Ridiculous Power & Ease of Use at an Equally Ridiculous Price (FREE!)
What do you like best about the product?
Oh man, I think I like almost everything about Canva. I am not a professional graphic designer, so perhaps my needs are not nearly as complex as a pro. But I have created TONS of really awesome looking stuff using Canva in the last year and I am very pleased with it. It's easy to use. It's relatively easy to learn. It has all the features I need and a bunch I don't, (but that don't get in my way.)
What do you dislike about the product?
Hmmm.... I guess I dislike the fact that I am not rich and famous as a result of using it. I dislike that my hair still hasn't grown back since I started using it. I dislike that I haven't lost any weight as a result of using it. Other than that, I'm pretty satisfied.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I create lead magnets, logos and various graphics for my various web properties. So far, I haven't had to pay a "REAL" designer for any of the things I have done. In other words, I'm getting near professional results without professional prices. I'd say that's definitely worth the price of admission. Which happens to be "free."
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is likely not the product for you if you are a professional graphics designer. But you probably already know that. If you're a solopreneur like me, and need to do stuff quick & dirty that doesn't LOOK quick & dirty, then Canva is definitely worth the effort.
Easy to Use, Amazing Design Tool
What do you like best about the product?
Canva makes it so easy to leverage best design practices and create really visually compelling pieces that can be used across channels. What is awesome about Canva is that it has a ton of pre-loaded templates that with a little tweaking can make a great blog header, social media photo, infographic, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
The one thing that I think can be improved is the ability to search for icons etc. The search function usually brings up a lot of photos that actually cost something, so unless you want to scroll through a bunch of options, you usually stick to the same few icon sets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canva makes it really easy to create and share visual templates that can be used across marketing channels. This helps save time and resources, and can even save money on using expensive design firms.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Really take some time to play with the tool before you need to use it for something. This way you can get a feel for how the templates work and how you can incorporate your own design elements.
Although there are extra expenses, the free one works well
What do you like best about the product?
This program allows you to create beautiful brochures and other media with gorgeous graphics and layouts. Fairly easy to use. Although it is free to do basic items, when you pay you have a lot more access to even more formats and pictures. Whether you are looking for a free program that allows you to make simple posters or other media without having to pay for other programs, this online program does the job and does it well.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is hard to print it directly from the site without having to first download the creation. You are not allowed to choose where the media you created is placed. If you had an option to download it and place it on your desktop or another folder for easy access, that would be a lot more helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Canva, I am able to create my monthly newsletter that I normally would have used Publisher for. I, however, have a Mac and do not have Publisher so I am able to use Canva for what I normally would have used Publisher for. Canva allows me more already created formats that I can just plug my information into with ease. With my new business account, I am able to resize a layout I like and I am able to save all of my business logos and colors on my account for easy access.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
A good alternative for Mac users who cannot access Publisher
I LOVE Canva
What do you like best about the product?
I love that Canva is easy to use and has a ton of free options for quality graphics.
What do you dislike about the product?
Canva could be a little better organized when trying to find a specific template.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It gives me great social media images to use and it gives me a professional looking way to get people's attention.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go for it! I couldn't speak highly enough about how great Canva is.
Pro Graphic Designer Approved - For the non-designer, this makes life easy!
What do you like best about the product?
I love how they have some pretty decent looking design templates, backgrounds, patterns and fonts to work with. It is pretty intuitive, you do not have to be a professional designer to work with this program. You can put together graphics in Canva much quicker than doing it in Photoshop or another Pro design program.
What do you dislike about the product?
There can be bugs, every once in awhile it will mess up and does not save a project, this has only happend to me a few times and it was because I had other tabs in my browser doing different things in the background. It can be cumbersome at "first" but once you get the hang of it (20 min?) it is pretty smooth. The main thing that worries me about canva is that it will take away jobs from me! I have several clients who have started to create really decent looking graphics using canva.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am able to create social media graphics VERY quickly. It does all of the resizing for me, so when I want to take a facebook graphic and turn it into a instagram graphic it can do that for me. They adjust the background and the text to make it fit. As a Pro designer doing it manually in Photoshop is a pain, and does take more time.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a go, for the cost it is well worth it's value. You will save money using canva for projects that do not need a professional designer.
