past we had to go to numerous different sites to pull together the data we needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
The main thing I disliked was the exporting capabilities. It confused a lot of my reps on how to initially export into excel etc, there is a learning curve here. We also ran into challenges that I wouldnt be able to access reports that it should I had access to- it only worked when someone emailed me the link- technical issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Business Problems- Clarity into the business internally and for client reporting. Benefits that I have realized- Saves a lot of time pulling all of your reports from one platform.

Ability to easily connect to data, great dashboard options.

Wish there was better zipcode geocoding available and more data integrations.

Demographic insight, market research. BI trends.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you know what feature sets you want to use before jumping in, I recommend trying the public, free version first.
Great Tool for Beginner to Advanced Data Analytics & Visualization
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use of this tool, built in GUI and the tutorials and community offered online.
What do you dislike about the product?
How uniform the data has to sometimes be for it to analyze correctly. Also built-in zip code geocoding would be nice.

Data analysis and visualization.

The leader in data analysis. I highly recommend trying the public version before paying.
