Easy installation and instrumentation of metrics
What do you like best about the product?
Well-distributed board, very good log level and performance. Additionally, instrumentation in less complex or legacy projects is very easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Setting up legacy projects for custom metrics is quite complicated, as we find little information or examples for this.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have customized metrics panels, where we can monitor the health of our applications, as well as alerts in case of incidents, and we also use them to track changes when we do deployments.
Performance Engineer
What do you like best about the product?
How it shows the status of the infra components and drills it down to get to the error message.
What do you dislike about the product?
Often we've come across the issues such as upgrading Instana screws up our performance tests, thus our releases are delayed and we end up reverting to the older version of Instana.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking the application's performance in an efficient way.
Indispensable Monitoring Tool
What do you like best about the product?
I and my teammates use Instana regularly to investigate app failures, errors, and latencies.
What do you dislike about the product?
The results become less reliable over time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to find where errors have occurred, read the logs, and see if there were Infra changes or what may have caused the issue.
Full stack observability solution
What do you like best about the product?
As part of the engineering team, we rely on Instana for comprehensive visibility into our application. It integrates metrics and traces, which are invaluable to us as we seek to scale our product and broaden our user base.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am concerned that the tracing integration locks us into the platform (a variant of Open Tracing). Also, there is a lack of SDKs for other, less mainstream languages.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It gives us an all-in-one platform to collect and analyze application metrics and traces. It is an invaluable help when debugging and troubleshooting performance issues in our services.
Great Monitoring Tool
What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to use and very intuitive UI. You don't need to think too much to check errors and load numbers on a per endpoint or per service basis. You are also able to check error messages.
What do you dislike about the product?
The API documentation is not the best and it is not very clear what APIs do. Including examples with the endpoints could be very helpful in understanding its purpose.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It gives an insight as to which services are impacted by an incident and how does the chain of command follows the services. which makes it easier to debug the problems.
Instana, provides informations I need to know, not useless ones
What do you like best about the product?
I like the charts and graphics. Any time I can arrange a time zone, I can check the requests and bugs. After that, I can go into the HTTP request and get information about the details
What do you dislike about the product?
I wouldn't say I like the queries. I think that could be easier, or another option could be added. Also, every user could customize their main page and put shortcuts to the main page by their needs instead of filtering the services whenever they want to access them
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Instana provides the logs in a better format with graphics and charts. And I can filter and examine them. Also, I can track the system and put alarms to prevent problems
Excellent User interface and not cluttered
What do you like best about the product?
The greatest advantage of using Instana APM is its ease of use. It eliminates the need to search through different components, such as Kubernetes namespaces, pods, or services, as everything is clearly and intuitively organized. This makes it easier for developers to quickly identify and address issues without having to spend countless hours trying to determine the root cause of a problem
What do you dislike about the product?
I have shared my feedback in several forums where the instana is lacking. They need to consider holding the logs for the events where the issues were identified. When an incident get's triggered by the instana agent, after certain duration like 7 or 10 days, the logs are getting archived. Now if the developer wants to check on the issue what happened, he would required to rely on log monitoring tools.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The serving our needs of Application peformance monitoring.
They are helpful in quickly jump into the part where the issue happened. The components were arranged in a better way where you can drill down to the core level without any hassle.

I use Instana almost everyday, its a awesome tool to monitor the product.
What do you like best about the product?
Once you get used to it, it's an excellent tool to monitor the product. I use it to monitor my deployments and the application's overall health and help identify bugs and their causes.
What do you dislike about the product?
I found it pretty intimidating at first. The onboarding experience for new users could be better; maybe some tutorials for useful features cause I still think I'm not using it to its full potential.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's helping me see my application's actual health and its moving parts. I can use it to monitor an endpoint that could be affected by my recent deployment or to get more information about a possible bug in production.
Confused at first but can help
What do you like best about the product?
I can see a lot of things about my applications, like memory consumption, errors, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
The data is not consistent, sometimes looks like there is a big delay or the data is not right
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's a OK tool to monitoring your application, .NET application at least, and your infrastructure
Instana seems to work well out of the box (on day 1) but quickly becomes complicated
What do you like best about the product?
Baseline metrics/measurements "just work" so it's pretty easy to get started.
What do you dislike about the product?
Diving into details is troublesome as Instana lacks some other visibility into system behaviors. Stitching together user journeys has not been easy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's great at creating an initial view of a technology stack
