Great for Pros and Noobs
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to create a piece instantly, even without a ton of design experience is without a doubt the best part of Canva. Their easy to use templates make it user friendly and optimal for even professionals who may just feel a little dry in the design well. The ability to share across teams and to invite others to edit a piece is also integral to our success with Canva. I know there are probably similar services out there, but the overall UX and friendliness of it is great.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not a huge fan of having so many paid for items, but also Canva is a business so I get it. They do offer one-time purchase vs credit which is nice so you don't feel locked in and that you're making a huge financial commitment. Sometimes they do experience technical (maybe server?) issues and when you go to download a piece, the formatting isn't quite right...but that's only happened a handful of times. When it does happen, support is there to help.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Overall - we have a huge backlog of design items that need to be created and only one designer. For smaller pieces that aren't for professional printing, our team uses Canva to solve the problem of the bottleneck that happens. Canva allows us to push messaging, social and more out quickly without having to wait for one person. Not to mention the edits are super easy, when they do come in.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely take a look at competitors, but also just play around with the UX to see if it fits your needs or if you even like the designs that are a part of Canva. There's definitely a vibe with some of the pieces, so you want to make sure that you'll be able to mold it to your brand as well, if you'll be relying on some of the pre-made content.
Excellent resource anyone can use
What do you like best about the product?
The templates! Super helpful and allows anyone to create beautiful graphics for any number of social outlets. I appreciate the templates for longer-form pieces, such as ebooks. Also, really like the team function. We use it for our team to keep our brand consistent. I also appreciate their many free (and low-cost) visual elements. That saves time to have everything in one place. I can build a piece pretty easily and quickly with the elements they have in there.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the text looks right in the Canva platform, but when I download it, it is off. They have been pretty quick about getting back to me when something is off, but it sometimes is delayed or I can't figure out how to get it download correctly. I do wish the "magic" resize had a few more options- Facebook link image- and also did more automatic resize. For example, the fonts re-size really small rather than filling the new space.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We do a daily radio show and need to create constant visual content to connect to the show. I could not do so with the same easy without canva. I am not skilled in Adobe, nor do we have a budget for the suite at this time. I appreciate that I can use Canva and it saves all my designs so I don't have to re-create the wheel every time.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take time to get to know all that they have to offer. Make use of the templates- they will be your friend!! Additionally, make use of the "magic resize" that will allow you to quickly create pieces for multiple outlets.
Free Graphics Creator
What do you like best about the product?
I love the ease of use with Canva. Everything is laid out and the user experience is great.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's not much that I don't like about it!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm able to create graphics for all aspects of my content development. Whether it's for my content or my client's as well. From blog posts to social media, marketing materials, infographics, and so on.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's free and easy. There's no reason why you shouldn't use it!
Great for Infographics and Logos
What do you like best about the product?
There is a vast library of free templates and example which are a great help when deciding what style would fit your needs. The graphics, backgrounds, colors, and images that are available are helpful. You can load in your on images as well very easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
It does take some practice to find all the features and get used to what you can and can't do with the program. There might be tutorials which would be helpful, but I didn't see any. Once you get over the learning curve, it isn't bad at all to figure out.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A lot of clients are wanting infographics and specialized logos for their reports. This makes creating those quick and cheap or even free.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Check out all the templates before you start. There are so many options and examples, it might spark ideas for your project.
Fun, creative & easy to use
What do you like best about the product?
I like that it has pre-made templates to get the juices flowing. I also love how they provide free or $1 images to use instead of paying tons of money for stock photos.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that you can't edit your canvas size once you've started a pre-built template design. I also don't like how the final downloaded images appear sometimes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gaining some creative ways to lay out email headers. Also a plus if there are images I can use for free.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great design software for beginners. Does not have nearly as much functionality as Photoshop but makes it fairly easy to get a simple design job done.
Low cost, high value
What do you like best about the product?
My work was hesitant to invest in an actual design program, but still wanted to have high quality work done for outreach materials. Canva is the perfect alternative for organizations that aren't ready to invest in adobe or something like that. I don't have a design background, and it was simple enough to figure out that I can now produce very nice-looking materials quickly. They also have amazing customer service.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the site acts up for no discernible reason on my end and I can't use it or get to my designs for a while. That has been inconvenient at times. There is also less customization of individual shapes and texts than other design programs, but all that really means is that I've had to get creative.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
High costs of design programs make it hard for smaller businesses/nonprofits to make quality materials in-house. Canva helped us do just that.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great for turning the merely tech-savvy into makeshift designers. Able to produce impressive results with no significant design background.
The tool I use daily without fail
What do you like best about the product?
Canva has revolutionised the way I do business. A picture is worth a thousand words. With the way social media is going, you must have good eye-catching pictures and great professional layouts in order to catch your audience eye. Canva makes this so easy!
What do you dislike about the product?
Very occasionally it takes a while to search for a photo because the search function isn't very specific
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My brand is recognisable for my audience so I am able to communicate with them easily. They recognise my pictures and interact with them. Canva has helped up my game in terms of brand professionalism and time saving.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get the pro version because you will be able to save your brand colours, fonts. Also have access to pro layouts and photos free.
Social Media that looks better
What do you like best about the product?
I love that Canva gives you pre-set custom design templates to work with if you are a beginner, but want to stray from the confines of Powerpoint or Word. You can also share designs with others. Our department is a music department. We previously made concert posters using Microsoft Word-- silly, I know. Canva has allowed us to make more appealing flyers without losing the ease and familiar feel of Microsoft Word. Canva is easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
I spent a lot of time learning how to use Canva. Obviously it is not as involved as say, Photoshop or other professional software, but I still had to spend a decent amount of time to learn how to use it to its full potential. I also dislike that because Canva is a website, I couldn't work without the internet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are creating higher quality marketing for our events. We don't look as "Microsoft Word and Clip Art" anymore.
Canva is for everyone!
What do you like best about the product?
Canva made it possible for a newbie at graphic design to become a graphic design pro! I've always had a creative eye and passion for design, but lacked the formal training or tools to do so. But CANVA! Canva was introduced to me by a friend, and immediately allowed me to start creating designs and projects that took my business to the next level. We were able to increase our reach, views, and interactions on social media simply by using the designs I created with Canva. Canva was such a diamond in the rough for me. Definitely worth it!
What do you dislike about the product?
Hardly anything. If I had to pick one thing that I disliked, it had to be the fact that after I started a design, I could not go back and re-size the original dimensions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our business was largely unknown in our city. With Canva, we were able to introduce ourselves in creative, specialized, and true-to-form ways for US. Our city now knows who we are, what we stand for, and how we like to get things done. Brand recognition has increased, as well as social media interaction.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Whether you're a beginner or a pro, Canva can help take you to the next level. Business and personal digital creation needs are a breeze with the ease of use Canva brings to the table. With a quick tutorial, you'll soon be capable of bringing designs to others to increase social media presence, use for events, or to simply delight. Canva's best features are available for free, and definitely worth a try!
People will think you're a graphic designer!
What do you like best about the product?
It is so easy to function, and there are so many free options of templates, fonts, graphics, etc. to use. The accessibility on desktop or through an app is just a bonus too!
What do you dislike about the product?
It can often load a little slower, as there is quite a bit of data being used. It also can be tough when downloading to be sure of which PDF or JPEG/PNG format will work best, and you may have to try a few to make sure your graphic looks the same when downloaded.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Marketing! Marketing! Marketing! Our materials look more professional without having to use an additional service. Our consumers/students/clients have noticed the new and upgraded look.
