I use Paessler PRTG to monitor our servers and I like its alerting feature. We get instant alerts on failing servers, which helps a lot. The setup process was user-friendly, making it easy to get started.

If we add more servers at the same time, it's taking too much time to load.

It's a powerful tool for monitoring IT infrastructure. It has enabled us to analyze our network and take a more hands-on approach to operational and maintenance tasks, making them more efficient.

The tool is capable of monitoring a wide range of network elements. However, there are still situations—particularly with VOIP providers whose systems combine data communications, servers, and sometimes carrier-grade equipment—where PRTG alone is insufficient. In these cases, we find it necessary to use additional monitoring tools.

Previously, we lacked a comprehensive view of our network, but after acquiring PRTG, we are now much more aware of what is happening and can take a more proactive approach.

It helps by indicating if someone is already working on an issue, which saves time for others and prevents duplication of work. I also appreciate that we can create customizable dashboards. The desktop client is less useful compared to the web, and I wish they would make the desktop client the same as the web one.

The best aspect of Paessler PRTG is its ability to provide a comprehensive, single-pane-of-glass view into my network and device health, offering essential real-time visibility. The system is comprehensive in its monitoring capabilities, yet it remains relatively easy to set up once the user masters the fundamental sensor-based basics

The primary drawback of Paessler PRTG is that its vast array of features and extensive configuration options, while powerful, can sometimes be a bit overwhelming for new users or for those managing a smaller, less complex environment, leading to a steeper initial learning curve.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
PRTG is helping me shift from constantly reacting to problems to actually getting ahead of them. Because it constantly tracks device uptime, I know exactly what's going on and I don't risk missing crucial updates. I also love that I can instantly check internet traffic to spot performance issues or saturated links. The best part, though, is how often I get alerted to a problem—like a server that's starting to fail—and I know about the issue before the people on the site even realize anything is wrong!
