Tableau is the greatest in data visualization.

  • January 23, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tableau has great diversity in how we are able to represent some of our most complex data quandaries.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish tableau had more stat-savvy things. If we could marry the analysis of SPSS with the visualization options of Tableau I would be a happy data nerd.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need ways to take all of the data we have lingering and represent for management. We also need it to be dynamic. Nobody likes running reports (or hiring people to do it!), so the dashboard concept is invaluable.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's very user friendly, but remember that it's not a stats software. It will not run regressions or give you meaning; it will only help you see patterns in the data. Think of it as a savvy excel.

Good Technology, Not Very Adaptable

  • January 23, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Overall appearance and organization of data is well done, and easy to change parameters for what you want to see or analyze.
What do you dislike about the product?
The biggest downside is the need to download a new program, and ensure you open the documents in that program. While it appears that the reports are viewable in Adobe, that is not the case.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use the technology for satisfaction surveys, and it had been helpful comparing different locations and benchmarks.

Great Product

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
How easy it is to get started. The ability to drill down on components.
What do you dislike about the product?
Limitations on table formats, like having dynamic column names. Some things are more complicated than they should be.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automating reports. It saves a lot of time versus having to create excel reports.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It gets complicated when you have to use a lot of excel-like tables, It is fantastic with graphics like bar/line charts.

Better with every update

What do you like best about the product?
I love that Tableau can integrate with so many different platforms/APIs.
What do you dislike about the product?
The ability to white label Tableau is a bit difficult and sometimes looks sloppy. I wish there was a template of sorts to customize the worksheets instead of just inserting an image and changing the background.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I mainly use tableau for website KPI performance. Anywhere from e-commerce to visits to keyword performance.

Best Software to visualise data for everyone

  • January 20, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's one of the most favorite software of mine when I wanna use data to present to my management.
Easy to use and live update of the data are the two of my favorite features.
It's easy to make all of the stakeholder understand the progress of the organization as well as growth measurement of the sales and support.
What do you dislike about the product?
Price is the only Thing I don't like.
It's expensive for startup and SMEs or at least Nordic prices are high.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it to visual our sales data.
Sales targets of individuals as well as based on market regions as well as we use it for billing targets.
For Support section, we use it to watch our effectiveness on solving the issue of our customers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend that this is the best software if you can spare some money for it. You shouldn't think twice. It's not only all the feature but always keep impressing and improving.

What do you like best about the product?
Love the ability to easily join data sources and blend - we are big SFDC users, but like most companies, we have important data like sales quota ramps, start/promotion dates, product usage data etc. that lives outside of SFDC. You don't need to know how to data-warehouse, and can use Tableau to create custom data sources with scheduled refreshes. I also love how easy it is to build some complex calculations that just aren't feasible in other solutions. Lastly, the best thing about Tableau is the community - some of the brightest people in the business collaborating to find great solutions to tough problems that sometimes aren't solved by the product as-is.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be tough to pinpoint what is causing certain reports or visualizations to run slower than others. Most of the times it's the size of the underlying data source, but in addition the number of queries and tables/charts you are building into a visualization adds to that lag time. I'd also like a better way to drill down on certain charts or tables - currently I use workarounds with hidden tables which populate if a certain part of a chart is selected for example. The reason for doing this is because some of our SFDC tables have hundreds of columns and clicking to see the underlying data takes forever. I'd like a better way to select the specific columns I want to serve up in a drill-down window and have that functionality built into a visualization. Lastly, working with dates in Tableau can be a bit tricky, especially when you want to do any sort of trended weekly analysis over multiple years. There are workarounds for this, but definitely would like to see some improvement in the product in this area in general.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Initially, mostly sales and marketing intelligence, but that has evolved into a full 360 degree view of our business which includes things like product usage and customer firmographic data. What products do we sell well now? Who should our ideal customer profile be? What are signs of a customer who is at risk to churn?

Using Tableau we have been able to combine our SFDC Opportunity and Account data with our back-end customer usage data. We've also been able to use cohort analyses to figure out what our average ramp time is for a new sales rep.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you have clearly defined who needs licenses and who does not. Tableau Server works best when you can share content with people in their web application. Also, Tableau uses an in-memory database to get good performance, and needs more CPUs to service multiple concurrent users, so if you are skimping on memory vs. their recommended specs you are not going to have a good experience. Carefully read their tech specs for production vs. prototyping/trialing:

What do you like best about the product?
I really like that tableau is able to connect to many different platforms. it helps that some of my data is in excel in sql
What do you dislike about the product?
I hate that it does not have auto-saving features. I lose data all the time because my computer or tableau crashes and there is no way to restore any of it
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am solving for HR BPs at my company by pulling together data
