Mixed feelings...beautiful UI and features but hard to handle
What do you like best about the product?
Canva's UI caught my eye, and the following features encouraged me to stay:
-It's free! Unlike other free versions, Canva's free version allows users to access all their templates, and within those templates you also have tons of free resources at your disposal - aesthetically pleasing fonts, icons, frames, free animations, various layouts, etc.
-You don't have to be a graphic designer to make the most use out of this tool. Canva makes designing almost effortless. For example, what would have taken me days to a week to create an infographic using a program like Illustrator/Photoshop now only takes me a day or two, because they have ready built templates that you can then tweak to your liking. Change out graphics, remove or add text, the world is your oyster when it comes to customizing your design
-All the elements, from text to template, follow a sleek, chic and minimalistic approach. The look&feel of Canva is overall trendy and modernistic

What do you dislike about the product?
Canva should enhance their UXE - it can be frustrating when I make edits, click outside of the graphic to save the change, and it automatically routes me to the left of the page. Also, they should have layers that you can easily edit as they do with Photoshop. Every time you try to make a change and the elements are super close together, it takes forever to try to move the element you want. Urgh!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canva helps me pump out gorgeous graphics in a jiffy. It is just a beast to edit.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
UX is still in the rough, premature stages.. I would recommend adding a view bar where you can easily edit each element!

Great for bloggers, not so great for Graphic Designers
What do you like best about the product?
Canva offers so many options for backgrounds, shapes, fonts, sizes for final artwork and color that its hard to make anything look less than great. It easy to use and it's simplicity cannot be beat. Even the photos that are available are great and there are many to choose from. The ones that aren't free are very inexpensive and better than similarly priced royalty free photo "competition".
What do you dislike about the product?
Sharing your file with others isn't as easy as it should be. Downloading your artwork into a useable file such as jpg or png should be a lot more user friendly. I have a lot of co-workers that have issues sending me their final artwork because the interface is a tad confusing once you get to the point of saving and using the artwork.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a graphic designer I do not use Canva for my own designs but I do have interns use it to help me build memes and teach students how to use it for intro to the design world. It gives me a pretty good idea of who has a good idea for design and who doesn't. By removing the technical know-how one needs to start with a blank canvas in Photoshop or Illustrator, Canva allows you to simply get the job done without drag and drop, type and place functionality. It won't make you a good designer, but allows good designers to design beautiful things without having to know more difficult software.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you have a website or blog, have any eye for beautiful design and can't afford a graphic artist to create facebook posts, pins for Pinterest, memes for your blog posts, Canva is hands down the way to go.
Roughtdraft Designs
What do you like best about the product?
This is a great tool to use to get inspiration from the templates and tweak it to fit your own promotions.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish it had more preset templates such as facebook ads!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Coming up with new ideas for email designs, facebook ads, and rough drafts to send to the graphic designers to implement.
Simple and effective design
What do you like best about the product?
The drag and drop interface is great, and the auto-sized boxes for Facebook Ads, Cover Photos, Twitter, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
Canva for Business is nice but not ideal for an agency like mine. I wish they'd open it up to allow custom brand colors for multiple accounts
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quick and easy formatting with attractive designs for Facebook Cover Photos, Ads, and Posts.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Allow custom brand colors for multiple accounts instead of just the primary account. The folders are a great start.
Quick and Easy!
What do you like best about the product?
It's very simple and user-friendly for creating a wide variety of graphics for online and in-print use. And there are many features that are 100% free!
What do you dislike about the product?
Occasionally, fonts are not "true type" and change position on the created graphic when downloading from the internet. This is rare, but adds time to creating projects.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Because we're a small non-profit, we don't have the budget for expensive graphic designing websites. We do everything in-house, so Canva is an easy way for us to create our own graphics immediately (without having to worry about an outside firm). Canva for Work also allows us to immediately turn one design into a variety of other sizes (Twitter header, Facebook header, social media sizes, etc.).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
As a beginner, I would recommend taking advantage of some of the pre-made, editable graphics. It's worth creating a hundred "fake" graphics in it to get an idea of the things you can do with Canva. The tutorial is great, but it's especially helpful to just "play" with the program.
Powerful graphic design program (browser based)
What do you like best about the product?
I recommend Canva all the time for simple, beautiful looking graphic design projects. I like that the site allows for templates and using custom dimensions. I use this for designing posters in a 24"x36" size, then printing them at Walgreens.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish the site allowed a bit more customizations for pre-made graphics and exporting options (high-quality JPG, etc.)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use this to design real estate listing posters, it's super easy to upload photos and make beautiful, cohesive designs in a WYSIWYG interface.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I've seen people successfully use Canva for business cards, internet graphics and large posters.
Great for Custom Business Cards
What do you like best about the product?
Canva has a lot to offer for free that does not look hokey at all. I was able to make business cards for myself that looked very professional without paying an arm and a leg. I also appreciate that if I wanted to use something that did cost money it is very reasonably priced.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be useful if I could order right from the website or if I could save my layouts in a format that was ready to print double sided business cards from my own printer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Since I wanted to be able to use specific business logos on my business cards I was struggling to find a way to create them that was cost effective. This was just the ticket for me and is something I can see using in the future for other business needs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you don't mind doing some of the leg work yourself as far as designing goes this is a great site to get custom logos and banners for a very reasonable cost.
Use almost everyday!
What do you like best about the product?
How user-friendly this product is, even with the free version. This really helps out staff who work for non-profits that can't afford expensive graphic design software, or their staff don't have formal visual communication training. Being able to upload your own logo, photo, etc. and create easy designs for use especially for social media and web makes for a very versatile product. I know there are nice upgrades for subscribing to the Canva for Work -- haven't had tried that subscription before but it looks like there are some nice perks and features to using it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Because it is web-based, often times there is lag when trying to design or save something with large photo files or in a large document. I haven't tried their slideshow feature that just went live recently, however when I did create slides using an original document size (not a template size), it really slowed and bogged down. Quite annoying.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use this online software, well, website anyway literally 3-5 days out of the week for work, and use the images and such for social media posts -- works great, really no complaints other than large (multi-page or multi-image) projects.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Can't speak for the paid subscription to Canva for Work -- but the free version/account is still great and gives you the basics for what you can use it for, still with a lot of features. For those that don't have a large marketing budget, this is a good option. If you don't own images, they sell thousands of stock images and graphics for $1 a piece, pretty economical even for a small business.
Amazing easy to use tool!
What do you like best about the product?
easy to use, lots of creative pieces, can upload your own images, low cost or free for most images
What do you dislike about the product?
have had difficulty loading in borders, layering of images doesnt always work (they sometimes just to full screen), can only adjust images evenly from the corners
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
great for creating quick images for social media when I have a time crunch that my graphics team cant meet
Create images for social media in a snap!
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use! It is absolutely so simple and fast to create perfect images for social media. It literally takes a few minutes (or less) and you're able to use your own images to make awesome graphics in a pinch.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do wish there were more stock images for free. I feel the selection is very limited. Most of the images are only $1, but since they're used for something as simple as a wall post, I wish we had more options for free.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're able to very very quickly create graphics to post on social media without needing to involve our graphic design team. They are very busy and handcrafted and quality graphics take time, so it's nice to have an option to still create good-looking images in mere minutes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need graphics in a pinch, I recommend this product! It's so easy to use and the images look great!
