Best Directory Service We Have Found
What do you like best about the product?
We found Jumpcloud while looking for a solution for a cloud based Radius server to implement Enterprise authentication for our staff wireless network. Little did I realize at first just how powerful and cost-effective a tool I had located.
Jumpcloud is very easy to use and makes a great replacement for Microsoft Active Directory, especially when needing to add MacOS based systems to the Directory. It works with our Office365 directory to keep everything in sync, which is very helpful.
Setup is easy on both Mac and Windows PCs. Management is easy, also, and the web interface is very intuitive. The new MDM features work well. The provided tool to migrate from MS AD works easily on Windows 10 machines. Users have easy access to manage their own passwords, so that removes a load of work off of IT.
Their online support is great. They have excellent documentation for every feature I have implemented or problem I have had.
Jumpcloud is a system that just works without much fuss, ad for an IT department of 1, that's exactly what I need.

What do you dislike about the product?
The MDM service is new, so there aren't a lot of features like more fully featured MDM solutions.
There is't yet support for Windows machines on the MDM, so some of the deep management features aren't there yet. Application installation is an option though.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have an easy to implement Directory service hat works cross platform on both Windows and Mac (also Linux, but we don't use that OS). We can manage all users in via a single pane of glass, so I don't have to be on campus to fix issues. Users can now reset their own passwords whenever they want (or I want them to).
One of the BEST options available
What do you like best about the product?
I like SSO integrations and device policies.
What do you dislike about the product?
I honestly can't think of anything that I dislike so far.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ease of user management on devices and the ability to tie user logins with just about anything is great!
Great Product! Just be Ready to Spend Time Setting Up & Learning the Many Features
What do you like best about the product?
The clean-looking design and intuitive user interface. Also, the support staff are very helpful.
Also very interested in the feature of using MFA for logging into our Macs.,

What do you dislike about the product?
As a business owner with very limited experience in IT, fulfilling this need while keeping costs to a minimum because resources are more limited in a small business like ours quickly becomes challenging and, at times, incredibly frustrating. JumpCloud was appealing and valuable due to the lower prices, which offered the greatest value out of the alternatives we ear considering. The ability to manage users as well as manage mac devices is a major selling point for me.
It would be great to have even more MDM functionality, especially for Mac and mobile devices.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use many different native and cloud apps across multiple devices and operating systems, though Apple macOS/iOS is the primary environment used on a daily basis. In addition to improving our overall levels of cybersecurity and maintaining safe data practices that are absolutely essential due to the nature of the industry we operate within, I am also seeking to improve operational efficiencies and the end-user's ease of use in accessing all of these tools, files, data sources, etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be prepared and ready to spend a hefty amount of time setting it up and learning the product.
Cloud policy enforcement that works
What do you like best about the product?
You can actually try out JumpCloud. Most alleged competitors put sales engineers in the way of you and your solution. Free trial is an unencumbered way to explore JumpCloud and see which problems it solves for you and how.
What do you dislike about the product?
If I had to find something to dislike, there is nothing specific. I would have to say "it could be cheaper" only because it can always be cheaper. To be fair, I believe it's a great value.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Benefits are controls for heterogeneous endpoints. Our one-off macos units can be managed better than native tools.
Domain control without the domain headaches
What do you like best about the product?
The policy and hardening of workstations
What do you dislike about the product?
Time is missing for pushing applications
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This fits a gap for our clients that have moved from local domain to cloud technologies to secure and harden user workstations and laptops. We can deploy new user hardware with packaged policies and hardening just like we would on a local domain. This allows us to secure our client environments and have less of the wild west for users to have free reign of security, applications, changing admin settings. Most important over all is manageability and security of our client's resources.
I'm thankful these guys came along!
What do you like best about the product?
It works! It's easy to use. And it's easy to set up! It's such a relief to have all our users managed in the same place. I'm also quite happy that the endpoint device management is working. It lets me demonstrate implemented policies to my customers.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not as 'out-of-the-box' as we'd like. There is a definite learning curve. I'd like it to work better with Google directory and to have more HR tool integrations -- such as with BambooHR.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to manage identities and devices. We were able to demonstrate security compliance with our customers. We are also able to manage devices much more easily with employee entry/exit.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go for it!
Couldn't ask for more in our Hybrid environment
What do you like best about the product?
JumpCloud is an efficient application that allows us to keep track of our Users and Devices, also allowing us to use SSO across our organization. The ability to push down policies to end-users devices has help us tremendously. Our on-boarding and off-boarding procedures have been simplified. The use of JumpCloud "System Insights" functionality can analyze individual machines quickly and effectively. They are continuously updating and adding helpful features.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't say there is anything I don't like about JumpCloud. Their customer support has been there for us at any time we had questions. They have always been able to point us in the right direction to solve issues. They make our operations run smoother, leaving me time to focus on other important matters
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to manage our devices and users with ease. Our company also takes advantage of the ability to use JumpCloud as an inventory tool. The ability to configure device policies is awesome. The one major benefit we have realized is the time-savings. To be able to use one application to do so many different things has been the most beneficial aspect brought to our company. We are able to install software via command line, in a moment's notice.
Pleasant Identity Management for Server Acces
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of managing users across my organization with specified permissions, password requirements, key management etc. I can do it all from the portal. Adding new users is a breeze and retiring those that no longer need acces is even easier
What do you dislike about the product?
No complaints so far. I had a good friend walk me through set up which appeared daunting at first.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Server access/ permissions
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're looking for a one-stop shop for Access controls and administration, look no further.
Fully functional AD replacement/add-on with developed management and authentication integrations
What do you like best about the product?
Seamless endpoint management, user management and authentication polcies. JumpCloud allows you to control your envinronment from a single pane of glass.
What do you dislike about the product?
We want the ability to bulk edit group management based on role/title. Nested groups are a must option for ease of management for sizeable enterprise-level management.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SSO, RADIUS wifi authentication, LDAP authentication to multiple services, Compliancy for PW standardization. One-stop portal for all authentication needs is a game-changer. Would like to be able to integrate more HR solutions to automate the user creation and termination across platforms using HR as the source of truth.
Distributed Office Credential Management at its Best
What do you like best about the product?
Extremely easy to use and has tons of features. The software just works and allows us the ability to not need to implement any complicated VPN connections or expensive AD infrastructure into our networks since all of our applications are cloud based. I especially like the device management features which allow us to implement things that used to only be possible with group policy. In addition the ability to install applications via chocolately packages is excellent. The pricing model seems to be quite fair and allows you to go with either a package or just pay for the things you need. Also the fact that they allow you to have a fully functional account for up to 10 users with no trial time period is very generous.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much that I have found so far, it is very functional! I did see that they do have the ability to uninstall chocolatey packages and the ability to create your own packages for install in an upcoming release so as of now I would say that those are missing features. One other thing I noticed is it does take a few minutes for the agent to poll the server so when updating or changing credentials and users they may need to wait a few minutes for the updates to take effect, its not instant like in the case of Active Directory.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As noted before we are distributed among multiple locations and this allows a central management of credentials for our users with a minimal IT staff while not needing the expensive and time consuming task of standing up and maintaining Active Directory servers. Our main goal was to have the ability to enforce some security policies as you would be able to do with AD and also have some central management of user credentials as creating local user accounts on each individual machine for people would not be a very efficient way of operating. Active Directory was just overkill for locations with only a handful of computers and if we used a VPN and for some reason that went down no one would be able to log in so that was off the table as well.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I strongly suggest you give this product a try if you are moving more towards the cloud and away from on-prem solutions.
