Great monitoring tool
What do you like best about the product?
It is able to send email notification when we monitor our MSSQL DB
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel that the license cost is a bit expensive and the monitoring can put some load to the sql server being monitored.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
monitors our mssql production databases
Great SQL Monitoring platform
What do you like best about the product?
I have been using Redgate SQL Monitor for around 13 years. I did a lot of research when picking it as it is a large investment and the fact I am still using it and justifying it every year shows its quality. It is constantly updated with actually useful features, web based so no agents on production systems and genuinely useful dashboards and metrics. Really helps me and the team in our day to day.
What do you dislike about the product?
The recent adddition of the Enterprise version is concerning that we will lose features or capability. We need to justify this expense to our management every year when global platforms are in use by other teams. If the cost creeps up too much it will be too hard to justify so hopefully they can manage this without losing us.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Getting insight into our production database systems, spotting trends and potential issues.
Our journey with Redgate SQL monitor
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of deployment and the friendly GUI interface distinguishes it from the other products.
What do you dislike about the product?
Its certainly heavy but you can come around this with adequate resourcing on how it is setup. But its not an overhead as it provides a lot of detailing and it is a must have features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Performance issues can arise any day due to unseen circumstances. Redgate allows us to pin point the pain areas and provides recommendations to overcome those issues.
Reliable SQL Server Performance Insights
What do you like best about the product?
Provides insightful reports and timely alerts, making it excellent for tracking resource utilization across different time periods.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost can be high for smaller environments, a per server pricing model would make it more accessible and scalable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Redgate Monitor helps us stay on top of critical issues like backup failures, deadlocks, long-running queries, and high CPU/RAM utilization. It enables us to respond quickly to failed backups with detailed diagnostics, reducing resolution time. Deadlock and long-running query alerts guide improvements in application query design, while resource utilization metrics help us make informed decisions about hardware upgrades or VM scaling.
Redgate monitor review for Sql databases
What do you like best about the product?
it is very detailed and makes troubleshooting databases easier for dbas
What do you dislike about the product?
it doesn't give much context outside of the database issues the way an apm will and it could also improve it's solution for databases that are not sqlserver(postgres and Mongodb monitoring offerings can be way better)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Troubleshooting sqlserver database issues in a timely and simple manner. It makes non technical actors also find the issues in an easier way.
Fantastic, responsive monitoring - all the info I need readily available
What do you like best about the product?
Redgate tells me everything I wanted to know about my databases and databaser servers - and things I didn't know I wanted to know!
What do you dislike about the product?
The installation was a little more involved that originally thought, but it wasn't hard to get going.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping an eye on health and performance of our critical databases and database servers
Lot's of tools, falling behind.
What do you like best about the product?
I like all the different monitors. Being able to see top 10 queries by expense and have a means of investigating how to troubleshoot or resolve issues. In terms of SQL Server Enterprise and to some extent Azure SQL, the tool is pretty mature and very dependable. The UI is easy to learn and using the tool becomes second nature. It was easy to setup and get rolling. My DBA's use it multiple times a day to make sure not only do we not have issues. But we are making improvements on performance.
What do you dislike about the product?
A couple of improvements that could fit in this space:
- Better integration with other Red-Gate products (SQL Backup, SQL Prompt, etc)
- We need a solution for security and being able to review security and effective roles at a glance, search, and perspectives. Yes you can do this with code. But we need a faster, visual, facilitated tool.
- ***BIG ONE*** - You guys are making good progress in incorporating other databases (Postgres). However, you are missing the boat on MS Stack which is where your core competency has been for decades and where new tools in MS like Fabric, Synapse, Azure SQL, and Purview are going uncared for. Licensing for SQL Server Enterprise is getting out of control and it is obvious they are pushing people towards SAAS. And there is a huge opportunity for new products to support SAAS as there are very few options out there to fill gaps, especially with your tenure in this role. Example would be monitoring of Fabric resources. Right now we have FUAM, which is great. But it's not enterprise great in leadership's minds. They will pay if you will offer. Or, you go the way of Idera and others, ride the cash-cow and fade into the sunset. I would rather see Red-Gate succeed.

Performance. Every SQL user has different abilities. We can see that in query performance and can give them visibility into what we see so Red-Gate becomes the source of truth AND reason.
Best SQL Monitoring Tool
What do you like best about the product?
What I love about Redgate Monitor is not just the fact that you can monitor your SQL real estate in one Portal (great if your a CSP), but the fact it provides recommendations on how to fix Stored Procedures that have the largest impact on the performance of your Database Servers. The new features around Security compliance is definitely going to be a game changer.
What do you dislike about the product?
Navigation can be improved. Sometimes it can be challenging to find something you might have stumbled across before.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have had an Application that has grown over the 20 year life span of the product, and over that time our Database was not uniform across all our environments. Additionally, because have SaaS platform, some customers had their own Databases vs the Shared Model, and so there was a lot of Drift with regards to Stored Procedures and in some cases, DB Schemas. But Red Gate Monitor has helped identify areas of improvement that we can tackle in a safe manner.
Great product! Exactly what we need.
What do you like best about the product?
Redgate provides all of the server monitoring and data we require to maintain our high availability, enterprise-levels SQL servers
What do you dislike about the product?
The licensing can be a bit tricky adding licenses throughout the year and you wind up with multiple codes and varied licensing end dates
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have 40+ SQL server throughout the country working on a transactional level with a need for 100% up-time. Redgate provides the tools required to predict and prevent upcoming issues such as drive-space issues. It also identifies ongoing issues such as long-running queries and blocking which must be immediaely resolved.
Redgate Monitor
What do you like best about the product?
Redgate Monitor is straightforward to implement and configure, intuitive to use, and simple to manage. Its alerting system is exceptionally reliable—delivering accurate notifications without false positives. It immediately detects when a monitored Windows service is not running and sends an alert notification. Additionally, it's an excellent tool for performance troubleshooting and index tuning, making it a valuable asset for any SQL Server environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
One feature I’d like to see added is capacity planning. Having built-in tools for forecasting disk usage trends would greatly enhance the ability to manage storage more proactively and efficiently.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The tool excels at monitoring SQL Services, server performance, SQL Agent jobs, and availability groups, making it an essential part of any SQL Server environment. It's particularly helpful for performance troubleshooting and index tuning, offering clear insights and actionable metrics.