Good alternative to Adobe Creative Suite, but still not as good
What do you like best about the product?
There are several things that I really like about Canva that make it a great alternative to using Illustrator and even Photoshop (to some extent). 1) Easy-to-use templates for just about everything you need. The templates come in the standard sizes based on whatever platform you are using or the project: Facebook covers, Twitter covers, Instagram templates, magazines, e-books, invitation, and even labels. Once you select the type of creative project you want to work on, there are several pre-designed layouts for you to use. Great for people with limited time and/or limited creative skills. 2) Drag and drop, easy to crop. The options are not as detailed as Illustrator or PS but you ca get away with just adjusting the contract or saturation on a photo. 3) Free graphics and photos. There is something for everyone ad every project in their free catalog. If you want higher quality graphics/photos, then you have the premium selections wit are only $1 per image to use. 4) Download you project in PNG, JPEG, or PDF. 5)It saves your design even with the free account. Once you download it then it saves if you forgot to do it.
What do you dislike about the product?
The fonts are limited. Even with the wide range of free fonts available on the internet, Canva has opted to only include a few. There is a good reason for them to do this from a business perspective. They want you to pay them! Upgrade a free account to a premium paid user (Canva for Work) and you have the option to upload whatever font you want if you upgrade. The photos selections is a pain in the ass to navigate if you are looking for a specific photo. I've found that even with the key word search you have to scroll pass a mix of free and premium photos to get what you want. The upgraded accounts have the ability to create and organize with photos. Another thing that I dislike, is the website seems to freeze up a lot but if you are a free user the you can really complain. I upgraded to premium and it still does the same.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For us, its a easy to use design option for simply projects. Sometimes you don't need all the bells, whistles, buzzers, and flashing lights of opening Adobe. You just to to format a file. Plus, Canva gives you easy access to a catalog of graphics and photos. Saves you time from having to find it online, download and upload. You just drag and drop on Canva. Most of the good photos come form Unsplash, which I regularly use for simple, small projects. Canva for Work (upgraded accounts) allow you to download with transparent backgrounds.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a try.
I love canva
What do you like best about the product?
I love how canva is always trying to innovate and create better features for designers
What do you dislike about the product?
I do wish there was a draw type tool to make more specific designs
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
creating marketing collateral; have found this to be a very easy and cheap way to do it
I use Canva to create all needed marketing designs
What do you like best about the product?
In Canva I do like best it's "create panel". It is very comfortable to use and great to create any type of design.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would really appreciate if transparent background could be available for free
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I create all kinds of marketing materials for Social Medias, corporate presentations and for website
Canva is perfect for everyone - whether or not you have a design eye.
What do you like best about the product?
My favorite thing about Canva is the ease of use. I have to make a lot of flyers and graphics at work and most of the time I'm on a time-crunch. Canva allows me to make graphics quickly without losing quality. The templates are very helpful when I have designers-block. They have such a great array of free fonts and images.
What do you dislike about the product?
My least favorite thing about Canva is their search feature. There have been so many times when I will see an image or shape that I like, but when I go to search for it at another time, I can't find it again. I would ideally like to be able to save my favorite elements or search words within a specific field.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canva allows me to make graphics quickly with quality. I am able to share designs with my team through their group account feature. My co-workers and I can easily pull from each other's designs and I can crank out a number of graphics in no time at all.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Canva is my number one recommendation as far as designing programs are concerned, especially for those who have never designed before or don't have experience with more advance programs. I would absolutely pay for the business account if my workplace allowed it. However, the free version is still amazing.
User-Friendly and Efficient
What do you like best about the product?
Canva is a free website that marketing professionals use to create various marketing collateral. I use it for promotional letters, social media posts, event flyers and social media cover photos.
What do you dislike about the product?
I honestly love everything about Canva. My one previous complaint was that Canva didn't offer a snap guides to help align the design elements in each piece, but the recently made those guides available.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canva solves my problem of needing to create attractive marketing pieces in a hurry.
