SQL Monitor saves time when things go wrong
What do you like best about the product?
SQL Monitor is a life saver when your database goes wrong. When something goes offline, backup jobs fail, or CPU just goes through the roof, having a tool like SQL Monitor lets you know about it, see the stats you need to know to fix it, and see what normal looks like.
Customer support is always fantastic - they want you to love the product and go out of their way to help you get up and running when things go wrong.
I'm in there daily to see what's broken, and what is most important to fix.

What do you dislike about the product?
The push to monitor more than just SQL. I'm not against the move, but would love a way to turn the features on and off that I want.

Alerting when something goes wrong in SQL Server
Improved Visibility and Performance with Redgate SQL Monitor
What do you like best about the product?
The tool is easy to set up and use, with a well-designed and intuitive interface that provides clear insights even for non-specialist users. The overview dashboard gives us an immediate picture of server health, helping us detect and prevent performance or availability issues before they escalate.
What we particularly appreciate:
Highly configurable and intelligent alerts that reduce noise and focus on real issues.
Historical performance data that supports root cause analysis and trend monitoring.
Effortless deployment across multiple SQL Server instances, whether on-premises or in hybrid environments.
As SQL Server administrators, we’ve saved a significant amount of time identifying slow queries, bottlenecks, and resource-related problems. Redgate SQL Monitor integrates seamlessly into our proactive monitoring approach and has helped us improve both system reliability and performance visibility.
We highly recommend it to any IT team looking to strengthen its SQL Server infrastructure monitoring.

What do you dislike about the product?
Resource consumption on monitored servers
SQL Monitor can introduce noticeable overhead on monitored SQL Server instances, particularly during frequent query capture or when monitoring high-load servers. Fine-tuning the polling intervals is necessary to minimize impact in production environments.
Initial alert noise
The alerting system tends to be quite verbose out of the box. It takes some effort to properly tune thresholds and disable non-critical alerts to reduce noise. A role-based or usage-specific alert configuration wizard would be a welcome enhancement.

Previously, we were often in a reactive mode—responding to user complaints or incidents. With SQL Monitor, we now get alerted about issues like long-running queries, blocking, or high resource usage before they impact users. This allows us to act early and reduce downtime.
Investigating performance issues used to be time-consuming and manual. SQL Monitor provides historical performance data, deadlock analysis, and wait stats that make it much easier to identify the root cause of problems and resolve them faster.
The automation of health checks, customizable alerting, and built-in reports saves our DBAs a significant amount of time. We’re able to focus more on optimization and planning rather than firefighting.

Another excellent product from Redgate
What do you like best about the product?
It brings all of the metrics that we were already recording and reporting on together into one place and provides customisable notifications on any issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only real barrier to us as an NHS organisation is the cost. I was offered a three month trial of Redgate Monitor and was very happy with what it could do, but we couldn't get the cost authorised when we already have in-house solutions monitoring for similar issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It puts all of our disparate monitoring requirements into a simple, single top level view that we can then drill down into for more information.
Redate monitor
What do you like best about the product?

Redgate Monitor for SQL Server
What do you like best about the product?
We've been using Redgate Monitor (prev SQL Monitor for nearly 9 years now. It's to monitor and alert on our SQL Server instances. It works really well and the interface is intuitive. Setup is very straightforward too. We had a mix of similar monitoring tools, but recently decided to consolidate to RM for our co-location and AWS based instances. Easy to reconfigure the items monitored and adjust thresholds. UK based supported is mostly good. Some really good people overall, so I do recommend Redgate Monitor.
What do you dislike about the product?
We went through a period where we had a few issues and support was a bit "lacking", so after escalating they reworked a few things and suddenly we started receiving a more timely and appropriate response, as was historically the case. From my viewpoint it was worth persisting and working with them to acheive our desired goals. They do listen to feedback.

Production SQL Server Monitoring. Assist with performance tuning.
Best DB monitoring solution out there!
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use and great MTTR.
Redgate Monitor monitor makes me look so good. Any time something goes wrong (and sometimes even before) I have the answer for it.

What do you dislike about the product?
limted Oracle insights, I understand it is coming, but I wish it was here right now
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Redgate Monitor solves the challenge of proactively managing SQL Server performance and availability. It gives us real-time and historical visibility into our estate, enabling faster root cause analysis, smarter capacity planning, and consistent uptime. The customizable alerts help us stay ahead of issues before users are impacted, while the estate-wide overview reduces the time spent firefighting. It’s especially valuable in complex or hybrid environments where manual monitoring just doesn’t scale. Ultimately, it gives us peace of mind and more time to focus on strategic work.
Easy to use
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use GUI with highly relevant collected data from monitored servers
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't think of anything specific, it could be that there are some incorrect alerts occasionally, but the ones we have identified, support is usually quick to fix.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monitoring and support in analysis work of our customers' databases
No noise - just actionable data
What do you like best about the product?
What I like the most is that upon installation and configuration, we immediately got actionable data that gave us valuable insight into our SQL estate. This allowed us to immediately resolve issues that hadn't been seen before. We can see our entire estate health in a single pane instead of having to drill down on each machine to find out what is going on. Alerts are meaningful and allow us to make changes at a granular level, not just global settings, but down to the machine or database, which is critical for us so that we're not just getting a lot of meaningless noise. Query plans, execution plans, and deadlock events are rich with detail. Redgate has built a lot of custom metrics, but you can also build your own using SQL statements. Integration with REST and Powershell are also a big plus for us.
What do you dislike about the product?
Love the integration with VMWare, which has been really helpful for us. Hope that Redgate will also consider adding integration with Microsoft Stack HCI and AVDs, as we are transitioning many machines to this technology.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is giving us actual, actionable data, based on our company's needs. When we get an alert, we know it is not a false alarm or some vague reference for which there is little to no documentation for us to investigate. We also get real-time resource metrics, SQL metrics (including top queries, waits and sprocs), blocking processes, robust AG metrics, failed jobs, backup history across the estate, and user permissions. All of these data points allow us to immediately and proactively resolve issues which, in turn, allow us to focus effort on other time-sensitive business projects.
DBA Work Buddy
What do you like best about the product?
RedGate Monitor helps a lot in troubleshooting job especially on SQL scripting. The most feature used is deadlock event monitoring. Through RedGate Monitor help, admin can get all the important information through one single webpage.
What do you dislike about the product?
RedGate Monitor lack of customization feature for graph reporting purposes. It also lacks of the user permission features on separating user to allow for viewing different group of servers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are building our SQL DB from scratch for producing our core production db. We engage Re Gate Monitor software since day one when we start the SQL DB developing project. With Redgate Monitor, we are able to analyze the problem with our scripting by configuring various of alert such as deadlock event, blocking and so on.
Redgate Monitor is a handy and powerful tool to monitor SQL Servers in real-time
What do you like best about the product?
In addition to the overall dashboard, real-time alerts, what I like most is to be able to quickly compare baseline metrics across different windows to understand & troubleshoot SQL performance variations in order to effectively support daily DBA operational requirements and business needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
All features are good and no dislikes so far.
