Ease of use. Very detailed logging. Easy to integrate with.

Very less documentation available. Support for 4k for optimized synthetics api.

It is a very good product for backup scenarios. It has all the bells and whistles of a backup product and much more with its ability to do synthetic backups and accelerator feature.

I like the simplicity of it. It works well with all OS in our Server environment.

I dislike the price. It's very expensive to use this software.

I would look to use NetBackup or at least demo it to fit your needs. It's very versatile and Vertias has been in the backup industry for quite some time.

I never really used Veritas NetBackup, but the layout and design is very professional and easy to use.

At first it was very difficult to get around, but once you get the hang of Veritas NetBackup, it is very easy.

Better and reliable Backup
What do you like best about the product?
Veritas NetBackup has a very good GUI which helps even a novice in the field of backup, to know clearly what backup jobs are currently going on, which jobs got successfully executed and how to schedule a new job.
What do you dislike about the product?
GUI sometimes work very slow over intranet. Moreover, its software for GUI should be available on Linux based PCs as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We take incremental backup every night and it keeps a copy of the data that can be used at a later time. As compared to other backup solutions, it's really good.

We are taking backup of the critical data on servers and Network shares. At times when the data gets corrupted or deleted on the source we get restoration requests, we restore the data from NBU with few clicks

As most will know this range of Symantec products were an industry standard for back ups.
This means that there is a great deal of knowledge and resource material around for this well established solution. This also means that many IT professionals have also come across this either in their current role or in a previous position.
I like the way you can chain jobs together - setting one job off when another has completed.
It's also not too expensive and easy to administer.

When using tapes as the backup media - There are many options regarding data retention and overwriting periods. It is easy to get in a muddle so getting things planned out is a must.

Backing up to tape allows for good 'old skool' off site options - taking tapes off site to give the resilience needed for a solid Disaster Recovery (DR) plan.
