Multi Platform AD without the headache
What do you like best about the product?
I like the fact that we can use JumpCloud authentication regardless of the location of the user or the system they are trying to access. It allows the use of many different platforms with a common authentication platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes a little while to completely understand all of the capabilities of the platform. When adding third-party services that need to have common authentication, can sometimes need support to do it correctly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Internally we are on a typical AD infrastructure. Our email is not associated with the AD tree. We also have a backup infrastructure for remote employees that is not AD aware. All of these systems now use one source for user authentication.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get the free evaluation and make sure it fits your needs. Try with all of your authentication requirements both internal and external.
JumpCloud is an essential solution for our hybrid enviroments
What do you like best about the product?
JumpCloud is used for authentication services across our hybrid environment. The interface is intuitive and innovative. We looked for a central and simple single sign-on solution, with a good user interface and clear security objectives. We found our solution with JumpCloud. Highly Recommended.
What do you dislike about the product?
Pricing could be a little lower. Authentication for Rasberry PI devices would be nice
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Authentication across Windows, Apple and Linux systems. We can enforce password policies with JumpCloud that was impossible with the standard Microsoft Active Directory solutions
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Prepare to spend a few hours learning the software, being engaged in the webinars and updates to provide the best level of service to your customers and staff.

Fully cloud-based, no on-prem management in case of internet outage.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
No real problems intended to be solved with JumpCloud, but the ease of resource management is great.

What do you dislike about the product?
- Support even at Premium tier is lacking compared to OKTA, they just sending back KB articles and you need to onvlove account manager to get someone really knowledgeable. If you have an outage and call support dont expect an expert.
- MDM enrollment especially when migrating existing users/laptops is not working really well
- Lack of SMS MFA
- Missing workflows automatiions such as OKTA Workflows
- Log retention only 90 days (some compliances require up to a year)
- KB articles are lacking pictures and some of them outdated even for pre-build apps. So need to create custom apps instead.
- Lack of HR apps integrationgs such as BambooHR, Gusto for automating account creations.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a great idea and product is a future vision of IT compared to others the only downside is that it is not as stable and mature as other big competitors. It is perfect for small to mid size business, but if you are going entreprise you might find that a lot of small things missing that can slow you down. They always bringing new updates to the table so its a really agile and always changing product which is good so they can still listen to customer needs instead of pushing their own ideas to the product like many large companies do.
Superb Functionality at a Great Price!
What do you like best about the product?
JumpCloud has allowed us to easily migrate away from managing users through AD, and allowed us to simplify account management, through one easy to use web interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't havr any dislikes, learning how everything works takes some time, but once you grasp the concepts it will be well worth the investment, saving time managing everything through one system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have been able to streamline our new user creation processes by utilizing the JumpCloud LDAP and SSO features available in the software package. The benefits that we found most useful is having everything in one place and are currently experimenting with the various MDM features available.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a try, it will save you a lot of time once implemented.

What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't much I don't like, the platform is easy, fast and while complex isn't complicated.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it in places where clients want managed services but don't have a domain controller.
A Difficult Experience
What do you like best about the product?
Jumpcloud is beneficial if you're using it as your primary IdP instead of another service
What do you dislike about the product?
In my experience using Jumpcloud as a DaaS with Okta as our main IdP, there were many inconvenient aspects of Jumpcloud implementation. For one, the lack of Zero Touch Provisioning capabilities, as well as the lack of automatic binding of Jumpcloud users to Macbooks.
In addition, the troubleshooting steps for a lockout and reset, are not clear for the typical end-user.
Lastly, changing usernames (legal name change, clerical errors, preferred name update, etc.) requires a lengthy workflow when using Okta as an IdP. This includes: creating a second user on the machine that will be logged into, descoping the Jumpcloud user from the device, which logs the user out but preserves the user account. Then, changing the home folder path/home folder/permissions, unassigning and reassigning the Jumpcloud user in Okta and rescope the Jumpcloud user to the device.

We were utilizing Jumpcloud in conjunction with Okta to sync user Okta passwords with the local laptop password, as well as to automate revoking access to the user's machine upon Okta account deactivation.
