Useful for demand management, project management, pre-sales activities, and planning

  • June 11, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution for various purposes, including demand management, project management, logging pre-sales activities, and planning. It helps us keep track of customer budgets, leads, and other important information related to demand and project management.

What is most valuable?

The tool's most valuable feature is its intuitive interface, which allows project managers to create comprehensive project roadmaps. This interface lets us list tasks and allocate them to team members, tracking who works on which task and when. We utilize it for project management from the initial phase.

The solution is flexible. The grid-based interface allows for customization, so I can focus only on what's relevant. This flexibility and dynamic sorting among the columns are strong features. Another valuable aspect is the board feature, which allows for much customization. You can organize your work, weeks, or schedule according to your preferences.

monday.com's dashboard feature helps boost my team's productivity. I've found the Azure DevOps integration to be the most beneficial. I believe there are third-party extensions available on the marketplace that fill the integration gap. It seems that monday.com is working with vendors in the market to make more of these integrations available.

It's a great tool. It allows me to manage many things in one place, both my tasks and day-to-day interactions within the team. I think the whole team resonates with it.

What needs improvement?

I believe the reporting functionality could be improved on monday.com. While some reports are accessible, this area has room for enhancement. For example, including a Gantt chart in project planning would be valuable. This addition could make monday.com more competitive with tools like Microsoft Project. Overall, I think there's potential for improvement in the graphical interfaces and reports provided by monday.com.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with the product for one and a half years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We haven't experienced any lag so far. We use monday.com for cross-team collaboration. I can attach files and it works like a charm. The cloud version is very responsive for us, which is great. I rate its stability a nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate the tool's scalability a nine out of ten. My company has 400 users who spend at least an hour daily using it.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We switched from Jira because monday.com offers a much more intuitive interface. It's more stable and has a simpler learning curve. Additionally, the interface is more visually appealing and easier to navigate than Jira, which we found to be more complex.

How was the initial setup?

I rate the tool's deployment ease as seven out of ten. I found the installation process to be straightforward. Setting up multifactor authentication may take some time for those who are not tech-savvy.

Within a week of management making the decision. It was up and running quickly, taking only a few hours or days for setup. Overall, I would classify the deployment process as simple.

What was our ROI?

We can see ROI due to the solution's ease of use and improved management capabilities it offers. It has certainly alleviated a lot of pain points for us in management.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I rate the tool's pricing a six out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

I rate the tool a seven out of ten. My advice would be to explore the capabilities that it provides. Many people overlook some of its features. For instance, check out the options available in the marketplace. There might be integrations or extensions that monday.com doesn't offer out of the box, but third-party extensions can fill those gaps. Also, take a close look at the features within monday.com. Consider what you need to customize versus what it offers out of the box.

Easy to use but fails to provide a free version for an extended period of time

  • May 17, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I used the tool for my assignment as I am a university student. I use the tool as a project management solution for presentations. I am using the tool to manage my final year presentation and thesis. As I am required to use a project management tool, I started to use monday.com, specifically because its interface is quite attractive and easy to use.

For project management purposes, I use monday.com to manage my timelines.

What is most valuable?

I don't really use the tool's advanced features, but I think it is quite convenient that I can just link the remaining timeline to calculate the set of end dates and the start dates. The tool can also auto-calculate the remaining days, and I can also figure out whether it is overdue or is still within the timeline that I had set, making things quite convenient for me.

What needs improvement?

The product fails to provide a free version for a long period of time. From an improvement perspective, the tool should provide its free version for a longer time. If I want to use the product after I have completed my assignment, or if I want to use it for some of my other projects, I don't really get to use it again.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using monday.com for two months. I am a user of the tool.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution. Stability-wise, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I am just using the product for my assignment.

How was the initial setup?

I rate the product's initial setup phase a seven on a scale of one to ten, where ten is easy and one is difficult.

The product's deployment phase took a day after watching a tutorial from YouTube.

The solution is available on its website.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I am using the tool's free version.

What other advice do I have?

The tool's automation feature is not relevant for me because I don't really need it for my assignment.

I recommend the tool to others because it is easy to use, but I am not sure whether it would still be easy to use if you have more complex applications.

I rate the tool a seven out of ten.

Excellent dashboards, checklists, calendar functionalities

  • December 29, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

This initiation of a systematic approach allowed me to seamlessly track progress and engage in efficient communication with the project lead. The structured workflow enhances visibility and fosters a collaborative environment, reinforcing the symbiotic relationship between my role as a designer and the leadership provided by the project lead. This deliberate coordination on monday.com by streamlined processes and heightened productivity ensures that the design projects unfold with precision and creativity.

