Awesome tool to simply pull metrics

  • September 05, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I used Tableau software to pull metrics of teams all across the organization. It was already built for us to simply put in what we wanted to see and pick how we wanted to see it. It was simple, easy to use, and effective. It does take time to get used to it, but after that, it was no issue.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not a lot of complaints, but there are just tons and tons of features that you can use which can be confusing when initially learning to use the product. It is also up to your engineers or analysts building the tool for your company, whether or not it will be easy to use... But in the end, all the additional tools were super helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We pulled our metrics from SalesForce to see how much work was being done by each employee and over all as a team, as well as the division. It helps us visually see a trend yoy and month over month to see which seasons or months are tougher or better. It also helps individual employees be able to keep a track of their KPI and metrics.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a very useful tool to pull data. I've seen PowerBI and Tableau, they're very similar to an outside (non-tech) person like me, but Tableau was fairly easy to see from the start as opposed to PowerBI, hard to figure out what is what.

Tableau Server

  • September 05, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The Tableau server, allows developers to create a versioned repository of their content and automate, schedule data loads as well as receive automated emails of dashboards. In addition, a layer of security sits on top of this to authenticate and authorize users to the published content. The best part is that consumers can view and access with a modern browser or mobile and tablet device.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tableau still has a bit more to go to become fully enterprise-ready. We are a global 70K employee very diverse company and just do not get the depth that we need. But the good news is that most of the missing enterprise functionality is starting to show up with updates. Such as Data governance, folders within folders and multiple identity providers as well as two brand new enhancement tools: Billions of rows super fast data engine and a really cool and easy to use data exploration and prepration tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The business problems are really solved at the Tableau desktop level. Tableau server simply allows a very efficient way of distributing those solutions and insights with the masses. We have been able to become a data-driven organization at the top and are slowly pushing that down to the layers of management using data authorization that is built into the tool.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Tableau desktop is only a small piece of the whole suite of tools and capabilities offered by using Tableau server. If cost is prohibiting you to purchase a full core license of Tableau server, consider Tableau online and the new subscription models that have much lower initial cost commitments.

Tableau was famous in the industry that they do not negotiate and have published prices. Recently, that has not been the case as Tableau is trying to close some larger enterprise deals.

Try to negotiate a better deal as it is a win-win solution for both sides. You will realize a very quick ROI and Tableau will have made a lifelong partner and customer.

Ability to search for reports and create new ones fairly easily, ability to export data easily

Amazing tool for data visualization!!

  • September 01, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tableau can perform very complex data visualization in a very simple, drag and drop manner. It is also very interactive and wide range of charts available. Tableau is also very fluid on a mobile platform. Comparatively low-cost solution.
What do you dislike about the product?
Embedding or sharing charts is still a little difficult and not very user friendly. Also, scheduled reporting is not a feature yet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A lot of statistical data is used to visualize for descriptive stories or preparing predictive reports.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is an amazing product to create great visualizations. Although a little on the expensive end, it is a worth-it tool to invest in!

Great System to Manage Data!

  • August 31, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's a visualization of data, so it is a great place to not only organize it but make it visual. There are so many options to how to pull things and have it appear - I feel like our company is just starting to tap it's true potential!
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes a lot of training and learning for those building it. If you don't have deep resources, I would recommend hiring out major builds.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have essentially transitioned all of our operations' performance monitoring and reporting into Tableau. It's a much quicker, cleaner and efficient way of reading and updating data.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Hire experts and train the right people well. It's hard to make the investment, but you'll be really happy with all of the different things you can do. It's a wonderful tool if you have folks educated enough to really use it.

Great Tool for Business

  • August 30, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love that I can search any of my customers and know exactly what they are buying of the products we represent. I feel as though Tableau does the hard work for me, and it is impossible not to be able to set a high standard with customer relationships on the first meeting when you have so much information about them at your finger tips.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that it takes about 4 months to see an update in a customer's purchase history; I would love if it were only a few weeks from the date of sale, so we as a company can confirm with data that they bought an item as opposed to holding on to their word for it and find out months later they might not have started buying the product just yet/there were issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I go in to accounts fully confident in know who they buy from, what they buy, and how much per quarter so there is no wasting time in presenting items they already use or might not be interested.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It gives you full access to operators in regards to their usage of your products and who they are buying from. It makes selling so simple as you do not have to spend much time doing research with all of the information being in one place -- making it easier to work with accounts that are already loyal users buy other products of yours or notice they might benefit from alternatives products based on how much they are currently using.
