Data visualization made easy
What do you like best about the product?
Tableau Desktop is great because of the many connection possibilities and how easy and intuitive it is to visualize data. Furthermore it provides a great way to apply functions on data.
What do you dislike about the product?
When you never used BI Tools like Tableau, you have at first some difficulties to get started. But after some time it gets really easy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Analysis of Sales and Marketing. Tableau shows it full strength when the data flows in the background are completely automated.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take care of your data. When the quality and automation in your data flows is bad, Tableau is not going to be that much of help. Tableau is also not an ETL tool, keep that in mind.
Its the best software to build beautiful and meaningful visualizations quickly.
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use, drag and drop. Inbuilt data segregation into dimension and measure. Connections to multiple sources. Follows the rules of data visualization most appropriately. Easy distribution and appealing dashboards.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cannot handle live data connection with big tables, becomes slow while calculations. No ETL capabilities as of now. Too costly for any company to use as compared to other open source tools or less costly tools like power BI.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Business problems related to marketing, growth, sales and inventory. Its beneficial to show lots of data on a single dashboard with interconnected filters. Helps even a non technical person to use/understand the visualization.
Just an Awesome tool for data visualization !
What do you like best about the product?
The best part about tableau is its Accessibility to data sets directly which makes it super user friendly for the people who are new to the world of data analytics. Another thing which is really cool is its Heat mapping chart type which is one of the best visualization factor for sensing the data.
What do you dislike about the product?
Only one thing which i could think of as a con is that Tableau doesn't offer functionality to do traditional production type reporting. You can’t create static layouts or data tables and it doesn’t offer features related to distribution, or scheduling and notification of reports.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tableau has given our business users the ability to perform fairly complex data visualization in a very intuitive, drag and drop manner. Its data visualization is also impressively interactive. The user can highlight sections and drill-down into charts without extensive skills or assistance from IT.
The Best BI Tool
What do you like best about the product?
The amount of different Viz's you can make. There is a ton of customization, not only in aesthetics, but also in transforming the data. Things like changing how dates are evaluated/represented, to the insane amount of colors. Also it can connect to a TON of data sources, with a lot of customization into the data you're pulling from the data sources. I've found other products pull the data without showing you how, so when things go wrong, its hard figuring out why. Also there is a ton of online blogs/tutorials on Tableau. It has a huge user base, so that helps a ton when trying to figure out problems.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve is steep. It took me a good 8 months to really feel confident in it. You can watch all the videos you want, but the only way to learn is to dive in (like most things). Also data prep is a huge undertaking. I work with less than perfect data, so I have to do alot of cleaning up. However they did just add a new product (Tableau Prep) to help solve this problem. However, its an additional cost.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Presenting data to upper management in an easy and quick way. They are way more likely to be interested in data if it is easy to understand, and Tableau allows us to do this.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get this product- its price is very reasonable, the power of it is amazing, and the user base is large.
Amazing software
What do you like best about the product?
It allows data to be sorted and displayed in a very minimalistic way. Super easy to look at.
What do you dislike about the product?
This software can be complex to learn at first.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Show data appropriately. It allows others to play and see what data affects other data.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Find training time!
Tableau
What do you like best about the product?
It's probably the industry standard in terms of visualizing BI insights with great features to make said visualizations dynamic and interesting. Easy to learn too
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that the Tableau Public version only allows you to save to the public server.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Visualizing information in a way that can be toggled to show variability.
Tableau is ok for visualization but seems ripe for disruption for analysis and visualization.
What do you like best about the product?
Ability to analyze data and the various options for visualizations. Once a report builder learns how to use the software it's somewhat intuitive. It's very intuitive to end users with a properly built dashboard.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cost and how it's kind of clunky with various data types. Same for CTEs (common table expressions) that it doesn't do well with. When I post questions or service tickets they aren't particularly customer focused. Sadly their typical response is that whatever is requested is not an option with this version, but we'll consider for future versions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Analysis. Realized high-performing and low-performing physicians/providers and offices for our initiative.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Tableau seems ripe for disruption given their price and limited flexibility, both as a product and as a customer experience company. Tableau should look out for Alteryx. As a Sr. Data Analyst in healthcare and my limited but pleasurable experience with Alteryx, they may have Tableau's number. Tableau seems to be getting better in the sense that they may be rolling out a "data cleansing" functionality, but how good that really is remains to be seen at my company.
Great data visualization tool
What do you like best about the product?
The business insights a user can obtain from the variety of cuts tableau can do is incredible.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some features that aren't as flexible as they could be i.e. free form text
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data visualization and the ability to drill down to the root of a problem
Data Visualization
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to visualize data, periodic updated with new versions
What do you dislike about the product?
lack of data prep and data staging. lack of ability to write complex SQL
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
finding actionable insights from large data sets
Tableau Server is easy to use and reliable
What do you like best about the product?
Tableau server plays a big role in our org. It’s reliability and stability are the biggest pros I like. The online edit features to workbooks and the revision history tracking are subtle but very important features that I love.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far the only dislike for me is the number of outages our team does for maintanence. Wish the product required less regular maintanence.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is allowing our organization to use data visualization more in our reporting and integrate into our custom built company sites for all to access the reports.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely worth the investment.
