Great product! Great Price

Being alerted to outages as soon as they happen.

Nothing! I’ve found nothing I don’t like about pingdom

We’re alerted to outages as they happen. We know about outages before our clients
Powerful monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
A very powerful monitoring tool with multiple modules. Most everything we want to keep an eye on is in one place.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can get complex and confusing to set up what we needed. Once set up on decently powered hardware, it has worked well
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Alerting to network and application issues often before our users know so we can address them quickly
Greate network monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
we manage all network traffic in our workplace. Very easy to use, great to see all network traffic on the map. and cheaper than what you get.
What do you dislike about the product?
interface needs updating. sometimes it can be difficult to reach a customer representative.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
monitor line traffic of branches and servers.see that the network line is running 100%
SolarWinds Network
What do you like best about the product?
My previous job has a yearly contract in which we renew yearly with SolarWinds. I like that it provides us with security monitoring and database management. We have a pretty small IT department and this software helps us out when we are unable to physically monitor everything 24/7.
What do you dislike about the product?
The company as a whole runs very smoothly. There are times when customer service can be hard to deal with. But that happens with any company.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The network configuration manager DL500 has been our biggest benefit. It does a lot of the work for us.
SolarWinds is Overly Complicated with bad UI
What do you like best about the product?
Network Performance Monitor does give us lots of graphs about what is going on in the network. The graphs produced can aid in troubleshooting.
What do you dislike about the product?
SolarWinds tends to be slow and unwieldy. Maintaining nodes to make sure that everything is monitored tends to be labor intensive. The UI needs a major overhaul.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use NPM to manage our interface statistics which it does do.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There are other products on the market that can do things as well or better and that have better UI. Definitely look around if you have the choice.
SolarWinds Server and Application Monitor
What do you like best about the product?
SolarWinds monitoring is a very reliable tool, with a very wide scope and provides real time data about the servers and applications, is very user friendly and easy to understand, easy to create dashboards and reports
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it gets very slow while login in, it has taken about 2 to 3 minutes just loading
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monitoring the health of our servers and applications which gives us a heads up in real time if something is going wrong
Recommendations to others considering the product:
N/A
Robust, maybe even a bit too much so.
What do you like best about the product?
It is a beefy software with a lot of possibilities. The customization is great with the interface and the alerts can be sent to emails/mobile phones etc. The integrated search and Asset explorer saves a lot of time and you can get real-time statuses from remote interfaces.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a bit of a learning curve before you completely understand everything you can do with the software. It's a bit more expensive than I would prefer, but it's not deal breaking cause the software is good.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Receiving timely alerts when something in one of the data centers fails. Can't include a screenshot cause I'm doing this survey from home and you need to be on the VPN to log into the software.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use the free trial that they offer on their website to determine whether it's a good fit for your team or not.

What do you like best about the product?
I really enjoyed using Pingdom, but our needs grew- and we've now made efforts to implement other tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
We've done some digging, and we've found that we can merge about 3 tools into one- and reduce our monthly spend by quite a bit.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've found it to be an amazing tool to encourage our customers to utilize more products and solutions within our own offering.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
We've come to realize that Ppingdom is a great tool to start with, accelerating growth pushes us to gain more data/security/monitoring across our stacks- so a migration to another tool will soon ensue.
SolarWinds SAM
What do you like best about the product?
SAM has been most helpful for us to monitor all server and applications that we need monitored. Its allowed us to create customized alerts and have all our alerts go directly to the parties that need to be involved.
What do you dislike about the product?
Our only dislike is that some of the alerting configurations were not very intuitive at first.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Like mentioned before, we are able to notify the exact parties that need notified so that issues can be worked on in real time.
Excellent for monitoring device resources and up/down status of network servers and deivces
What do you like best about the product?
It is easy to configure new devices. It monitors almost all aspects of the server from CPU utilization to free space on storage devices. Even just simple notifications if you servers are responding to network traffic or not.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it can be a bit slow on parsing through the data it collects, especially if you not looking for errors, but informational items.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We monitor all our physical servers and storage devices We send out email notifications to our servers support team if there are any failed hardware or if servers are reporting down. Is has made getting a head start on server repair a lot more efficient and helps keep all the techs in the loop and on the same page.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want to get a handle on your servers and how they are running on the network, this software does it easily and effciently.