How has it helped my organization?

monday.com has significantly enhanced our organizational efficiency and collaboration. The platform serves as a centralized hub where design briefs are assigned to me every day. This feature streamlines communication with the project lead, enabling real-time updates and fostering a transparent workflow. The visual nature of monday.com ensures that project timelines and task statuses are easily trackable, contributing to improved project management.

The platform's interactive interface has facilitated seamless communication and reduced the likelihood of misunderstandings, creating a more cohesive work environment. Additionally, the ability to attach files and leave comments directly on tasks has streamlined the exchange of information, making collaboration more efficient.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of monday.com for our organization are undoubtedly the dashboards, checklists, calendar functionalities, and file-sharing capabilities. Dashboards serve as a visual command center, offering a comprehensive overview of project progress, deadlines, and key performance indicators. This visual representation enhances decision-making and facilitates a quick understanding of the project landscape.

Checklists play a pivotal role in task management, allowing for a structured approach to project execution. The ability to create, edit, and update checklists within the platform ensures that team members stay organized, tasks are completed in a systematic manner, and project timelines are adhered to.

What needs improvement?

While monday.com has been an invaluable tool for our organization, there are areas where improvements could enhance user experience. Specifically, expanding pulses could be more user-friendly. Currently, users need to click on a small text line to expand pulses, which can be somewhat cumbersome. A more intuitive approach would be to enable users to click on the entire table cell for pulse expansion. This modification would streamline the process, making it more accessible and reducing the risk of oversight.

Additionally, it would be beneficial to consider incorporating features that enhance the platform's customization capabilities in the next release. Providing users with more options to tailor their boards, dashboards, and views would contribute to a more personalized and adaptable user experience. This could include advanced formatting options, customizable templates, or the ability to incorporate additional data visualization tools.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using monday.com for about four to five years

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used Trello, however, have found monday.com to have a greater product offering.

A stable product that ensures better team coordination and better project management in an organization

  • December 18, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use monday.com in my company for work management, project management, and task management.

How has it helped my organization?

With the use of the tool in our organization, we have had a good experience with better team coordination and better project management, but one cannot modify it.

What is most valuable?

Though the product's interface is quite simple, it lacks some functionalities. There are some automation areas that work quite well in the solution, but the product lacks in certain items when it comes to implementation.

What needs improvement?

Mostly, the sub-items in the organization of the project are areas where improvements are needed. Though it offers full customizability, the table is an area where the product's performance is not quite up to the mark. From any improvement perspective, the solution should consider the aforementioned areas where it lacks.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have experience with monday.com. I use the solution's latest version since it is a SaaS-based product.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

More than 200 people in my company use the solution.

Our company has plans to increase the usage of the solution in the future.

How was the initial setup?

The product's initial setup phase was straightforward.

The solution is deployed on the cloud.

The solution is always ready to use since it is available in the cloud, but you need a week or two to get the product working correctly.

For the deployment, you mostly create your team and invite people, and you complete the templates and dashboard. The longest part of the deployment is related to the dashboard, as you need to customize the dashboard to your needs.

At least two people with technical knowledge are required to take care of the deployment and maintenance of the product, but as it is a user-friendly tool, anyone can manage it.

What about the implementation team?

Our company's in-house team managed the product's installation.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Though I am unsure about the product's pricing plan, there is a need to make monthly payments towards the licensing costs attached to the solution, and it operates on a per-user plan.

What other advice do I have?

Those who plan to use the solution should take time to dive deep, test, and try to customize the product to meet their needs.

I rate the overall product a nine out of ten.

What do you like best about the product?
I like how you can centralise all your work tasks into one place and easily prioritize tasks. It's also useful at the end of the month for tracking everything you have done for clients.

Collaboration between team members and departments is also very easy and it helps with tracking how far along a project is.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some features you need plugins for should be standard really and I think the interface could be more customizable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Things were pretty disconnected amongst the team and Monday has helped bring everything together. It's much much easier to organise my workflow amongst multiple ongoing tasks and track what is getting done each month.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that you organise your workload in one place and put a status on a task. I think it helps keep up to date without having notes on paper all over my desk. I enjoy that we have board for each client and can see all the ongoing tasks that need completing, even if its not within my team.

Ok for simple projects

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's very straightforward compared to heftier platforms like Jira. Very intuitive and easy to manage individual items.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's dreadful if you have a large number of projects and you need to manage resource across those projects. You can only get combined data across up to 20 boards at any one time so doing capacity planning or time management doesn't work. The reporting is dreadful - you cannot manipulate the data to get what you need - you're mostly stuck with what it gives you.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can see what we have on at any given point in time and keep a record of issues.
