  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The real-time change in dashboard environment as per the filters in play makes it convenient putting the emphasis points while presenting or pitching idea to someone.
What do you dislike about the product?
After 4-5 level of details, it resets, thus making it a bit difficult to bring out the concerned interpretations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been creating database of energy consumption pattern of formal industry sectors of India aling with their CO2 emission. Tableau helps in locating the low hanging interpretations easily and further aids in going in to deeper level of details.

What do you like best about the product?
Tableau can be integrated with any data source to load data such as data warehouse and database as Oracle , Ms access and Ms excel and even CSV files. It also performs advance analytical functions and helps explore ore fro ordinary data in charts and tables that are visually appealing. Also, it has functionality to showcase data on maps and share the tableau files with the clients in read only or write-able format.Tableau also allows to load and save data on cloud.

It stores data on public cloud which can lead to data security issues and compliance issues for some organisation. Also, one must be well acquaint to the tool to use and needs training before running operation on it.Also, it requires a paid version to make edit and just has the free version to view files.

What do you like best about the product?
I love the customer support and the ability to upscale and downscale easily.

You need a lot of domain-specific knowledge to effectively use Tableau - often times hours of learning SQL and data analysis.

I'm trying to incorporate business intelligence in my organization with Tableau. I've realized the benefits of harnessing access to powerful data analytics and drill-down features.

In fact, great for accumulating information from various resources

  • September 04, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tableau helped us move from arbitrary spreadsheet reports to consolidated dashboards that are pleasant to consider and also very easy to interpret. The user interface is attractive and also simple to navigate. Once all the data sources are attached, it will be very easy to produce an entirely new layout if you understand exactly how to evaluate your own information. Virtually all the assimilations we needed were included in the moment.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is difficult to develop some extra complex reports. If you want to combine two various information resources in one view, you will need some innovative skills. You need a training system, it is not a plug and also for use, you need to have some experience and training to use it. It's still okay
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are well integrated with the product's associated environment, just as Tableau is well integrated with the other tools we use. It provided the most effective balance of attributes, maturity and value for our needs. We exchanged our basic Excel reports because they were not great, they were difficult to update and they also did not consist of many useful details on each screen.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It has been great as a device for making any type of report, really easy to use genuine, and if you think of a record it is probably already suggested and also made by Tableau. That resembles a data source that recognizes you, and also immediately, getting ideas for what you might need regarding records, is really fantastic and genuine.

Engaging and adaptable work for best practices

  • September 02, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tableau is a software for both creative people that need a platform to engage with and non-creative people who need guidance to make their ideas come to life. I love the ability to create dashboards that allow users to interact with the data and view it according to their needs. This is a positive and a negative, but Tableau is a lot of trial and error. There are lots of different ways to accomplish the same goals. Sometimes that is nice because you can find exactly what works for you and your organization. Other times if you do not know exactly the best way to accomplish something you can get lost trying to do the problem-solving.
What do you dislike about the product?
The graphs are not always easily customized. Tableau does not allow your colors to have patterns. Sometimes when sticking to a color scheme, patterns are helpful for filling in graphs. Other software allow you to change each individual piece of the graph and drag and drop individual pieces (data labels, legends, axis titles, etc.) in ways that. It is a small piece of the work, but it can pose challenges. Another challenge is layering the graphs. Layering graphs leaves the hover function in tooltip covered up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My work is visualizing large data sets to be presentable to our audiences. We are allowing different areas of an institution to filter the data to look at just their department or just area of interest in terms of equity and diversity factors. Tableau has been helpful to show multiple sets of data (that would normally be put in a table) all in one place. The hover function in tooltip really cleans up the graphic by not having to label every individual piece of the graph. We also use the tooltip with the shape tool so that we have an "information icon" that contains all of the footnotes to our data in the tooltip.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Watch tutorials and join tableau communities in order to share tips and tricks. Chances are someone out there has done what you are seeking to do.

Good Reporting Tool

  • September 02, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It provides clean easy to use reports that look professional.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's a bit clunky to use in that you can not do drill down analysis as readily as I have see with other reporting tools.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Big picture reporting is a brilliant feature of this product so we can look at things at a glance to see how performance is trending.

Excellent Reporting Tool for creating very Advanced and User Friendly dashboards

  • September 01, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tableau Desktop provides a complete solution for any kind of user developing reports, graphs and dashboards since it is a very intuitive tool and very easy to use. Basically, 80% of effort of development is just point and click and if you need to increase performance or create specifics businesses rules, you will need some basic technical knowledge. You can create dashboards relatively fast and with a good performance when updating it's data.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tableau Desktop client may run slow depending on your computer settings. When you need to create complex business rules for data presentation that can be very tricky since you will need to create many nested settings to achieve desired results. Tableau allows user to apply simple data transformation rules but it doesn't really provide a module to develop very complex ETL processes, it is recommended to have the data prepared before loading into Tableau.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tableau Desktop allows users to develop pretty much any kind of reporting needs in a fast way. You can refresh data and publish data over Tableau Online Server easily and make your report be public. You can spend most of your time focusing in business rules than technical issues working with tool.

Great data visualization tool but short of in-memory database

  • August 27, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tableau provides a very enriched set of tools to build data visualizations very quickly. Easy to create calculations and add parameters to data
What do you dislike about the product?
Tableau misses an ETL layer that enables to pick and choose the fields you would like to import from a data set for mapping purposes. Also, there is no access to underlying script that could give higher level of control for developers
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tableau is an intuitive BI tool that is helping me with analysis of complex data and automation of operational reports. It is easy to use and navigate through visualizations for end users and connects to a wide range of data sources.

Tableau - holy grain for visualisations

  • August 14, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about tableau is that it is so easy to learn and simple visualisations can be made by dragging dimensions and fact data to rows and columns.
Apart from this, Tableau has a lot of internal resources which are available to understand the concepts easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
A lot of times ‘show me’ feature can be misleading. It doesn’t always give you the best ideas for the data available. Compared to Qlikview, there isn’t a data modelling option available to completely transform the data as per your needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am currently doing a project on stock price predictions by unsupervised detections of candlestick patterns. I visualise the stock patterns as per my model in Tableau and it also helps me to forecast the data accurately. Also, the license is a bit expensive for startup organisations.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Its a really good tool for beginners to learn and for advanced people to explore. The Tableau community is very strong so if there are any questions, you can go there asking for help. As a visualisation tool, its really good but the most important aspect is having a business understanding and then developing the data viz.
