A Versatile Tool that will work well if you thought out your use cases.
What do you like best about the product?
The range of tasks one can do. We use it for:
1. Project planning and tracking.
2. Surveys and polls (with complex branching with if conditions).
3. Importing a spreadsheet file and using it seamlessly!
4. Send notifications to MS teams! (my favorite)
5. Some of the familiar Excel formulas are also usable in SmartSheet!
6. Detailed documentation
7. Community activity to reach out to people and find a solution to your business case.
8. API access
9. Access control for viewing and editing is excellent. By defining a user's role, we could exercise good control means we could avoid accidental deletion or modification of data
10. the reports feature can filter the data specific to the user.

What do you dislike about the product?
1. Creating dashboards sometimes feels like we are doing a workaround.
2. Date keeps changing if users across different timezones collaborate in a sheet. There is no option to set a one-time zone like PDT or UTC. SO Date triggers sometimes are not working as expected when.
3. More control options could be provided for attachments and comments with alerts.
4. Mobile is mainly read-only. Similar products like GSheets and Excel are very mobile-friendly.
5. we only have high-level Triggers in alerts. We only have the 'OR' condition and not 'AND' condition. if we want to use a combination of criteria. Excel VBA does a better job. (I'm not a coder, so I don't know how to use the APIs, but they are worth exploring)
6. Cross-platform integration with MS Power Automate could provide us with more options. Currently, the triggers are minimal. It's very challenging for non-coders to apply conditions to it.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1. My most common task is to plan my team member's tasks for the day, and they should receive alerts to their emails and MS teams when the job is assigned.
I can accomplish this by adding a person column and using the Power automate to trigger when a new row is added. I read rows, get the person's emails, and send alerts to their MS team groups.
Also, I was able to create a dashboard overview of the number of tasks done by each member for a range of time by using the start time and end time columns in my project
Using this sheet, I made a report where each individual could see their assigned tasks and update them. This avoids accidental modification/deletion.
2. When we want employees to submit information/files, we can use the forms feature, which can also accept the Files like images/documents. Then we apply triggers, so we do not have to check it regularly. also we can bulk download the attachments in one go.
3. the 'Cell History' feature proved helpful when determining who and when the status is modified.

What do you dislike about the product?
I believe that incorporating more of Microsoft Excel's functions and features into Smartsheets would greatly enhance its usability. My ultimate goal is to transition away from using Microsoft Excel altogether and rely solely on Smartsheets for storing and managing data in the cloud.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The roles and responsibilities have been clearly defined, along with a system of accountability and direction to streamline benefits.
Smartsheet, my Best Friend at work
What do you like best about the product?
1. Efficient. Smartsheet is a combined Email, SharePoint, and Excel. No need to switch software as they are all in the same interface.
2. Reliable. Automated workflows help send notifications. It's like you have another employee doing the task.
3. Organized and collaborative. It acts as a File Storage and Communication tool. Files and comments can be stored at row, sheet, and workspace levels. Users in the sheet can see or track real-time updates.
4. Familiar. Basic features are somehow similar to excel and google sheets.
5. Transparent but with control. The access type of each user can be customized (viewer, commenter, editor) depending on the level of confidentiality. It reduces security risks.
6. Time efficient. The dashboard helps summarize and share important details of reports without spending much time. Reports can be narrowed down depending on what you need to see.

