Seems crazy, chaotic and disorganized at first - but eventually, becomes a tool for brainstorming

What do you like best about the product?
Pros:
- The collaboration aspect of the tool - users don't need full license to participate
- Fun aspect for assigning users creative usernames when they don't have a license
- Using the sticky notes and being able to reorganize them
- Templates are great
- Extreme flexibility on formatting so we aren't spending time trying to get a box or image to line up the way we would in a Word or PPT.
- This is a wonderful tool for working in our hybrid/remote world - I was a late adopter to Lucid on my team, however after owning a few lucids of my own to do work and collaborate with team members, it is a great tool for whiteboarding remotely. I have used it to develop processes, get feedback on lessons learned exercises, prioritization exercises, mapping reports/metrics and how they all relate, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cons:
- Overall, perhaps it is the fear? annoyance? of another new tool we have to learn how to use effectively. Sharing a Lucid with new users who we need to participate and click through is also a challenge as we need to explain all the nuances (e.g., use the right click to move around the board, if you scroll with your mouse it will zoom in and out not move you up or down, etc.).
- Having to use the right click to move things around is not intuitive to me
- As a heavy Excel / PPT user, the haphazard way things can be placed in the tool at first gave me a lot of anxiety and I hated using Lucid but most of my team uses Lucid for most things. It seemed highly disorganized. I love colors but there were so many color options it was hard to know where to focus when I opened up a Lucid.
- Clicking into the boxes to edit isn't as easy - when you first click in everything highlights in the box and you need to click again to edit where you want
- If I have two boxes one on top of the other, and my typing in the box above is long, it begins to overlap the box below rather than having the box below adjust and move down to prevent the overlap. This causes a lot of wasted time spent moving and reorganizing boxes so we can see everything.
- Our team uses a lot of arrows in Lucid. While I like that they automatically curve to be as visually appealing and easy to see as possible, getting the click right to create and link the arrow to another box takes a little bit of time to catch on with that specific click over the purple circle. This may just be how we use the tool as well, but the arrows can get overwhelming because some of our Lucids have so many of them. If I was doing this in Excel or other table format like in PowerPoint, I could have neat boxes that are all in order. Again, as a fairly new user and "late adopter" to Lucid on my team, I see the value of having all of the flexibility in Lucid to move things around and then reorganize because brainstorming doesn't go in sequence.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Highly collaborative tool so we can work together even when not in the same room.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Lucidcharts is the ease of use and shapes available to quickly create a clear diagram of dataflow of my software design.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there was more UML based ways to write code to generate a flowchart / diagram.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is helping me draw out software design outlines and dataflow diagrams, which is good for planning and presenting to the team.

Excellent tool for real-time collaboration and visual workflows.

What do you like best about the product?
Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite makes it incredibly easy to create flowcharts, wireframes, and diagrams in a visually intuitive way. Its real-time collaboration features are a game-changer for remote teams, allowing seamless input from multiple users without lag. The interface is user-friendly, and the integration with other tools like Google Drive, Jira, and Slack adds significant productivity benefits. Templates are also a huge time-saver and help maintain consistency across teams.
What do you dislike about the product?
While Lucid is a powerful tool, it can sometimes feel a bit limited when dealing with more complex design or diagramming needs that require advanced customization. Also, performance can slow down when working with large documents or multiple collaborators. The pricing may be a concern for small teams or startups.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite helps solve the challenge of aligning cross-functional teams by providing a centralized platform for visual communication and brainstorming. It eliminates confusion and miscommunication by enabling real-time collaboration on diagrams, workflows, and system architecture. This is especially helpful in remote or hybrid work environments where in-person whiteboarding isn't possible. For me, it has improved project planning, sped up decision-making, and enhanced team alignment across departments. The ability to visualize complex ideas has made onboarding, documentation, and stakeholder communication far more efficient.

Efficient tool for the middle man

  • July 07, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful feature of lucid chart is the ability to create flow diagrams that can be supplemented with comments, footnotes, and even pictures to paint a clear picture.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a few disadvantages to Lucid that I often run into, such as constantly having to lock and unlock shapes so that they keep a consistent sizing in my diagrams. Another big problem I run into is when I login to Lucid, all the layers, even the ones I've turned off, are visible when I load the page. I have to manually go and turn them all off again which is very frustrating and confusing for my organization that I am creating documentation for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allowing me to create clear workflows for others to reference and understand the flow of their team processes.

A Game-Changer for Team Collaboration and Visual Planning

  • July 07, 2025

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Lucid is how seamlessly it brings teams together—no matter where they are. The combination of Lucidchart and Lucidspark allows us to move from brainstorming to execution in one unified space. I especially appreciate the real-time collaboration features, intuitive interface, and deep integrations with tools like Google Workspace and Jira. It’s incredibly easy to visualize complex ideas, align cross-functional teams, and keep everyone on the same page.
What do you dislike about the product?
While the Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite is incredibly powerful, one area that could be improved is performance with very large or complex diagrams. Occasionally, when working with highly detailed visuals or multiple collaborators, the platform can become a bit sluggish. Additionally, while the integrations are strong, some advanced features require a bit of a learning curve or are only available on higher-tier plans, which might be limiting for smaller teams or startups.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite is solving several key challenges for our team:

Lack of alignment across departments: With Lucid, we can visually map out processes, systems, and strategies in a way that everyone understands—regardless of their role or technical background. This has significantly improved cross-functional communication and reduced misunderstandings.

Inefficient brainstorming and planning: Lucidspark has made our ideation sessions more dynamic and productive. We can capture ideas in real time, vote on priorities, and turn concepts into actionable plans—all in one place.

Difficulty visualizing complex systems: Lucidchart helps us break down and document complex workflows, architectures, and data flows. This has been especially valuable for onboarding new team members and aligning stakeholders.

Remote collaboration barriers: As a hybrid team, we needed a tool that supports both synchronous and asynchronous work. Lucid enables us to collaborate effectively no matter where we are, which has boosted productivity and team morale.

The biggest benefit is that Lucid helps us move faster with more clarity and confidence. It’s become a central part of how we think, plan, and execute as a team.
