My NPM experience as a first timer
What do you like best about the product?
This is my first time using SolarWinds and although there is a bit learning curve to get your head around once your in your in. The sheer power of NPM is astounding to me, if I had this in my last few work places my life would have been a whole lot easier. Once you use it on a daily basis you very quickly begin to be able to customise the system to your needs and its power really start to shine.
What do you dislike about the product?
At the moment I dont feel like I have a dislike with NPM.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Over the years of us using SolarWinds we have been able to trouble shoot network issues and maintain network hardware across the board because of the clarity of our network NPM gives our engineers. This has benefited us greatly as countless hours as saved by using NPM and integrating other modules.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend to anyone starting out to sign up to Thwack and look through all of their videos, guides and get involved with the community as it really does help.

The best way is to describe Solarwinds NPM is like a present like you unwrap it and find the goodies inside. NPM also either when you are setting it up or doing a drill down analysis you get everything and everything you need to to
What do you dislike about the product?
Its to customize-able and yo get lost initially of what you have to setup and and for me it was alot of manual work, i would like more automation especially when it comes to alerting, alot of the common alerts so be setup already. MIB's is the biggest pain for me as well like why cant i be easier to work with it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used have to go to every device to see what the issue was now we have a big overall picture of the network and you can find the root of the issues very quickly and efficiently,
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you watch the training videos it will really help you out and Thwack is best when you need them!

I like the why you can dig in and find an issue. It has been a big help with customer network slow downs.

Some time I do get lost but that might just be me. I manage the group so I'm not always in it.

What do you like best about the product?
SolarWinds NPM is simply the best monitoring solution I've come across. It's easy to set up, easy to configure, and easy to run.

There is absolutely nothing to dislike about the product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SolarWinds NPM allows me to monitor the state of our network infrastructure, alerting us to issues before any users are even aware of a problem, and allowing us to proactively monitor our infrastructure.
Always surprises
What do you like best about the product?
I love the way this product is evolving... I have been using NPM from more than 3 years now and from the time I started using and what it has reached now, is just commendable... the dashboards, widgets, different views, small small features like mute alerts, creating icons etc are few which I would like to call out here..
What do you dislike about the product?
not much in this section for now.. I would like to see how it catches up with drastic changes that are happening in the network area like new technology launches from different top network vendors like Cisco.. Also would like to see how SW-WAN will be accommodated in monitoring....
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
well, it gives different options.. right from low level to high level like using Netpath which enables the team to know exact pain point and not waste time.. if a customer is only initiated in basic monitoring then that's also available without much effort...
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would suggest to definitely go for this product.. you have option to evaluate and see of yourself..

What do you like best about the product?
NetPath shows you what is happening from beginning to end and every point along the way.
What do you dislike about the product?
For Network Operations Centers that work 24/7 a dank theme would be nice.

The software platform helps keep long term statistics and current data to determine network issues.

This software allows me to monitor every aspect of my networking environment.

The single view that can show everything thats going on in our network.

I dislike having to wait at least thirty minute to get a technical support agent during regular hours

As an ISP, we use network performance monitor to correlate information between our core devices and our customers. It allows anyone with access to view topology of a customer and escalate issues accordingly.
Powerful network monitoring, easy to set up, attractive dashboards
What do you like best about the product?
Network Insight for ASA, Netpath, Perfstack, Windows and Linux Agents, support for wireless controllers... there are so many features packed into NPM. We are able to quickly and efficiently diagnose network performance issues across our entire environment. The development cycle for NPM is also very active, they are constantly working on new features.
The Thwack community is also an amazing asset to owning a SolarWinds product, there are thousands of users there discussing ideas, issues, and IT topics in general.

What do you dislike about the product?
Some parts of the UI could use reworking and can be cumbersome for creating groups and dependencies for a large number of remote networks
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to scale our environment accurately by using baselines collected in NPM. Performance issues can be easily found and alerted on, reducing downtime and improving user experience.
