My favourite BI tool
What do you like best about the product?
I've used a few BI tools, but Tableau is the one I always come back to. I use large data sets where Excel just isn't an option. When it then comes to blending and joining different data sets, it's really intuitive and fast. The online training, help and support sets a high benchmark. I became effective quickly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Although the pricing has changed in the last year to a more affordable model - it still feels prohibitive providing complete access across company wide.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mining Web Analytics data for insights. Main benefit is speed - but also the whole exercise now is more enjoyable and rewarding.

Ability to showcase data in so may formats and upto 24 charts available. Easy to use and share data with customers

Can be a bit complex to integrate files from other applications

Dashboard creations on KPI's and showing performance to the clients and customers

Perfect tool for business analyst, MIS specialist and any small to big size companies who generate or posses enough data

Tableau has become so intuitive tool that it is actually beating its competitors by good margin and its ever changing features keeps us interested as always.

The drill down options line you have in excel. Please work on that.

Sometimes it can be challenging to figure out how to present a small detail. The layout is not intuitive always.

An alternative to excel that gives a fresh spin on graphing and data presentation.

Creating some visuals seem more tedious than they should be, arranging things on a dashboard is incredibly over-complicated process

Once integrated into your database, Tableau is an excellent resource to pull various charts, and specific data points.
What do you dislike about the product?
Learning the integration between database and Tableau has a high learning curve for non-IT persons.

Easily pull data to create charts for meetings, reports, etc.

What I like best is the Tableau interface. It's a very smooth interface which is of utmost importance when you want to work faster. You can connect unlimited number of data connections and that is extremely useful.
One more thing I love about Tableau is the range of self learning tutorials that it provides. The tutorials are easy to follow and the community is really quick in responses.

What do you dislike about the product?
Pulling data from a database is a bit difficult in Tableau but if the user knows some basics of SQL or other query language, then I guess it's fine.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am working as a business analyst. One of the major tasks is to present the end results or numbers in a way that can be understood by people who are not data analyst. Tableau is the solution to that problem. I use to visualise and present dynamic charts and graphs after all the analysis that I do on the data.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Once you have a grip of what Tableau is capable of, it makes data analytics much more interesting and dynamic for you. So do give it a try.

I like tableau mostly because it empowers me to build flexible and complex dashboards with ease, just prep the data and load, tableau does the rest.
What do you dislike about the product?
The lack of some more complex capabilities for drilling down or link to “sister” dashboards/datasets.

The need for simple yet flexible (self serving) business health dashboards for upper management.

The best part about tableau is that it is very easy to learn. It dosent take a lot of time to get hands on and start working

I have been able to solve queries on big data sets without using any code.
