What do you like best about the product?
No metadata layer! It makes it easier to import data.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can take a long time to load changes when trying different views.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reporting on contracts and compliance. We've figured out where the noise will come from and been able to address it on time.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Tutorials are very helpful and useful

What do you like best about the product?
It's super easy to connect Tableau Desktop to the server and even easier to quickly publish dashboards/stories. You can even create "tabbed dashboards" with the server that make a lot of sense compared to packaging a workbook and using Tableau Reader.
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't found anything I don't like about it so far. Maybe I wish there were a few more customization options!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're solving the issue of sharing reports. It used to all be done through emails, or internal servers (which don't work for anyone outside of the organization). With Tableau Server, you can send a link and set permissions for who can see each dashboard and then they can check it anytime!

What do you like best about the product?
Beautiful way to visualize company data quickly and easily
What do you dislike about the product?
Not a lot of documentation has been provided for the service, so it's difficult to learn how to make more detailed optimizations (e.g., custom colors, year-over-year charts, etc.).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Can now easily view data without having to generate reports and charts in Excel.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get a Developer who knows what he/she is doing.

I haven't come across anything that I dislike.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use tableau to display sales reports/stats. It is an easy way to keep the team informed about what is happening in their area.

Powerful Self Service BI Platform

What do you like best about the product?
So easy to get up and running with Tableau server. Allows for clients to easily publish workbooks and dashboards to Tableau server to allow users to at their leisure access the views via a self service portal. The UI is easy and clear to understand and use and embedded search facility allows you to find views with ease. The server specs we found considering the amount of work that goes onto our Tableau server are very good with the server running absolutely fine with 4 cores and 16Gb RAM.
What do you dislike about the product?
Licencing changed after we purchased the server product from Tableau and now if we wanted to extend our infrastructure it would cost us far too much money so expand-ability has somewhat been cut off for us. We have also had some fairly annoying problems on upgrading from one version of Tableau server to another. These have been as minor as graphical glitches in the views displayed via Tableau server to most extreme one where the product was using up vast quantities of disk space causing our disks to fill and the product to stop functioning. Tableau releases are very frequent and I personally feel that Tableau as a company should do more testing before simply releasing it to the world.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ability to connect disparate data sources from different technologies together (e.g. Excel, Access and SQL server) and to be able to disseminate views and dashboards of this data to our user base via a web client. Mobile devices can now be used to consume MI and BI reports and bespoke Android and Apple apps only enhance this experience.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Have a look at Tableau public first as this is a very close experience to the server product and do not be put off by the installation and administration side of Tableau Server as it is extremely simple and easy to look after.

New User - Loving It So Far

What do you like best about the product?
We're just now in the process of setting up Wave at our company. I think there is a steeper learning curve than we would have hoped, but it is a new software to us, so we did expect to be a little slower on the uptake.
What do you dislike about the product?
The documentation is a little confusing - it presumes a certain amount of knowledge about the product which we may not have had. I would suggest running through the Trailheads before diving into Wave to have a deeper understanding of the terminology.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had limited insight into trends in both our sales funnel and our customer health metrics. With just one dashboard, we've enabled our Customer Success Manager's to be able to slice their data a variety of ways to get a better understanding of their book's of business.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would make sure that you have enough time to dedicate to learning the tool completely. There is a learning curve, but once you start to get the hang of it, things begin to come together more easily.

The graphical option of making new surveys look interesting makes working with data more fun.
What do you dislike about the product?
It needs much more improvement. The drill down is not elaborate and crunching of huge volumes of data is not fast enough

Needed a software that can give insight on our available data / documents / leads, this resolved it for us

if you are a small business and you need a perspective, location based leads, status of your logistics, then you need this.

What do you like best about the product?
The interface is very user friendly and enable users to obtain information eliminating data requests.
What do you dislike about the product?
I hope the data preparation of the software can be stronger.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This allow users to obtain basic standard information on their own.

This eliminate data requests and empower the user to look into information they needed and even what they ever thought they needed.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The downside of Tableau is it is expensive, so there are many other growing choices for other options from Microsoft or other small vendors.
