Clarify Costs
What is the actual cost of an EC2 instance running Veritas NetBackup BYOL? For the Red Hat operating system, do we pay for a Generic Linux EC2 instance or for a Red Hat EC2 instance (including the licensing fee) based on the machine size?
Example:
- m5.4xlarge - Linux: $1.2240/hour
- m5.4xlarge - Red Hat: $1.3970/hour
Could you please clarify what the instance cost would be? I couldn't find this information in the Veritas documentation.

What do you like best about the product?
Most helpful thing of NetBackup is its diversity we can easily set different type of backup it support wide range of Platforms. NetBackup gives detailed recovery option which is gives flexibility in restore.
What do you dislike about the product?
License and overall cost of implementation of NetBackup solution is expensive. Having some difficulties while using it first time but with time it was used to.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
we have a different types and platforms data which is hard to manage but NetBackup is allow us to create backup from different type of platforms like physical, virtual ,NAS etc.

The overall peformance is good, we have had many years with Veritas NetBackup, it is fast both in backup and restore especially with large data system (over 20TB)
Tha automation is also good, scheduling is flexible and variable.

What do you dislike about the product?
The tape machine (hardware) often get problem. and the support is not respond immediately.

system backup and recovery including OS and Database ... almost everything can do

Veritas Netbackup is used for backup, archive , restore files and folders.
If a server crash it saves us from the data we need.

For backup this is the best software as there are two billing and non billing software.

Veritas netbackup is a great backup and data protection solutions, combine a great capacities, good performance and friendly management, veritas netbackup can be colaborate with other aplications and integrate with data bases engines too.

Veritas netbackup is not better how configure policies and data sets, the bare metal backup dont work very well when exists arrays by hardware, but work very well on virtual system operations

Veritas netbackup help to backup unix and linux backup oracle database with rman integration, help to can make backups on virtual enviroments based on vmware and help to create and generate reports

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to configure and able to manage easily and connect to different applications. Sample vmware, SQL
What do you dislike about the product?
Assistance on support website confuses the users. When you try to search for a topic, multiple results with the same topic but troubleshooting differs and might confuse use on how to proceed on fix.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Vulnerability management and removal of bugs are informed to users every now and then. We are able to upgrade to a more stable version and always informed on email.

Veritas Netbackup supports large environments with a variety of backup methods.

Has quite a few bugs. Hard to get them resolved quicker from support.

Veritas NetBackup is an enterprise backup solution that is very easy to set up, configure and administer. It backs up and restores heterogeneous environments with Windows Servers and Linux.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tape library configuration can be an issue sometimes, which affects our backup jobs. Speed is another areas wherein things could be improved so that backup and restore are faster.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Veritas NetBackup addresses our disaster recovery requirement. It allows us to provide our end users with a solution to recover data/servers from 3-6 months. Netbacup being an enterprise solution allows us to backup Windows, Linux and other applications like Exchange, SharePoint, etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If your environment consists of a large amount of data and a heterogeneous mix of operating systems like Windows and Linux, Veritas NetBackup is the solution.
