Streamlined and Augmented EPM and Strategic Planning Solution with Single Source of Truth

  • December 08, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
With Jedox, the enterprises can integrate their strategic activities across your finance, sales & operations, procurement, human resource, productions and other functional department. This is not only creating a single source of truth that will provide a better quality of data that enables the decision-makers to make effective and informed strategic decision at the right time based on the on accurate and consistent data, but also reducing the amount of time and cost consumption during the processes. Meanwhile, it is quite user friendly as it is still linked to the Microsoft platforms that most of the users who are commonly familiar with, as well as the Jedox connector allows the users to extract the data from different source systems and visualise the data with other 3rd party BI tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
Although there are different kind of models are available for the customers to select, install and utilise from the Jedox Marketplace. However, the functionalities and capabilities of Jedox can only be optimised through a certain level of customisation and configuration by Jedox consultants before the deployment. A good level of commitment from the end-users is required during the project to allow the model builders to gather sufficient amount of detailed information.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Building a single source of truth to eliminate the duplications in data and improve the data quality for better decision-making; reducing the amount of time spent on the manual processes and ad-hoc reporting while putting more effort on more meaningful activities especially analytics, as well as proneness to human error in data entry.

One-stop shop for organisational BI needs. Spreadsheet on steroids

  • August 14, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
- Ease of use especially in reporting and preparing intuitive dashboards. Developing web reports is an extension of working on excel on the web
- Easy transition from excel to dynamic web dashboards
- Budgeting and planning is very easy to implement with some dynamic reports
- Visual and easy to follow ETL process that makes it very easy to track each steps in the ETL process
- Ready compatibility with a plethora of modern DB systems
- Ability to run R code as well other programming scripts to automate some tasks
- Simplified security management and admin tasks
What do you dislike about the product?
- Initially the training was absent on the tool so lot of struggle to understand the mechanics behind. Now the training is improving a lot and they are taking steps in the right direction with training.
- It is important to make sure that Excel add-in for the current version of Jedox is safely stored in the organisation. As it becomes difficult to source the add-in for older versions difficult to find.
- Despite being an amazing product, if the entire ETL development is carried out inside Jedox, there is a risk of dependancy on the product in case going forward the organisation want to reevaluate its BI suite, the switching cost will be very high and pretty much start from scratch will be required. A mitigating approach would be to adopt a mixed bag approach by doing major part of the ETL on SQL server or the like and to do the rest in Jedox. Although, considering their constant R&D enables them to keep their product very relevant by packaging new functionalities in newer versions so even end-to-end development in this platform should yield great results if there is a long term commitment to the product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Organisational budgeting and Forecasting
- Financial reporting, dashboards for Finance, HR etc
- Management reporting and Board reporting
- Revenue planning
- On-demand Annual statutory reporting which is a major efficiency gain of over 3 days of initial set-up and then further pain whenever changes had to be made to the accounts
- Single source of truth for numbers
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a great product especially for small Finance teams who lack the resources and knowhow to cater to a large scale BI team. Its usability far exceeds the Finance teams requirement so once implemented well by the Finance team, they can champion the product elsewhere in the organisation and optimise the value that can be derived from using Jedox.
