Good routing and authentication features but little complex to use
What is most valuable?
I have used features like routing and authentication, as well as the most well-known features of WSO2.
What needs improvement?
WSO2 API Manager has some support problems and can be a little complex. So our developer teams decided to use 3scale or Kong instead. We found WSO2 API Manager to be a bit complex.
So, in terms of complexity, WSO2 API Manager has some challenges. Also, there is a bit of an issue with the pricing and license of WSO2. It's a little high.
For how long have I used the solution?
I used WSO2 API Manager for two projects. However, I can't say I have used it all the time. I have about 50% experience and knowledge about it.
How are customer service and support?
We are not satisfied with the customer service and support. In a few instances, their response time has been a bit slow.
How would you rate customer service and support?
How was the initial setup?
It is difficult to implement WSO2. The implementation can vary depending on various factors, such as the features required and the availability of human resources, including developers. It could take anywhere from two to three months or even just one week, depending on the specific requirements.
What about the implementation team?
Our team worked together with our developers to carry out the implementation.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
For our projects, we found it to be a little high. However, it may not be the case for another company or project. Because the costs depend on the specific features you would require and other factors.
What other advice do I have?
It's a good product. I prefer it. However, I would only recommend using WSO2 API Manager if the user has a specific requirement for one of its features. If they don't have a specific reason for using it, I can't provide a recommendation because it depends on factors such as the project, the local team, and the desired features. The API management system is complex by default. Therefore, the selection primarily depends on the project and the programming platform used by the developers.
Overall, I would rate WSO2 API Manager a seven out of ten because there is still room for improvement.
Working with WSO2 APIM made my work faster!
What do you like best about the product?
I have tried many API Management solutions as (MuleSoft ,Apigee and SoftwareAg ) WSO2 was the best among them, as it is characterized by a clear and large documentation, as well as the people you will find when inquiring on StackOverflow Collection .
As he is the only open source API Management , one of its advantages is that even if the functionality is not implemented and released, it allows you to develop it and use it by implemeneted a new interfaces.
What do you dislike about the product?
Until now WSO2 APIM doesn't suppot RAML specification .
Artificial Intelligence capabilities implemented until now, need to be more improved.
The documentation need to be implemented with real samples .
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
WSO2 APIM won me a lot of time instead of going back to the Backend Team to change or update the API, I do this modification only at the API Manager level, so I don't need a software developer to update and repeat the tests on the Backend again.

Working with WSO2 features have proven daily for me that is the best way of implementing software.
What do you like best about the product?
The APIs portal is how it is today. The way they display the APIS, the subscriptions and how clients can access, and we as administrators, can also control which API the user will be able to use or not
What do you dislike about the product?
Some customizations are challenging, and the documentation does not have enough information to help in the task, so some specific development can be difficult but not impossible.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The WSO2 API Manager is solving the API management in the gateway layer. In the same portal, you can access a diversity of APIs, control throttling, provide security etc. The developers don't need to develop those things anymore in their application, making their job easier and worrying only about the business core of the application.
