The perfect all in one monitoring tool for servers and all applications!
What do you like best about the product?
This software is simple to use and allows us to quickly monitor and respond to server or application issues that arise. Our technicians receive emails if any services or servers crash and it’s displayed cleanly in a browser.
What do you dislike about the product?
Configuration was a bit difficult at first, and the email notification settings are a little sensitive, which causes our techs to receive a lot of emails from the automatic notification mailer. The dashboard occasionally crashes/loses connection as well but that may be an issue with our configuration, not the software itself.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows us to quickly determine if we are having any issues with our servers, ensuring minimal downtime for our end users.

Try it!
SolarWinds NPM Review
What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to add devices to the system, alerting capabilities are simple and yet can be complex if required, Network Map is very useful for displaying geographical status of our offices.
What do you dislike about the product?
There doesn't seem to be a very intuitive way of putting the system into maintenance mode when required.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When devices go up and down the team responsible are able to act much faster to resolve, the use of the network map has helped this considerably.
SOLAR Winds
What do you like best about the product?
I like the GUI which shows all poor performances and historical sql's in any given time period
What do you dislike about the product?
It doesnt shows the current running active sessions in the database in a graphical way just like OEM has sql monitor
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It doesnt shows the current running active sessions in the database in a graphical way just like OEM has sql monitor so if we have this option it could be better
Great Tool to Manage Website Performance
What do you like best about the product?
Pingdom makes it very easy to track our own websites performance across various levels. Pingdom allows us to easily see crucial metrics like downtime and uptime at a glance while also allowing us to dig deeper into a situation to identify any issues. We also have alerts set up so that way if there are any issues while we are not in the office, we will be made aware of any potential issues. We also use the page speed management tools in order to help track the impact of new code deployments.
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the biggest issues we have seen with Pingdom is the difference in reports from their free web tool for testing site speed and the paid tool that can be found within the app for monitoring site speed over time. We have found that the free web tool is more accurate than the paid monitoring tool when determining site speed. We do not exactly know why Pingdom is showing such different results, but we have consistently seen a difference.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are currently using Pingdom to try to effectively track important website performance metrics. Their reports allow us to easily see changes and impacts. We also use Pingdom to track any downtime issues we may experience while we are out of the office through various alerts.
The Standard in Network Monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
So much in one pane of glass. You can see an overview or detail by a single click. We live by the alerts.
What do you dislike about the product?
Licensing is a little burdensome. Each port on a switch takes up a license. It would be nice to just be able to select all ports. Now we have to just do the uplinks and then add and remove other ports on the edge to get baselines or see what is going on.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Getting instant info on up/down or port utilization is huge for any I.T. dept.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is good to work with a third party or solarwinds services to get it setup to begin with. Then you can start adding monitors.
One Of the Best monitoring tools around
What do you like best about the product?
Super easy to use and simple to understand
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing at all it worked amazingly and works perfectly for our needs
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monitoring server environment.
Great tool to manage netowrk devices
What do you like best about the product?
Rapid deployment of config change to multiple devices. Plus real-time collection of configurations shows who made the change and what changes were made.
What do you dislike about the product?
Be nicer if it was a little cheaper, but what can you do?
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest challenge we solved was exposing who was making unapproved changes to network devices, and visibility into what they were changing.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It was cheaper than WUG, but WUG revampd their pricing model, so WUG is currently cheaper and accomplishes many of the same things.
Strong and Reliable monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
The monitoring is customizable and integrates with multiple applications. Triggers for those notifications and be set with different threseholds
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the alerts can require some major configurations in order to read correct application.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to avoid downtimes due to alerts on our applications we are monitoring. This gives us a insight into what applications are having issues prior to a system crash. It also allows us to proactively stop or restart services on those databases.
Simple but powerful tool for centralizing your logs and making them searchable
What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to integrate with. Sample code/config has been provided for every scenario I've required. The alerts you can configure based on a search are super useful too.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I dislike is that scrolling through logs in the GUI can feel clunky at times. There are ways to mitigate this, by looking at specific systems or jumping to a certain timestamp. But when you're just scrolling through and you're not quite sure what you're looking for, it can be a little frustrating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Multiple systems/applications are sending their logs to papertrail and we have over a dozen alerts configured to alert the appropriate people (or group) when something goes wrong.
Great Product for Monitoring Applications
What do you like best about the product?
We have enjoyed the ability to manage and monitor home grown applications as well as generally available ones. Being able to watch for run away processes and over utilization of things like SQL and AV have been a benefit.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it is a little harder to configure that we would like. It has been a good buy for us but it is not as 100% user friendly as we would like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As we stated before, being able to watch for run away processes and over utilization of things like SQL and AV have been a benefit. Also being able to tell is services are installed or not when they are supposed to be has been a good get for us.
