Integrated maps, smart functions, powerful visuals

Steep learning curve, LOD functions, no column auto size

Reporting dashboards are much easier to create and maintain than in Excel, saving time and making my workflow more efficient.

It's time to ditch Excel and start using Tableau,

What do you like best about the product?
Once you get used to it, setting up reports and charts is easy and can look very good.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve takes a little time and being used to Microsoft tools is a disadvatage because this tool works very differently in some aspects.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We track customer metrics and call center contacts through this tool. We identify problem areas and track reductions based on projects implemented over time.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Tableau is a great tool to have in your arsenal. It works well with excel. It can easily be linked and automated with databases such as Teradata.

Getting data into the correct format can be time consuming and complicated

Visual presentations are becoming more dynamic and allows users to see the data in various different ways.

Stop using Excel and Powerpoint to create graphs and bar charts instead use Tableau. the options that Tableau has for visually representing data provides users with options they may have not thought about.

What do you like best about the product?
Tableau allows the members of my team to understand the data that we have without having to be an expert in data science. Tableau's user-friendly interface is perfect for creating visualizations and data presentations.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a definitely a learning curve with Tableau, and the performance at least on a Mac can be spotty at times.

We help companies understand the human behaviors around their big data, allowing for better insight into customers wants and needs. Tableau helps us turn data into easy to understand visualizations for clients.
Best and Easy Dashboard Platform I've Used
What do you like best about the product?
I like how it can easily connect to any type of data source.
What do you dislike about the product?
For now, I dont like the 15-day trial. Would be great if it was a full month worth to actually try out to its full potential.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Since I use it for a service type business, Tableau helps to display what regions of the US we are profitable and not profitable. Gives a great visual to the executives.

I would suggest that others should test Tableau with the trial first to make sure it meets their needs, which I'm sure it will.
Take advantage of the free live sessions that Tableau has available. Great material and presenter is very knowledgeable.

Tableau is super easy to use and has tremendous capability to Visualise the data in multiple ways.

There is an opportunity for adding additional views, like donut charts etc.

Tableau is a very straight forward and easy to use business intelligence and analytics software that helps you to analyze, visualize and understand data.
The user interphase as well as the included tutorials are very helpful and will guide you as you analyze different data bases inside the software.

When using geographical data for analysis, the databases on Tableau are very detailed in the USA, but if you need to analyze data with coordinates of geographic referecese or zip codes outside the USA, it is difficult to do so.
Sometimes the user needs to work extra in detailing the different characteristics of a variable (ex. number, zip code, character/text, etc.)

What do you like best about the product?
It's the most powerful data visualization tool. I like the ability to create calculated fields, parameters and the easy drag and drop features. tableau server can be used to create filters by usernames which is cool if you want to personalize the dashboards by user names. It has endless customization features. It can be connected to almost every data source. Tableau is also constantly adding new data sources. One of the coolest features is DATA BLENDING which we can use to combine data from multiple sources.
What do you dislike about the product?
It does not have direct connection to Dynamics CRM :( - So, I have to connect to a middleware for creating dashboards from Dynamics CRM. Well, it's competitor POWER BI has the ability to use R programming directly for data manipulation. In Tableau, we have to use the STRING FUNCTIONS to use R which is inconvenient.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating scalable dashboards. It's ability to combine data from multiple sources by using data blending helps to get one view of disparate data spread across multiple data sources.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a beautiful tool and constantly evolving. Wait fro the Dynamics CRM Connector to unleash its true power for creating Sales dashboard. It's slightly expensive though.
Tableau is SO SLOW!
What do you like best about the product?
It gives me the data I need in a readable format.
What do you dislike about the product?
Load time is extremely slow! Yes, we have a lot of data being collected but accessing Tableau through my browser is slow and their filtering system just hurts. If I wanted to filter multiple things, I'd have to do it one at a time, wait for the data to load, filter the second thing and wait again. Why can't I just select all the filters and then load data all at once?
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it to check sales performance on a weekly basis. It's great I have all the data gathered into one place. I wish the UI was more intuitive.

Make the interface better! Fix your filtering system and make the web version load faster.
