What do you like best about the product?
Tableau gives you a lot of flexibility to create graphs and dashboards to visualize your data
What do you dislike about the product?
Parsing your data to get exactly what you would like to graph/visualize is not as easy as other tools such as Microsoft Power BI
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Analyzing data, creating graphs, creating reports
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Also check out Microsoft Power BI to compare features and pricing

Great BI tool for the novice data scientist, but lacks functionality for advanced users

  • September 26, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
For those coming from Excel spreadsheets and workbooks, this is a great tool that's very friendly and easy to use. You are easily able to connect to data from many sources and easily visualize and aggregate information.

The server works very well with Desktop and with features like alerts, email subscriptions, and auto refreshes, this is far superior to the industry gold standard Crystal Reports.
What do you dislike about the product?
For advanced users Tableau is very limited. It is very limited on count distinct and usually requires a "hack" to get most things working. As an example, combining sums and count distinct in a single sheet is not easy, especially when dealing with calculated grand totals.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Key reporting on financial and operational data to solve day to day problems.

Powerful and easy to use

What do you like best about the product?
Drag and drop report build; custom calculations
What do you dislike about the product?
There's a bit of a learning curve for formatting. I'm not sure if this is truly a dislike on the product or a matter of manipulating my fields to show value in the visualization. The same data points in different periods don't always highlight a trend; so I will manipulate towards something actionable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Transformed data in to actionable information.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I have not used the server version as it can get pricey.

Great Analytical Tool

What do you like best about the product?
I love the ease and ability to pull data fairly quickly, especially while in meetings. About half of my daily and weekly reporting comes out of here.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes load times, typically when using multiple filters, can be really slow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tableau allows us to put many different reports, charts, and documents in a shared space, with the ability to only let certain people access each area.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you manage large amounts of data and have a need present that data to others, Tableau is definitely the way to go. It, also, makes it easy for you to manipulate the data in an attractive way and allow for anyone to understand what is in front of them.

Tableau Reveiew

What do you like best about the product?
It is a very nice and functional platform. There are a ton of different options you can use for graphics and tables. It can be utilized to tabulate a lot of differing information for a clearer picture, as well as make a lot of graphics to share.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not fast, that is proabably its biggest downfall. It seems like it takes forever to load, and then takes forever to make any selections. In addition to that, it likes to default to the starting point, instead of being able to unclick certain areas and reclick to re-view.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it for a lot of different items: Satisfaction, production, views for new sales/confirms, meetings had, comparison.
We use it figure trends in data and where succesful people are, and where areas of improvement are

Share Data and Vizualizations with Ease

What do you like best about the product?
Tableau Server is intuitive, customizable and secure. I love that users can alter a view and save as their default so it opens to the most relevant information. Dashboards are easy to share with no need to download additional software.
What do you dislike about the product?
Setting the permissions appropriately so dashboards can be shared with select groups can sometimes get complicated.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm using Tableau to make my report more efficient, automated, and tell the story in a clean, organized way. Reports that previous existed in Excel that were slow to open, difficult to update and hard to look at are now a joy to review.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Tableau Server can enable you to share dashboards via the Mobile App, but keep in mind that this will require additional security measures

Awesome tool to simply pull metrics

  • September 05, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I used Tableau software to pull metrics of teams all across the organization. It was already built for us to simply put in what we wanted to see and pick how we wanted to see it. It was simple, easy to use, and effective. It does take time to get used to it, but after that, it was no issue.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not a lot of complaints, but there are just tons and tons of features that you can use which can be confusing when initially learning to use the product. It is also up to your engineers or analysts building the tool for your company, whether or not it will be easy to use... But in the end, all the additional tools were super helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We pulled our metrics from SalesForce to see how much work was being done by each employee and over all as a team, as well as the division. It helps us visually see a trend yoy and month over month to see which seasons or months are tougher or better. It also helps individual employees be able to keep a track of their KPI and metrics.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a very useful tool to pull data. I've seen PowerBI and Tableau, they're very similar to an outside (non-tech) person like me, but Tableau was fairly easy to see from the start as opposed to PowerBI, hard to figure out what is what.