What do you dislike about the product?
There are a lot of good features in Smartsheet, but you have to invest time in learning those features to maximize their function. It took time before I created a powerful monitoring.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet is very powerful and reliable. It's like having another person work together with you. I am more productive when using Smartsheet. My reports are done in no time.
Smartening our Workflow
What do you like best about the product?
Great user experience and adaptability of systems and procedures
What do you dislike about the product?
can be quite complex to implement and the licensing is a factor that is sometimes challenging for a big group to use. We still use Excel for shared projects for all to edit and review.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
by aligning our processes and procedures together and make this happen with ease
Very easy, fast and efficient to use
What do you like best about the product?
The automation of the process and export to an excel is very good
What do you dislike about the product?
none at this stage, my smartsheet is working fine
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet send automatic reply or notifications once one process has been actioned
Smartsheet is giving us the chance to build a lot of different solutions internally in our team.
What do you like best about the product?
The structure of files, columns, connections is solid and disconnected from file/columns names or locations. In this way it is possible to build a solution piece by piece, without the need of a full project analysis beforehand.
What do you dislike about the product?
The main limit are the dropdown list column. Dropdowns are fundamental for any serious interactive tool. At the very basic, it would need 1. to have the possibility to fill the dropdown from a formula, and 2. to have the dropdown consisting in two connected columns, one for the showed key to the user, and the other for a recorded value connected with the key, like a number for example. This second function is possible to be done with a formula in the second column, but if there are many dropdown options then it becomes impractical.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A number of them. Mainly the possibility to interact in a structured way to our many partners outside our organizations. Plus, automation for recurring task. Plus the possibility to simplify the interface and view for our internal staff, to avoid random typing errors or over complicated files
More advanced than your typical excel sheet but still has it's limitations
What do you like best about the product?
I love that every sheet can have a summary which helps me see a quick snapshot of the number of accounts, their health and some other formulas I have set up to see the data behind my sheet. The attachments section is very helpful as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
The inability to merge cells and having to create so many helper columns just to count the data correctly. It took me months to finally get everything right and I had to go find other team members, who had experience, to learn how to adopt smartsheets. I wish there was a customer success team at smartsheet that would help users have a cadence to ask basic questions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps me see the notes from all the accounts my team is managing so I can quickly assess which customers require my assistance as the leader of the team. It allows us to easily assign a health score on customers and list action items on a monthly basis.
Perfect for Project Management and Team Collaboration
What do you like best about the product?
SmartSheet helps my team effectively collaborate with our customers and delivery partners by providing an easy-to-use, intuitive platform. Standard features include the pivot from card to grid view, collapsible records, workflow automation when rows are changed or new rows are added, quick setup of conditional formatting, and intuitive submission forms. My team would not be nearly as efficient without this great tool!
What do you dislike about the product?
There is very little not to like about SmartSheet. We've been leveraging the system for three years, and each time we run into a challenge or feature request, a bit of investigation typically yields a viable solution.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We started leveraging SmartSheet for project plans. As we've created templates for project plans, we've found other ways to leverage the system for issue collection in User Acceptance Testing, enhancement requests, and build component phasing. The submission form process was a game changer as it allowed us to create a dynamic URL that can be embedded into our software and accessible by those without a license to the tool. Most recently, I've begun leveraging SmartSheet for a detailed to-do list to keep me organized in my objectives for the year.
Functional but not amazing
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is a project management system that allows teams to manage large projects fairly easily. The platform comes equipped with basic automations and form functions, making it a useful tool for project management.
One of the advantages of Smartsheet is its ability to enable collaboration across teams, allowing for efficient communication and task management. The platform's project management capabilities are also useful, particularly for large-scale projects with numerous tasks and deadlines.
However, in my opinion, Smartsheet doesn't stand out above its competitors, such as Monday.com or ClickUp.com. While the platform is a reliable and practical option for project management, it lacks some of the advanced features and user-friendly interface that other systems provide. (It does have advanced features but man, you have to pay a lot more for stuff that other pj tools already have at free tiers).
Overall, Smartsheet is an okay system to use for project management, particularly for teams working on large projects. However, users may want to compare it to other platforms before deciding which system is best for their specific needs.

What do you dislike about the product?
The cost. Compared to say clickup.com or monday.com - you get way more features even at a free level with clickup.com. For example, smartsheets make you pay extra for calendar functionality.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's keeping our tasks and projects across multiple team members in one place. It's accessible and functional but that's about it for me. I'd rather use some of the easier-to-use tools such as clickup or Monday.
Smartsheet is much smarter than any sheet
What do you like best about the product?
I personal love the overall integrations that can be setup through Smartsheet. All parts of a project form start to finish with multiple people can be on one sheet with notifications sent any time anything happens.
What do you dislike about the product?
How little there is available to find how-tos and other guides on things I am hoping to accomplish in my sheet. While there is a great online community, sometimes I just want to Google search or YouTube search my solution, and this is something that Excel has in abundance.
Other least favorite thing is the lack of adaptability for hours and minutes in equations.

We are running our entire travel process through Smartsheet. From the traveler finding their booking to the approvals necessary and even to the close-out process. Smartsheet is has the entire travel for our organization down to many lengthy equations and, several automation, and a few workflows
